I’ve just began retraining towards becoming a hvac installer / service engineer and I have an 18th edition course and exam as part of that, I have no previous electrical experience so to say I was daunted is an understatement, this video series along with all your others has gone above and beyond any information I could have ever dreamed of, this is absolutely fantastic and invaluable, if you had a PayPal link I would have happily donated because this has given me Such a great start and understanding on both the principles and the understanding of the Reg, I have gone from nervous to confident just by watching your videos thank you so much I have subscribed and will continue to watch all future videos Ryan
Thank you Ryan. Brilliant comments, really appreciated. The best way you can help me is to tell everybody you know to watch the channel. Keep learning, a little every day is best. A dripping tap will fill a bucket. You will get there and if the videos help - great. Lots more to come. Single phase motors this next week. Dave.
Your videos are so helpful. The set of 18th Edition exam videos are absolutely invaluable. They have boosted my confidence so much, I know I will pass later this week and you have done half the work for me! Also your videos that explain the technical aspects of working with electricity are just excellent. I cannot praise your work enough nor thank you enough!!
Thanks Ben, great feedback. Good luck with your exam. Relax and remember that every question will give you enough information to find the answer. Look for the keywords. Dave.
I was awarded my 18th edition certificate 23 July 2018, I feel I have learnt more from your videos then I did during the class. These videos are very informative and easy to understand! how many more videos are you doing in regards 18th edition. Keep the learning coming Thank you.
It will be a regular thing with 18th Edition, so lots more to come. Glad you passed, it's a great trade to be in. It's kept me in money, cars and holidays for over 40 years. Keep learning, that is the secret.
“What must an inspector NOT do” ... ? This question alone, with a full in-depth explanation, would be a perfection example for learners/time served. I have constantly had to quote the “unnecessary” work needed. Everyone is in such a hurry, nobody’s listening.
So glad I found your channel, you explain everything very simply but still very comprehensively. Great channel keep doing what you're doing, it's very much appreciated.
Fantastic news Royston. Keep learning now, that is the secret. Add a little bit to your memory bank every couple of days and at the end of the year your knowledge will be immense. The worst thing to do now is to chuck the Regs book in the back of the van and forget about it. Thanks for watching and thanks for the great news that you passed. Well done. Dave.
question 3 in the last video was a little confusing. I put A because it says less than 1000V AC in the book between conductors is considered low voltage. The thing is the question doesn't specify whether they want between conductors and earth or between conductors. Do you just assume they want between conductors and earth?
This one catches many people, which is why they put it in the exam. The clue is in the question - SINGLE PHASE - this implies between phase and earth which has a max of 600V AC for low voltage. Above 600V AC for single phase is therefore high voltage. And then, between phase conductors ( not neutral or earth) low voltage has a max of 1000V AC. Hope this helps.
Hi There Great Vids and Information. Question 5 regarding IP Definition is incorrect on this Vid, the answer was A (Ingress Protection) AND NOT B(International Protection Code).
More or less in sequence but you cannot be certain. Practice is the key and learning how to use the book and understand exactly what the question is asking. Keep watching the videos they will help.
Thanks for the input. This is an Amendment 1 video. If you want Amendment 2 questions and answers, go to LearnElectrics.com and put Amendment 2 in the search box. You will get a list of video links. Dave.

We should always follow the order in Part 6 of the book. Thanks for watching. Dave.
