I have to share my experience in here. I have huge collection of records at home. Majority of them are inherited from my dad. My hobby is pretty much just putting one record in and continue on my daily life. Except this one time. I put some compilation LP in and at one point I heard something I described "angels singing" to my daughters and I had to stop and listen. It was this one random moment I found this song and now I can't get enough of it. This happened like one year ago or so.

My favorite in the 80s and still today
Great song (though I prefer the Celtic Woman version), but the irony is that he wrote a song about Christmas and yet still managed to miss the message of Christmas. The whole point of Christmas is that we don't have to wait 2000 years to be delivered from our stupidity. Jesus can deliver us from ourselves today. The real stupidity is thinking we don't need Jesus. It's not a problem of intelligence. The problem is that our hearts are in rebellion against God (sin) and Jesus is the only one that can fix that problem.

There's no question, Chris is talented, BUT... Doesn't sound like a saved man at all, the song he just sang, he explained it in the beginning, people on a galaxy far away? Are you kidding me, not bible, this song's not about JESUS AT ALL,

Who says that the baby was not Jesus and his birth brought even other worldly travelers to witness the event, and they ended up being mistaken for angels. You do not that a lot of the scripture was edited by Constantine's scholars. That Dec 25th was not the birth date of Jesus it was more in the area of Easter. These dates were edited to match up the celebrations of Saturnalia the harvest God's and Mithra the Greek good of the Sun or enlightenment.
He's clearly a realist; basing his beliefs on science rather than the fables in a book written by people to control other people.

I have trouble reconciling the lyrics with the beauty of the music that touches me deeply. There is the sacred Christmas music we sing in church and the secular Christmas music that attempts to embody some of the spirit of Christmas such as "White Christmas", etc. This song, and particularly this performance lies somewhere on the continuum. One can hope that whatever your view, it leads you into a deeper communion with God.
