Nice to see I'm not the only SAAB enthusiast who's 9-3 Collects leaves in the gutter 😅🤙 Awesome video, super helpful for my upcoming shocks replacement. Thanks SAAB Dr!!! May you and yours stay healthy and happy during these challenging times
Great video Mr, new shocks and struts now a days is like buying a new car, in this times buying a new car????!!!! Nope, thanks lots to learn from, appreciate you’re sharing
3:36....SAABs built-in leaf-composting module. Keep it green! Kidding. Great video. Will be doing that to the 05 vert soon. Yes the Swaybar end-links get clunky about every 60k, and are easy to replace. Very cool to see how it all goes together.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any help you can offer me!
Great video. I have a 2007 Saab 9-3 Sedan. I recently installed some 18" aftermarket wheels, but I can some clanking sounds on the road. Would the blistein b6 be good?
i bought some H&R 50mm lower progressive rate springs for about the same delivered. best money ever spent on the car. Suspension and slotted discs soon though 👌 is there anything sexier than a slammed SAAB? 🤔😜
They're cleaned off. I do that stuff after working on my family's cars. If it were someone else's car I would leave them there because people get weird about that stuff.
I'm not sure since they have totally different sub frames but go to Stagg or ebay stagg for your year and model the 95,personally they ride better than the megan racing 32 way adjustable coilovers!!! Yeah, that good!!!
A good idea for a video I think is pretty relevant is how to jack up a Saab, especially a lowered one. I've had a really tough time getting mine off the ground, especially onto four jack stands. The jack spots with the little rubber thing on them are extremely difficult to use a jack on, unless you have a large cup. Even with a large cup rolling jack they don't sit quite right. Also finding stable spots for jack stands under the vehicle is quite difficult. Pretty simple stuff, but for some reason they didn't make it easy on Saabs.
Thanks for the video. So to make sure I've got this right before ordering new struts, you think the welded on bracket has the brake line and ABS sensor connections in the right place? Looks like in 2008, Saab switched to a single strut part number that could be used on either side of the car. Unfortunately, it's impossible to get Koni front struts for a +2008, so I'm planning to get the pre-2008 and hoping no cutting is necessary.
@@RetroKadez he's talking about the Stagg Kit on eBay. It will fit, however it's not high quality like a Koni or Bilstein shock/strut, and like an Eibach or H&R spring.
@@SaabDr Gotcha, what are your thoughts on these? That I'm posting below. Probably just do the front ones for now. www.1aauto.com/2003-10-saab-9-3-strut-and-spring-assembly-pair/i/1assp01477?f=1120124&gclid=Cj0KCQiAnNXiBRCoARIsAJe_1cp7WqwfzemYaFvM7IWTBJmfmwBX8mI8cNxwP7AV6iky2AELsyTfNPgaAj14EALw_wcB
@@RetroKadez personally I don't like non OE front springs -- since most of the time they make the back look saggy, however that does look like a good value. I'd do the rear with them though and just replace all 4 springs with ones from the right manufacturer. Sorry about taking a few days to respond - for some reason the notification didn't come through.
Hello Saab Dr, I need your idea please. I got saab 93 aero v6, I noticed and took the measurements of the front suspension "left hand side is higher than the right hand side" the right side tire is much closer to the fender. I have changed the both front shock absorber.. But still the same issue. Could it be the control arm?
For tightening the top nut on the strut? I agree if you have the right socket (one where you can put a wrench over it and turn so you have access to the Allen. If you don't you can use the trick I used -- most people won't have one which is why I used that trick.
Thanks for the video. Just replaced the front shocks and end links on my 2009 9-3 Aero SportCombi XWD and your video was helpful. And using the kit from esaabparts.com made it easy as the spring was already installed.
I'll be doing some suspension work on my Viggen this spring. It's a bit different and requires more tools but it's not that hard. It's just knowing how to do it.
Why the 'Rice Boy" Monotube type bilstein choice ? those are Rock Hard shox and best for Gymkhana rather than real life uses. Plus they beat the hell out of mounts And the 9-3 has really Poor /weak strut mounts.
They actually don't ride terrible and the B8 is a good pairing for the springs in the car. As for the mounts, a few years and 30k+ miles later there's no issue. Also I'd never call any Bilstein "rice boy"... But ok.
Thanks for the answer, just wanted to check you were aware the B8’s are for lowered vehicles. It’s come up before where people were confused by Bilsteins product range, you might want to add something in the description before people rush out to buy B8’s when they really need B6’s after watching this. Loving your channel though, there can never be enough Saab information out there to keep these cars on the road.
@@karlchallis I'll throw something in the description. -- thanks for mentioning that! I figured that since I brought up that it has lowering springs that would clarify. Also finding B8s in the US is difficult to begin with, so I'm not sure how many people are going to buy them.

Yeah the first time I was told that they were lifetime warrantied here I was really confused. So I bought a couple sets to see. Sure enough, no questions asked they've exchanged 4 sets for me in the past year.
According to shock/strut manufacturers they say 50k miles. I think they last longer, but since the cars are aging I'd think at least the non magnetic ride ones are in need of replacement (and maybe even the magnetic ones if they're making noise). Which suspension does your NG 9-5 have?
@@SaabDr I was just curious about the Saab 2011 9-5 cuz I'm interested in purchasing one just thought the information would be good. Thanks for the information and the Speedy response

I use the impact on the top strut nut while it is still mounted to loosen it, has never failed, them just hand tighten then take off the strut
You can buy the Stagg kit with lowering springs front and back for like 250 on ebay and they ride great on my Areo
