Dass eines der herrlichsten Werke der gesamten klassisch-romantischen selbst in diesen harten coronabedingten Zeiten so hervorragend zu hören ist, gibt wirkliche Hoffnung, auch heute, 4 - 5 Jahre später. Danke, lieber HR
So sad to see so many people whining about aspects of this performance. Given the current health crisis, we should be thankful that we are getting any new music at all. In order to keep the musicians safe, the only options are to severely reduce orchestra sizes, or perform in very large venues. Just saying.
You probably dont care but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Cyrus Samir Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
This makes me so happy 💖 to see what the best amongst us did in the face of this 🧬🪦. I salute you in your GREATNESS as does Mendelssohn from the spirit of his every existing legacy! Breath-takingly beautiful!!! 🇩🇪
Fantastic photography especially for younger people hearing a familiar piece and now able to understand the source of the instruments and combinations that created the sound..My compliments to them as well as the orchestra.
A wonderful performance. Liked the venue and the acoustics. Great for the brass and it didn’t seem to have any negative impact on the strings. A delight for my day. Of course the production was first class. Thanks.
Those among us whose goal is perfection what you say is true in a sense. I would add though that I hear every vibrant ricochet. I hear every delicate nuance. And I say there lies in this performance a quality greater, more powerful and more brilliant "for our time" than any desired perfectionism that I can speak of.
Ich freue mich für jeden Musiker, der die Möglichkeit erhält aufzutreten. Aber was ist mit denen, die ausgeschlossen werden, die nicht dabei sein dürfen? Bei dem Gedanken möchte ich am liebsten weinen.
Interesting. I asked several friends to make as close to a side-by-side comparison of this video with others of the Mendelssohn as possible. None of us found the sound such a problem that we felt it was worth noting, as have three others who've commented here. Did we observe differences in the quality of sound? Yes. Were there other performances my friends or I preferred to this? Yes. It was suggested that there may be nothing wrong with the hearing of those who did not find the "mush of sound" so noticeable and that psychology and/or other non-acoustic factors may have played a role in what viewers/listeners heard. One friend did remark that he wondered if seeing the performance while listening to it had influenced how the sound had been perceived. I post this comment not to criticise or argue with those who remarked on the sound, but only to indicate that assuming equal hearing acuity, people can hear the same sounds differently.
On the contrary, I believe he is one of the best younger conductors of our age. He has taken my home orchestra, the Houston Symphony from techincal competance under Hans Graf to lyrical brilliance today. Just listen to his release of Dvorak 7th on CD or the Noonwitch on this channel, both in my view superior to almost any recording available.

Thanks so much you saved my account!
@Marcus Blaze Happy to help xD
Großartige Musik, aber großartige Musik braucht ein großartiges Orchester, beides kommt hier beeindruckend zusammen.
Bravo! This is one of the most charming, delightful pieces in all of classical music 🎶💕
This is absolutely beautiful, I can't seem to say enough. Incredible conductor and musicians are mesmerizing. Thank you for this classic.

thank you all
I was in midsummer nights dream
Whoa young Glenn Close on the flute
Not the best acoustic for this particular piece - I don't envy the violins trying to stay together in a mush of sound.
Right!!
Exactly!

It's a pity the acoustic.....but in a Church is so
moin 9.21
This acoustic space is terrible. All the pieces played in this series are marred by way to much echo.
Terrible conductor, pity...
Why?
Wrong appreciations and with no arguments unless you know more than those who choose him as conductor here and in Wiener Philarmoniker, which I doubt.
Marcos E what? He's a great conductor.
Says the bloke who probably couldn't conduct his way out of a wet paper bag.
