  • The LoFree Flow is simply a great mechanical keyboard. It isn't without a few quirks, but it packs two pretty significant punches (POM switches + gasket mounting) that shape an excellent low-profile typing experience.

I followed up with the company - they sent me funny information. Wired is 1000Hz, Bluetooth is 125Hz.

I love reviews like this... no faces, to people, only the keyboard! There are videos in which 99% of the video is just a face speaking, and no keyboard! Yours is the way I want.

I can't seem to figure out how to connect it via bluetooth. When I switch it onto usb mode, the light is already blinking on the caps key. When I hold down fn and then hold down 1 2 and 3 all the same time, it doesn't do anything. The directions are not really clear. How do I connect it via bluetooth??

When you switch to BT mode, try holding down just Fn + 1 (or 2, or 3, but not all three) until it flashes (probably faster than before). This should kick it into discoverable mode. I hope this helps ✌️

Thanks for your review. In your video, you noted the bluetooth latency is 98ms, and even 54ms for wired. That's quite high for latency. I am planning to use this on bluetooth most of the time and that 98ms is quite high even for office works. I happen to have Halo96 and you have reviewed that keyboard as well. Would you be able test what that bluetooth latency would be using the same method? This will make or break on my decision for buying Lofree Flow. Thanks!

i second this. only latency is stopping me from buying flow

@@mikes6502 hey. I took the leap of faith and bought lofree flow anyway and happy to report that the Bluetooth latency is not that bad. It is on par, if not ever so slightly better than halo96 on bt. The wake up does have delay though.

I got this keyboard and love the typing feel, but my win and alt key are inverted and there's no way to fix that with software. What a massive oversight

I’ve commented on one of the nasty feedback and bad way of “shoving one’s view” under fighterguard
    But
Personally, folks should get both linear and tactile, which both are incredibly smooth
I’ve only gotten the black tactile ones for now, but will be getting the linear whites later on due to how smooth all the reviews online have been raving 😊

This keyboard isn’t truly hot-swappable in the traditional sense. The placement of the pins in the phantom switches are custom so is the PCB so you can only use the Lofree phantom/ghost/wizard switches
This is a pretty big oversight no one mentions

Thanks for pinning this here - I mentioned it in my comparative review to the NuPhy Air75v2 and the Keychron K3, but must have forgot it here 👍🏻

Very good keyboard key down by the lack of key mapping (or even FN key lock) and Lowfrees terrible customer service (still waiting for them to reply to my email about buying an extra set of switches )

Why would you recommend such an expensive mechanical keyboard that is absolutely closed, with no means of configuration or personalizations whatsoever? That's as essential as it gets for this type of product, and renders it 100% unacceptable.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  10 місяців тому +2

Hi Sergio, first, I totally understand your disappointment regarding the software restrictions - I would much prefer if it were QMK/VIA compatible, which is why I mentioned that as one of the major drawbacks. That said, I still think the Flow is worth discussing because that isn’t a make-or-break feature for everyone. Many people, myself included, are drawn to mechanical keyboards for their hardware customizations as well as their software flexibility. Which is more important varies by individual. And in the case of the Flow, while I would have liked to see more software customizability (possibly in the works), the hardware firsts are worth it in my opinion because the switches, materials and physical design are all excellent - creating my favourite feel in a low-profile keyboard to-date.
That said, I can only express my opinion, so to answer your question: I think the hardware customizations and physical typing experience are excellent - that’s why I chose to feature the Flow, but I too wish it was QMK/VIA compatible.

@@JakeReevesVideo thank you for your response. Also, while compatibility with open standards like QMK or VIA would be great, at least some proprietary software, like what Logi does with its Options app, would be better than nothing, and it's very disappointing to see that omission

    • @JakeReevesVideo

I agree. Software would be nice - I have spoken with the company about it and they mentioned they are working on some for upcoming products, but it wasn’t clear if that would be backwards compatible with the Flow, so I didn’t want to make any promises in the video. Fingers crossed though 🤞

You might be surprised but most people don't care about keyboard software customisation and even don't know such thing exists) Plus there are options like Karabiner-Elements which solve the problem of remapping some keys to personal preference on ANY keyboard. As for me, I have a K3 Pro which is VIA compatible, but it has no use for me as I'm ok with stock layout and don't need any specific macros (got a macropad for that).
PS typing this on my new Flow keyboard with tactile switches and I love it!
