- Thanks for joining me on this tour of Chicago Midway International Airport! Today's tour covers one of the busiest and most compact airports in the U.S. Chicago Midway's history as a hub for Southwest and local travel have made it a favorite of Chicagoans and out-of-towners alike, and even though it doesn't take up much space, there's a lot to see and do!
We'll check out each of the airport's three concourses and what to see, the landside terminal, and connecting to Chicago's famous rapid transit system, the "L", all in this video!
I do a lot of original research while preparing these videos, so please leave a comment below if you have questions about the tour or navigating the airport, and I'll do my best to answer them! Or, share your own thoughts and experiences about MDW!
Finally, let me know where you'd like to see next! Stay tuned for new flight and airport videos every weekend!
Please travel safely!

I remember MDW when we lived there, before they expanded and remodeled, you could park your car in the lot right outside the check in stations. You can see old Midway in the movie "North by Northwest".
I love seeing historic pictures of airports, before parking garages were everywhere. You could just drive up, park, and fly!
One of my favorite airports in the US! I love Midway! Many times I’ve taken the Orange Line Train to Downtown. I live in Cincinnati and originally from Nashville so I know this Airport extremely well! My favorite is the Nuts on Clark Popcorn place!
Excited for the O’Hare video! Love watching your videos and learning about these airports. Thanks for what you do! 😊
Wow, thank you!
Great airport.
fly high juice wrld 🕊️
You have such a soothing voice, I could listen to your videos for hours
Ahh beautiful Midway Airport lol. Crazy that this was the world's busiest airport for like 30 years
It still feels that way some mornings!
My cousin worked for TWA at Midway in 1969. It was practically deserted with only 40-flights x 2 arriving and departing. United Airlines was the dominant carrier. Limited food and bar service was provided by Fred Harvey. Today's Midway is unrecognisable from the airport in 1969.
I miss the days when Midway Airlines ruled MDW. My very first flight ever was in 1980 from MDW to MCO via a Midway Airlines DC-9-15 in their original blue and white livery. We went to visit Mickey Mouse. 😃🛩
Midway is Chicago's true airport as it is actually contained within the city.
Many would agree with you!
Midway's area is almost like a perfect square when it comes to mearsurements. As Chicago's 1st airport in South Side Chicago, today, it's best for domestic and pure North American flights.
It's almost exactly one square mile, in fact!
Excellent as usual 👌 thanx for sharing 👍
Love and appreciate your continued support!
Denver is at a much higher elevation and requires a longer distance for landing/takeoff roll. Thus it has to have a stupidly larger area to accommodate.
It most certainly does; some of the longest commercial runways in the country. It's more to highlight how small MDW, not how big DEN is ;)
I'm gonna be coming here July 10th! Kinda scared because I'm coming from Albany airport and have a layover at Midway.
You'll do great!
Great review!! My family home airport been there many times. Like O’Hare they have good public transportation if u don’t have a car via trains
Hoping my flight from Love parks in concourse A so I can see the exhibit
All concourses are connected airside, so no matter where your gate is, you can still go see it! :)
@@MilesByFoot I figured that. How far is baggage from the Orange line terminal?
It's a 5 minute walk I'd say. Once you have your bags, follow the signs to the CTA/Orange Line (which involves an elevator, if I recall), then you'll walk along a long corridor lined with art to get to the station.

O’Hare airport is better to be honest
Midway is a ridiculously SMALL airport . It's very unfair that Southwest DOMINATES over 90 % of the terminal gates. It's MONOPLOLY. They should surrender some gates to allow for more airlines. More choices make for HAPPIER customers.
MDW serves an important purpose, but there's no question that both of Chicago's airports are busy and overcrowded, especially during peak travel seasons. The way I see it, at least, both do the best they can with what they have!
This video is out-of-date. The face mask mandate was revoked several months ago.
I mention that in my video description. :)
@@MilesByFoot Sorry, I missed that.
