THAT is democracy! The people didn't accept an authoritarian move and went to the streets to ask for his impeachment. Congrats to the brave people of South Korea!
It was not authoritarian move. In fact, whats happening in Korea is lawmakers dictatorship. Plz look at what they proposed and passed the government’s budget. They cut all the bills for impaired, children, unemployed, and science and technology. They only increased lawmakers’ salary by 60% with a huge budget cut. The foreign media should look into it and find out why Yoon took utterly exptreme approach such as imposing Marshall Law.

I have a message of extreme regret for the left-wing media, like CNN BBC, for meddling in domestic affairs, calling for democracy. Isn't it enough for a left-leaning media like CNN to spread the propaganda that democracy is working properly to the world? lol Since when was democracy in the West working and just? Democracy is already corrupt. South Korea has already gone to the Red Team and Japan, too, cheer up Westerners for the day when they go to the Red Team! You are the most vicious hypocrites of all time. Peace~! LOL

My honest thouht is.... It seems the second Copenhagen-based reporter needs to study far much more than she currently does. The gap between her and Laura is rather significant.
How many of these negative comments are coming out of China. Most the country was asleep during martial law. Lee Jae-myung lead the charge for impeachment, but when you look at his past, he’s extremely corrupt.
I am most glad that democratic process has proceeded solidly, even in the face of insane circumstances such as anti-constitutional martial law imposed by the country's highest power, and that its conclusions are in line with the will of the majority of the people.

Although South Korea is a developed country, the number of Nobel Prize winners is overwhelmingly low. It's embarrassing. This proves that Korea developed by utilizing technology from other countries.
Yoon is nonetheless trying desperately to make a case for himself even after the voting, saying: "I will never give up. And I will continue to fight for the country." I was absolutely dumbfounded by his stupidity.
The psychiatrist said that he seemed to have paranoid pseudosocial symptoms, delusional disorder symptoms, and suspected shared psychosis. He is mentally ill.
2024. 12. 15 To the Intellectuals of the World, Yesterday in South Korea, the National Assembly passed a motion to impeach the president. You may have heard or seen this in the news. Initially, the grounds for impeachment were related to the president’s declaration of martial law, but this was dismissed as it was found not to be a constitutional violation. Subsequently, the charge was changed to sedition. However, constitutional scholars argue that sedition, as defined within the scope of presidential authority, does not constitute valid grounds for impeachment. Despite this, the impeachment was pushed through via a vote. Now, the final decision rests with the Constitutional Court. Yet, there is precedent from eight years ago, when the Constitutional Court unanimously upheld the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye. At that time, it is likely that the justices acted under pressure and fear. The political turmoil in South Korea traces back over 70 years of history. All major incidents in South Korea’s history have been unfortunate events that occurred during the exercise of state governance, often influenced by hidden forces in the background. As someone who has witnessed and experienced events over the past 50 years, I would like to share a few examples: 1967, January: I witnessed the sinking of the ROK Navy vessel Dangpo due to shelling by North Korean coastal artillery along the East Coast. 1971, January: I witnessed the hijacking of a South Korean airplane by an embedded North Korean spy, which crash-landed during an attempted return to North Korea. 1975, December: I witnessed the interception of a North Korean spy vessel off the East Coast. 1981, May-June: I witnessed the repulsion of armed North Korean infiltrators along the East Coast. Since the late 1970s, North Korea has actively infiltrated South Korean universities, recruiting students as “Kim Il-sung Scholars” to propagate pro-North ideologies. These efforts transformed universities into hubs for North Korea’s propaganda. They instigated movements under the guise of democracy, human rights, equality, peace, unification, and the slogan of "Our Nation First." For over 40 years, such rhetoric dominated public discourse in South Korea, with the ultimate aim of expelling U.S. forces and the United Nations Command as prerequisites for unification. Many intellectuals, hearing these slogans for decades, aligned themselves with these movements, often for personal gain. In the 1990s, a wave of murders created widespread fear among South Koreans. Many citizens called for the execution of serial killers, yet some youth groups, backed by religious organizations, opposed capital punishment. Such contradictions in public sentiment reflect the confusion and chaos of South Korean society during this period. All of this was part of North Korea’s strategy of subversion through a united front. Eight years ago, the intellectuals who led the impeachment and imprisonment of President Park Geun-hye did so primarily for political gain, seeking opportunities such as nominations as opposition party candidates. Park Geun-hye’s father, President Park Chung-hee, was a leader who transformed South Korea through the Saemaul Undong (New Village Movement). Yet South Korean high school students, upon entering universities, are indoctrinated to demonize both Syngman Rhee (South Korea’s first president) and Park Chung-hee. The reason is simple: only Kim Il-sung must be recognized as the sole leader of the Korean people. Even today, university students adhere to such ideologies, believing that doing so is the path to intellectual recognition and better career prospects-or perhaps because they have been thoroughly indoctrinated. From 1998 to 2007, the South Korean government provided $6.95 billion in aid to North Korea, equivalent to 26 years’ worth of food for the North Korean population. However, this money went directly to the North Korean regime. Yet, South Koreans cannot voice any criticism of North Korea’s exploitation of its own people. Why is this the case? Compare the South Korean government’s approach with that of Germany. The Freikauf (ransom policy) was a West German project that paid economic compensation to East Germany in exchange for the release of political prisoners. Germany’s aid was always tied to specific outcomes. If the intellectuals and governments of the world continue to support South Korea’s pro-North administration without examining its reality, they too will be complicit in undermining justice, and their integrity as intellectuals will rightly be called into question. A crime is a violation of the law. By this standard, the current South Korean president has committed no crime. However, the political actions of the pro-North left, including media propaganda and threats against the judiciary, are illegal and immoral. True justice is grounded in adherence to the law. A person is defined as one who acts according to the law (truth and righteousness). In contrast, humans as animals are driven by emotions, deciding right and wrong based on personal feelings. I hope this distinction is understood. Thank you.
The Korean people resolve everything peacefully. It’s truly admirable and something the whole world should emulate. They accomplished such a significant task without anyone getting hurt or killed.
Sorry, but Malene seems unable to answer any questions properly. She seems to lack knowledge, unlike Laura, who has lived in South Korea for a long time and is an expert on the country and its people. I don't think it's appropriate to ask about such a large topic to someone like Malene, who clearly doesn't have a clue. It was dreadful to watch her jibber-jabber.
Sorry, the second reporter portrayed my country as divided without hope. But that is not true. We have been united around the impeachment move and will be working together to get through this as done in the past.
Constitution of the Republic of Korea Article 1 The Republic of Korea is a democratic republic. Article 2 The sovereignty of the Republic of Korea resides in the people, and all state authority emanates from the people. We will never give up democracy.
Thank you South Korea! You showed to whole world how to protect your democracy in your country! Let's hope people all over the world will take your example from your bravery when their "leaders" take their liberties and freedom! I'm looking at you over the ocean! (Can't say it or my comment get deleted). What a freedom!

Many U.S. soldiers sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Republic of Korea. Please pray for President Yoon Suk Yeol as he stands against threats from China to defend a free Republic of Korea."
The journalist from the second interview (Melanie) seems to be out of her depth. Agree it’s not an easy question to answer when asked about how likely Koreans will be united behind a new leader. But if her understanding of Koreans ability to unite based on some LGBTIq issues and income inequality which most countries have, to be fair, no countries would be able to say they are well united. Expect a better quality candidate for interviews on BBC
I totally agree with you. In my personal opinion, Koreans united more and quicker than any other people in the world, especially when they faced a national crisis or disaster. (Oil spilled - cleaned up in 5 years, IMF - people give up their gold for the country, government corruption - impeached 2 presidents)

Hey Guys staying last two weeks in Korea, Lucky You!! You've watched the greatest demonstration show ever! 😆
[A Letter from S Korea]
- written right before the 1st impeachment vote
It's just about to vote for impeachment, which is probably not executed because of People's Power Party(PPP). In case we have succes to take out the craziest man in Korean Peninsula, everything is going back in the right place in order. More than 70% of Koreans are waiting for real politicians popping out from PPP...mostly called People's Burden Party, or People Poweless Party.
As a Korean, now we're sort of proud of our people and system which will never allow any kind of dictatorship, however, also so humiliated and embarrased to show the world this unimaginable stupid and irrational news instead of Oscars, Nobel Prizes, World Cup, or anything pleasant.
Nevertheless, please keep paitient to watch this worlwide democracy show and enjoy... In 10-15 years, we will be so pleased to deliver to every country the womderful news of totally upgraded Korea... There are still bunch of brainwashed peoplen in certain provinces, luckily most of them are very old so that it's gonna work by the power of time.
Then, we're gonna show whole world how to build a supreme democratic country from nothing. Yes, this is the real K-Wave. Much superior to any content like thousand of K-pops, K-movies or dramas.
Hello, World, enjoy this show, nation-wide road trip to Democracy. Wr are Korean, specialized in making something out of nothing.
Always appreciate all people who like Korea and our culture, thanks.

I have a message of extreme regret for the left-wing media, like CNN BBC, for meddling in domestic affairs, calling for democracy.
Isn't it enough for a left-leaning media like CNN to spread the propaganda that democracy is working properly to the world? lol

To the Intellectuals of the World,
Yesterday in South Korea, the National Assembly passed a motion to impeach the president.
As someone who has witnessed and experienced events over the past 50 years, I would like to share a few examples:
1967, January: I witnessed the sinking of the ROK Navy vessel Dangpo due to shelling by North Korean coastal artillery along the East Coast.
Thank you.
Everyone want him to pay for his crime! He should be locked up in prison!

Excellent! God bless Korea and may she prosper!
