      Everyone is asking for the Camera info. I'll pin this comment. Camera Sony A7IV ebay.us/3lxqWy and Lens Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 ebay.us/gjyeS4. Amazing Combo and the Bokeh on the lens exceeded expectations. I'm shooting at at F5.6. At f2,8 background blur is crazy. I was previously using the Canon 5D Mark III which is an amazing camera for photography but lacks autofocus in video mode..

    I might be sending you three hard drives soon. All no spin and not being recognized by the pc.
    I enjoy watching you repairs, I studied electrical technology in Eli Whitney HS but switched to electronicsc and communications in 1968 when in joined the US Army.
    . I am from Brooklyn. I enjoy you channel because you teach the proper analysis techniques and have all the proper tools. The correct analysis of a problem leads to a solution. I was taught that by my military instructors. If you did not know the theory of how the equipment worked you weren't allowed to use a scope or voltmeter. This was a discipline you were taught. I used it for 42 years. I retired from Verizon Business in Nyc
    I worked for many different companies over the years but still applied the same thing. Your are great teacher.
    Keep up the great work.thank you.

    One of yesterdays jobs was fitting a new micro USB (not the right one, obviously - that would be too easy) after someone else already tried and failed. It's now super solid (thanks to epoxy) but this video was very soothing - replacement using the right part that fits properly is a thing of beauty.

      Ditto. Just had to repair two where customer complained of heat and being slow. CPU running near 98 deg Celsius. Make habit of replacing thermal paste as well
      Toshiba and older Acer are the ones I see with dust, fan issues. Crappy design, but not high end systems. I just do it as hobby yo take wife out to dinner and not do HDL stuff 😉

      I also do a "refresh" generally, once it's open it's not too much extra, but I'd leave that to bigboss at Northridge if your component level guy has work backed up you don't want them doing easy stuff as much. So maybe these things get done during reassembly etc 👍

    In the past Thinkpads had connectors separated from the motherboard for power, Lenovo removed this and even large gamming machines where we have space, they still don't have separated connectors.
    The plastic they use can be strong for normal power bricks, but for 230W and higher, even the cable can do a lot of strain to the connector when hangs from the desk.

    • @Doman2000
      @Doman2000 Рік тому

      Yes, it is bad design, on the long (or short) time it fails under the stress.
      The older laptops almost all had a separate cable to the power connector, they hold fine after many years of heavy use.
      It will be even worse with USB-C i think?

    • @floppydisk1137
      @floppydisk1137 Рік тому

    I like your work, and speed of work. Lets abuse you little bit. "Low melt solder" .... does it mit it melts low ? Or it melt at lower temperature so you can call it "Low temp melt solder" Just reminder "we" listen what you are saying and trying to learn something with every repair. Good Work, have a Nice Day.

    • @miff227
      @miff227 Рік тому

      Educated guess: it's low temperature melt, so having some on the tip and going over the contacts mixes the normal lead free already there with the low melt. This makes a semi-low melt mix that means you need less heat added (or gives you longer "liquid" time after removing the iron.
      If moving from one end of a set of pins to the other, it means the first pin/pad is more likely to stay liquid/melted as you melt the last joint, and the component is free!
