David, thank you so much for putting together this informative video. The leveling bench is a nice feature, but I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on another Total Gym. My FIT is all I need and stands the test of time.
Correct me if I am wrong if you want the Total Gym experience you are better off buying the Evolve fully loaded than buying the Fit , and purchasing Accessories separately? Obviously there would be additional freight charges if all the Accessories didnt come in one shipment
The Fit would still be cheaper. The Fit Anniversary Edition (tinyurl.com/fit-anniv) comes with all the similar attachments as the Evolve (tinyurl.com/tg-evolve) except the extension rope (tinyurl.com/tg-attach) if you want to do Pilates leg exercises (an additional $20). However, the Evolve (tinyurl.com/tg-evolve) is a premium model. It includes the adjustable glideboard (which isn't available on the Fit), a larger squat stand, a taller column with 16 levels of resistance, a stronger steel frame and a thicker, larger padded glideboard. I also realized that there is no manual available for the Evolve yet on the TGdirect page, what is rather unusual. The manuals for the FIT Max and Ultimate where online shortly before they were sold and I wonder why 🤔. I immediately wanted to check for it as soon as I realized it had came out to know what attachments are included and to get an impression.
Great video! I’m wondering if you can attach the pulley to the tower in this model. That would be a feature I would find valuable. But, I wonder if the weight bar holes being higher up the board would prevent using the bar and weights with the dip bars. I can’t wait to see videos of it in action!
If I didn't already have a TG Fit, I would consider the Evolve. But, I want to see real life videos of the Evolve in use, as well as first-hand appraisals by users. Can you justify buying it in order to review it? (Or, would Total Gym be willing to give you a loaner for that purpose?) I am definitely looking forward to seeing and hearing more about this.
The leg pulley comes with the model as a standard attachment. It is my understanding that the Pilates toe bar for the Fit will work on this model. I hope to test it out soon! Stay tuned!
Hi David.I am deciding between the Evolve, and the Fit.Is there a limit in how many dumbells you can add to the weight bar for more resistance. Also does the Evolve come with a Lat bar?
Hi, Peter - The weight bar that Total Gym sells has a maximum load capacity of 180 lbs (90 lbs each side). Keep in mind, you can't exceed the maximum load capacity of model you have. For example, if you have a unit that has a 300 lb. max user weight and the user weighs 200 lbs. the max weight that can be added on each side is 50 lbs. FYI ... The Fit (tinyurl.com/fit-anniv ) has a 450 lb max weight capacity and the Evolve (tinyurl.com/tg-evolve) has a 500 lb weight capacity.
Hi, Peter - The Evolve comes with the "standard" pulley arms like on the Fit. The LAT bars are only available on the GTS and Encompass (commercial grade models). The LAT bars let you move the pulleys into different positions to adjust the line of pull. Did that answer your question?
I have a FIT that I bought on QVC their after Holidays Sale for a little less than $700. Would like the bench level feature but TG’s pricing is insane.
I just bought the Fit recently, so I, personally am not in the market, but I am thinking about purchasing one for a friend of mine who can't afford it.
Honestly it’s a miss. Total gym had a great opportunity to make a home version of their total gym encompass. It only throws a few features of the commercial models. And priced way over a QVC fit deal. They needed a higher tower and the ability to hook the cable directly to the rail.
Good point. I'm not sure is the wheels are different than the ones on the Fit or if they are using the same ones as on the GTS. If I hear anything, I will let you know.
@DavidsTotalFitness , that's what I'm interested in seeing, too! If they offer the Evolve for a deeply-discounted price, they can probably sell a lot of units...but will a QVC price still be too high? Will QVC still sell the Fit as a "Today's Special Value"? Part of the pitch has been its being the "top of the line" consumer model, but that will no longer be true! I guess we'll have to "stay tuned"! 😉

I asked Total Gym if they would provide a review unit, but I have not heard back. I would like to try it!
I would have preferred they offered an upgraded leveling glideboard option for the FIT versus this.

Hmm not sure about this one. What about the glideboard wheels? Yes the GTS is more expensive but might be more worth it
