So many great people and memories. A big off road family. Had new ?'79 KX 250, loved that bike, but joined the Army later that year. Miss that bike....God I'm old....
I LOVE IT I'M THE GUY ON THE RED HONDA WITH A BLACK HELMET THAT PULLS THE HOLESHOT 😁 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS FOOTAGE LOVE RACING SADDLEBACK THANK YOU SO 🏆🏁✝️
I miss that old picket fence. I still have an old Saddleback Saturday Trophy. Sad- Back was the only track in so cal that had MX racing on Saturdays & the best part was the motos were 40 minutes, not 20 minutes like most of the other tracks. Gone but Not forgotten.
Last raced Saddleback and Carlsbad in "72". CMC and AME #34. Saddleback was fun in practice as there was unlimited traction, but by race time it was mostly blue groove racing. Had good success there as with Carlsbad. Great memories and experience. Got to race with some of the best riders of the time. I really liked the starting hill as it separated everyone and I had a very fast Bultaco Pursang.
Bob hannah was the man in this time period ! I raced local 250 cmc races and my freinds and i had a wall in our apt on the ground floor completly coverd with every pic of bob hannah we cut out of every dirt bike mag we could find HANNAH WAS THE KING !!!!
I had the Hannah centerfold from mxa where he was tearing his Yamaha jersey open and he had Superman shirt underneath it was so cool it was inside my locker door in high school
I miss Saddleback Park so much! I raced there between 1975-79 with CMC #62e it was a fast track once you got dialed in while still being rough as hell and slick like greased glass at times. What a pity Saddleback & Carlsbad fell victim to parasitic ambulance chasing attorney's.
I remember when Saddle Back park shut down due to the lawsuits and their insurance being cancelled, despite everyone who entered the park agreeing to sign a waiver of liability. Where did those days go ?
Interesting Track! Is it still in Use? Unfortunately the Great Carlsbad Circuit is Long Gone! The 1980 USGP Won by the Late Great 'No Fear' Marty Moates was one of the Greatest Races in MX History! -Cheers👍😁
Saddleback sadly closed in the mid '80s. RIP. & I was at the Carlsbad GP when Moates spanked everyone on His LOP privateer YZ It was a sight to behold! & the time Magoo won was also incredible. So cal MX got hit hard in those days, Indian Dunes track also closed down. It sucked!
@@tomvana4270 I would need to fist care about your opinion. I have the trophies, I have the pics, I (spent) the prize money. I give zero fucks about your thoughts. Now sit over there in your little corner and sulk. Child.

Brings back memories, I raced there in the early 80's and lived right by Indian Dunes!

God I wish this had sound👍🏻👍🏻
Those were the days. Saddleback looks like a great track.
The dirt and rocks at Saddleback were brutal !

Some of the clearest footage I've seen that's how I remembered it thanks
My home track. I miss Saddleback.
You were blessed
We were there every weekend in the early 80s, the land is still there too bad we can't ride on it

air shocks that championships were won with, and we still don't have them.
Fox Shocks and Simon’s forks. Now Fox makes all their money selling tshirts to kids that don’t ride.
I had Fox air shox on my 79 Husky cr250. I don't miss the wide girth of dual shocks..
Back in the day there wasn't a handbook on riding technique
I’ve got one somewhere that Gary Bailey wrote. The professor of motocross.
Love the footage. Thanks for posting it! Reminds me of Carlsbad.
How many of us rode around on our BMX bikes making two-stroke sounds while we were poppin wheelies? GUILTY🤪
Yep😂
Not me ! 😆
the start of the best years in motocross/dirtbikes....the 1980's!!!
You're absolutely right, I miss my 84 CR250

That was Marty's day and huge day for US MX. I can watch the footage of that race over and over.
@@toxsickdog What a Race to be at! That was one of the Greatest rides in MX History imho! No One would have predicted that outcome!👍😁
@@davidm4160 💯👍 Lucky it was filmed, It was one of the Greatest rides in MX History -Cheers
@toxsickdog Too many lawsuits 🤷🏻♂️
We used to sneak in through the backside of Irvine park. 😂
You owe me some money man !

Looks like the track prep was twice as good in the 70s as it was in the dust bowl 80s.
Ano que eu nasci 79 🏍
Who filled all the holes in the track for this video?😅
EPIC!
#14 would be "steve wise" or "marty smith"
Marty but think Tripes!!!
Hmm I never knew Marty to be 14… but maybe in 79? Wasn’t he on Suzukis in 79
Awesome footage, is that Area 51?
Too bad there's no sound. Who is #14?
