Monty at 3:11 - priceless... Really get the feeling he's wondering what in the hell are you doing out there, when there's a nice warm camper van, and a faithful companion to keep you company. What I'd do to have a camper van to tour around the Lake District and Scotland. What a life. What pictures. What an experience. Another great video. Thanks Thomas. You're forgiven for giving in to a warm bed and a hot shower...
Dear friend Thomas, you had very nice van, i didn't know that there are vans with bed facilities, Thanks for making beautiful and informative clip, I just now subscribed to your channel, Love Scotland, whenever i visit Scotland , i just love the beautiful nature in Scotland, it's so relaxing and peaceful, the village people are so welcoming ,caring and Hospitable.
Just back from Scotland myself but thankfully had better weather in The Trossachs, slightly further south. The autumnal colours were spectacular. Having viewed this series upon my return I can't wait to go back. Well done.
The confession was amazing. I laughed out loud. Your personality is what makes your vlogs so good. I would watch them even if I was not a wannabe photographer. I frankly would not care if you spent every night in a hotel. The campervan gives you options which you can choose to use or not. It does not mean you have to test your toughness at every opportunity. Thanks for all your hard work producing content. It must take a lot of time and I bet it drives Charlotte crazy. You however are at the top of your craft and you are my favorite vlog on UA-cam. Thanks again.
What an amazing place Tom and you had such a great set up, awning up, nice and dry, cuppa only meters away, and a spectacular view. I loved the simplicity of the image you took of the valley, it really highlighted some of the fantastic colours and textures in the landscape and the leading line provided by the river was perfect. Devil’s Pulpit looked incredible and the colours on the image you captured were so vivid. There is no doubt that Glencoe and Scotland for that matter is beautiful full of wonderful landscape photography opportunities. Thanks for taking us with you on your trip mate, I hope to visit one day.
Hey Thomas - That spouse+ dog + van combo definitely takes a measure understanding from all three of you. I can relate. One key to me is to focus on your organization skills, and of course the vision man, the vision.
it's a beautiful place Scotland, I lived in Tasmania for twenty years and the resemblance to Scotland is quite uncanny. Wonderful video again, love your style. Cheers, Paul.
Always love the videos and look forward to each new one. Love the V-dub mug! Love the dog! Great Glencoe image, patience is always easier under an awning with a mug of coffee. The Devil's Pulpit is something else.
Love how you talked about the "other side" of landscape photography. The dramatic and atmospherical approach. Like you said sometimes these shots are not the best, technically, but they are so beautiful and artistically meaningful. Keep up the great work Thomas!
I enjoy your videos, you are becoming relevant in this space wether people like your photos or not, you sure are building your name. Keep up the good work
That has to be a bloody heavy backpack - and make those slick steps an adventure to get down and back up! I have a similar Tamrac bag which carries everything and I often split out what I think I'll need into one of their sling packs. Really cuts down on a lot of weight and makes hiking easier, but sometimes having everything with you is necessary for the variety of shots that might be possible. And who wants to miss a shot! :-) One other thing - I got a rain cover that fits my camera for a recent Fall shoot in the Smoky Mountains from Storm Jacket you might like to look into. There are others, of course. But it looks like you get out in a bit of rain too! (Thanks for the great video and taking us along for the journey.)
Love your dog, a curly Labradoodle. We too have a Labradoodle which is a shaggy one and I fully agree with your wet dog problem in a small camper van. We got to the stage where we had our shaggy dog clipped short so he was easier to dry off. I like your videos, you show that we must get out with our cameras whatever the weather.
The contrast of that little white house at 5:20 against the dark granite, the red heather and the mood of the skies was crying oot fae some exposure wee laddie... other than that, good content, great consistency, keep at it mate.
Sorry to be so off topic but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Kaiden Dax thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Great set of videos, next time you're coming to Scotland don't forget to drive around the applecross peninsula and around assynt, there are some wonderful locations for landscapes
I thought you would be including the stream that was just ahead of you... still it's an amazing pic thank you for sharing your videos it has become a great help to me and my photos
Interesting watching one of your old vlogs as I only started watching your channel a year ago. First time I've seen the dog :-) Came across your vlog in researching Finnich Glen/Devil's Pulpit for a photography trip I have planned to Fort William & Skye next May. heard about this place and decided to make it a bucket list site to do and stay overnight nearby as heading up from 'down south'. Won't get autumn colours but think it's still a 'must see'. Hope I can get my camera gear down those sketchy steps!
Thomas, plase tell me that you took a photo of the house with the misty mountain behind it. At 5:20 on the video. I think it would be a great composition too.
Hi Thomas, great video! Glencoe is one of my favourite locations to photograph, especially the spot you found! The Devil's Pulpit is something else, it's absolutely terrifying getting down if your not confident on your feet however it's totally worth it! You have reminded me that I really need to go back! Thanks for the great channel mate, thoroughly enjoy watching your content! Stuart.
My two favourite places to shot and the added bonus that they are both only an hour or so away from my front door, if you get the chance Tom you should visit the Outer Hebrides there is some amazing shots to be had!!
Found your youtube videos about month ago and so far i really have enjoyed them all. Would really would like to see more of your final images and how you edit them.
i was at finnich glen(devil's pulpit) earlier this year, very similar conditions.i waded thru the water, thigh deep,to get to the devil's pulpit itself, then further into the gorge for some cracking shots.i highly recommend, getting wet,and walking thru the water to get some real cracking compositions.
Thanks Tomas Heaton, very good all of your work! in 4 weeks I m going to Patagonia! Im not a landscape photographer but I'll try to do my best. You are a inspiration for me.
Another great video. Good stuff. Please tell me you also captured that really nice small white house at the bottom of the mountain at 5:19. That would definitely make a great image too.
great series of videos, made better by the fact that I visited most of the locations over the summer. sadly didn't have a very good camera to work with.
Hi Thomas, I enjoyed the trip Photo's to Glencoe and devils pulpit, great locations,on one of your video's you said you would include your camera settings,it would give us some ideas to what the settings should be. Regards ron
Awesome, Thomas. Really really hope that you can get somewhere with the Pilot you shot for a Landscape Photography TV Show. I just don't see how it wouldn't be a successful show and watched by many beyond those of us loyal to this UA-cam channel. If there was anyway I could support it to make sure it happened, please let us know! Kickstarter etc. I am there. -Aaron
I spotted at least 3 other great compositions....sometimes it´s annoying: I just want to ride my bike or have a walk and I see compositions wherever I go:D I have to go to Britain/Scotland- so many cool places (I´m from Germany btw) ;)
Thomas, I love all your videos but this road trip has been fantastic! And something else that I noticed is that although you use music you are sparing with it, which I do appreciate. A lot of video producers seem to feel that music 'holds people's interest' and they use it even under dialogue-but I find that very distracting. It's a welcome relief when someone simply speaks into the camera with no audio clutter. Thank you!
love love the devil's pulpit it's only an hour away from me and oh my gosh the bruises and nearly broken bones to get in there 😂 I have dyspraxia as well so it makes me more off balance. I last went there in June 2014 will need to get back down there again.
Always love traveling with you on youtube, Thomas. Early in the video I had the mistaken impression that your wife was with you and that she insisted on the hotel. Well, you earned a break.
another awesome video Thomas. I have a small request. could you add in your camera setting Everytime it is the picture slide show so we that we know. cheers
I live 30 mins from the Devils Pullpit I often go gorge walking with friends there its often very cold but I've never gone with my SLR due to always being in the water.
Pfff, I did Scotland on a motorcycle and little wee tent. Loved it so much that a couple years later I did it all again, without seeing the inside of a hotel even once. Got to admit though that a hot shower is bliss ;).
Thomas- You probably already know this tip-- but toilet seat covers (tissue paper) make great lens wipes for conditions like this. They absorb water well, and don't leave any fibers or residue. Best of all, they are available almost anywhere, for free! They worked miracles for me while in Iceland. -Zack, Seattle WA
Again, a great new episode Thomas! Just love watching it and really like your honesty and "rawness". Today's episode left me wondering, what does Charlotte usually do, when you're travelling together and you've headed out for a couple of hours to take photos?
Monty at 3:11 - priceless... Really get the feeling he's wondering what in the hell are you doing out there, when there's a nice warm camper van, and a faithful companion to keep you company.

Yes it makes sense and it's not always easy to capture 'how it feels' but every once in a while it happens. Glen Coe is simply gorgeous to gaze at!
Another good film. Amazing place to go and take photographs. Looking forward to the winter weather now up there. Atb

Awesome to see you push even in the rain to get your image! The Devils Pulpit is stunning! Great work!
Thanks for another interesting video, Thomas. The shot of Monty's quizzical look from the driver's seat is priceless!

Wow what an amazing place and you covered it so beautifully.
Loving the regular uploads!
I'm trying my best to keep it regular. thanks.

Your dog in the driver's seat, at 3:11, made my day. Thanks again for sharing!
it's a beautiful place Scotland, I lived in Tasmania for twenty years and the resemblance to Scotland is quite uncanny. Wonderful video again, love your style. Cheers, Paul.
Wonderful, looking forward to your next video Thomas
I''ve watched all your videos repeatedly. I had to say how amazing your work is. i can't wait to shoot something half as good.
Always love the videos and look forward to each new one. Love the V-dub mug! Love the dog! Great Glencoe image, patience is always easier under an awning with a mug of coffee. The Devil's Pulpit is something else.
Enjoy watching your videos Tom, keep them coming.
Congratulations to you and Charlotte on your wedding. Love that campervan and your vlogs.
Thank you again for your great vlog. Every time I'm getting lazy and question my self. Your video really helped me to pull my self together.
I needed this video especially today... Thank you.
I know exactly what you mean.
bought your eBook and love your vids and your down to earth nature! brilliant and I am so loving your van!
Love how you talked about the "other side" of landscape photography. The dramatic and atmospherical approach. Like you said sometimes these shots are not the best, technically, but they are so beautiful and artistically meaningful. Keep up the great work Thomas!

Such a great photo in the canyon! Keep up the great work Thomas! I have been watching since you took your cover photo.
loved that shot at the devil's pulpit!
6:30 Whaaat? That's the result. Look at 5:20, the white cottage in front of the Buachaille shrouded in clouds - THAT would've been the picture!
AGH331 All about what focal length he was using, you dont see it in the vid on LCD.
nah
If you go there, you make your own choice.
AGH331 the white cottage is 90degrees on the left of the direction he is shooting
I took one of the cottage last year - instagram.com/p/BDTe_HrHO1t/?taken-by=ginger.phototographer
Love the arrangement!
Beautiful images....always good to pamper the better half as well :-)
Having a brew inside a campervan out of a classic campervan shaped mug. I love it!
The contrast of that little white house at 5:20 against the dark granite, the red heather and the mood of the skies was crying oot fae some exposure wee laddie... other than that, good content, great consistency, keep at it mate.
xactly what I thought! :)

still an amazing image even with the rain.
i love your dedication to get the photo you want

That gorge looked phenomenal, going onto my list!
Great Video as always Thomas
Another great video. Good stuff.
Please tell me you also captured that really nice small white house at the bottom of the mountain at 5:19. That would definitely make a great image too.

Great. Thanks for the tutorial.

Nice video!

Hi get yourself a pair of cheap waders and walk upstream and you’ll find the Devil’s Pulpit and the falls. Love your work.
I love the dog hanging out in the front seat. lol
"Making a brew ..." Thumbs up, very good. "... finish my coffee ..." Wait, WHAT?! Coffee?! I thought you meant tea! What kind of Englishman are you?!
I love your videos! It kind of feels like I'm watching Crocodile Hunter... but the photography version.
Devil's Pulpit certaintly reminded me of Outlander series!
