Thank you so much for watching, and for all of the support throughout the production of this video! Part 2 will be posted shortly with a deep-dive of the included mod code. I'll be posting corrections/edits here in this pinned comment. Hope you enjoy!
thanks for making these videos, great to see your process for doing this, you got me reinterested in RCT! just installed reshade and trying to improve the graphics, good times!
I don't post much comment but just wanted to say that I really enjoy the content, no matter how much time there is between videos. I find it hard to find good reverse engineering content and your channel is a goldmine. Cheers for your amazing work !
Thank you so much for sharing this - I was just saying elsewhere to a viewer that sometimes after the research, writing, recording, and editing is done, I think “Maybe no one is actually going to enjoy this, and this was a waste…” and comments like yours keep me going ❤️
I was super excited to see this pop up in my feed! Your last series motivated me to pop open IDA and finish a project I'd been putting off for too long. Looking forward to part 2!
Working on it as we speak! And that’s so good to hear - Likewise, your guys’ comments help motivate me through projects like this. Thanks for watching!
So glad to hear it - there will be another part as well (a deep dive into the code) but after the editing of this one, I’m taking a day or two off haha
The way you dynamically calculate the dib and color palette locations reminds me a lot of how you can find offsets by using cheat engine's pointer map feature. Pretty cool seeing how you can calculate them without using cheat engine.
Thanks for sharing! CE is very inspiring for videos like this, as whenever I've played with it, I always find myself hypothesizing over how they make X or Y feature work haha. Thanks for watching!
8:50 tip: in your file explorer window, right click on empty space and click "group by" > "(none)". That will disable file/directory grouping by it's date. Also, you should probably create a dedicated projects folder on a (preferably external) drive, instead of just slapping it on to your downloads folder.
Thank you! And yeah, the directory tip is true best practice and words for the wise…when I’m working on something personal and unserious like this though, it always starts as a downloads subdir, and tends to stay there 😂 Thanks for watching!
That is the only way to enjoy these long-form vids - I have a hard enough time watching them in one sitting while editing them hahaha. And I’d like to actually do some more modern games; I’ve had a personal goal of doing more with UE 5.0 so I can learn more about it in general, and if I’m successful in learning even a little bit, I think it would be fun to explore what modern game modding entails and what protections are deployed against it. But I’m also about to have another kid, so we’ll see 😂
@@jeFF0Falltrades Oh I cannot imagine! I have made a fair share of videos, but not one of this length and such delicate editing. Very interesting. I have been reverse engineering my childhood game (Midtown Madness), and with roughly 8 binary files reverse engineered, I am quite deep in the process of making a City Editor. I have no idea how modern games are in terms of structure and complexity, so that would be interesting to see what you may encounter / figure out. Goodluck with that 😜
Not yet, but I've added this to my running list of viewer-suggested topics for new videos! I agree that some kind of overview of various packers would be a great tutorial topic for an upcoming vid.
That’s so kind of you!! I do not have a separate site yet as I don’t feel comfortable enough yet to provide something on the levels of, say, Patreon, but you can leave tips via the “Super Thanks” feature on UA-cam. Please feel no obligation to do so, and thanks just for watching! EDIT: I have since learned that some people prefer not to use Super Thanks for various reasons, so I also set up a Buy Me a Coffee link, which is on my channel now.
Thank you so much for this comment! Truly, it means so much that this community that has evolved around the channel is so gracious and kind ❤️ Maybe one day, but for now, I’m basking in the free knowledge sharing sphere we have here
8:26 I don't understand why people watch reverse engineering or programming videos on a phone. It is imperative that reading code or assembly is going to be a lot easier on a larger display. People watching on a phone asked for it to be difficult.
This channel is so underrated. Keep up the good work man!
Greetings from Ukraine 🤗
@@alexey2780 Thank you so much! Excited to make more soon.

I swear, you are RE gold, mate! The project is really cool and I enjoyed every second of the last video, and I bet this is gonna be even better!

Almost 3 hours of content, you really made my week, thanks!

I was so bored with RE and this video sparks my interest again! Thanks for this great video!
So glad to hear that!!! Keep an eye out for more because I have a ton of fun making them :-)
This is seriously the best RE content on youtube

2,5 hours? I will watch this in parts with some nice coffee.
Are there any other games you're interested in modding in the future?

hi just wanna ask if you also have tutorials to reverse engineer packed software such as those protected by VMProtect.
