You spoke a little about the difficulties in dip/spin coating nyloc nuts. Can locknuts be zinc flake coated? If not, what is the suggested method of protection to pair a locknut with a Dacromet treated bolt?

Hi Pax! Nylon Insert Locknuts require a ductile finish when properly coated before installation of the nylon ring. Zinc flake coating is too brittle. If coating an off-the-shelf nut, care has to be taken not to degrade the already inserted nylon therefore high temp cure of zinc flake coating is a concern. The best option is to utilize an electroplated nut with a high performance sealer. The zinc flake coating companies offer top-coat sealers that perform very well at low cure temperatures. Let us know if you have any further questions!

Great video. Does the chemical available to buy? Or can I achive similar result with normal zinc paint? I would really love to try it on my old bike's and car's bolts. Thanks!

Thank you for your comment! Zinc flake coatings are not readily available for retail purchase. I would recommend that you search for an applicator in your area.
