I've lived in Dordrecht for 62 years, 25 of which in the old city, but half the places you go to I don't recognize instantly. For instance that Daily Meel: I went to elementary school around the corner in the Hofstraat, but I didn't recognize the street now. About the paardenworst from butcher Verkerk: the widow has given the recipe to butcher Gelderblom in Sterrenburg mall, and he is selling the paardenworst again since last week. It is also my understanding that Britons and Americans usually don't eat horsemeat. Did you like the paardenworst? (I love it, I eat it every week).
we had it a few times from verkerk as a special treat. we definitely enjoyed it! it’s true that americans don’t eat horse meat though. we hadn’t had it before moving to the netherlands :). thanks for letting us know we can still get it! daily meel just opened a few months ago! it’s right across from pim’s (the pannenkoek shop).
Merwede is one of the few words where every e is pronounced in a different way. First one as in get, second like the a in date. and third one as in different. Stress is on first syllable.
Hey hey, I live in Dordrecht for ally Life, this is zo fun to watch. Thank you for sharing! Is you want to have the real paarden worst from the closed butcher I have some Great news. DO I miss dutch chips (patat), met Zaanse of Remia mayonnaise, poffertjes (visit the 'Poffertjes Salon'!), en 'haring met uitjes' (herring with onions), niet te vergeten kipsate! (chicken in peanut sauce)........ Sorry, started speaking dutch when mentioning all this wonderful traditional dutch food, which I miss so much!! 'Niet te vergeten' means 'Do not forget'...... Be careful, when trying Belgian beer like Duvel, do not drink the last bit....., my wife sprinkled her ankle in the past when she did so! (and I forgot to warn her!). Enjoy yourselves!

Especially around the time of blossem its amazing around there.
Michelle's haircut looks very good! I like it!
You need to try gebak van Brokking and schapenkoppen koekjes. And Nobels Brood is awesome.
Merwede is one of the few words where every e is pronounced in a different way. First one as in get, second like the a in date. and third one as in different. Stress is on first syllable.
she thought it was merwekade, which is the nearby street and waterbus stop 😄
Hey hey, I live in Dordrecht for ally Life, this is zo fun to watch. Thank you for sharing! Is you want to have the real paarden worst from the closed butcher I have some Great news. In the shopping mall Sterrenburg winkel centrum butcher Gelderblom inside the mall has the original recipe for the Famous Dordtsche paarden worst! ❤
Next time try faja lobi pindakaas surinamese really good and you look good with you new hair cut
My lovely hometown ❤ (and yes my last name is "van Dordrecht"😅)
We will visit Dorderecht :-)
Smullers at Dordrecht station, also not bad
you are right 😂
You better be celebrating Carnaval in Breda or Eindhoven this weekend! 😁
we’re staying here in dordrecht 😅 there’s actually a carnaval parade here! though of course it’s much smaller than breda, den bosch, or eindhoven…
@@bunchartedsome people from Holland actually travel to the south. (brabant or Limburg) to be partying and celebrate carnaval. But the amount of people doing it there is just a lot smaller because it's not from that region. 😮😅
Culinary interesting city. The egg , peanut butter sambal sandwich echoes Dutch Chinese -Indonesian takeaway. The rest was more interesting.
Ok I'm just going spam your comment section apparently, but wow that Vietnamese stand has been there at least since 1993. 😍
it’s still delicious 😋
@@buncharted Btw, have you guys been to Valkenburg yet?
Nevermind, I'm watching it now apparently. 😂
😂😂😂 beat me to it!
Sun-dried tomatoes are umami
Edit: Omg hahaha a little bit further in the video, I WATCH GMM TOO! it’s my thing to watch when it’s lunchtime hahaha! Never heard someone mention them before, outside of the mythical beast platforms or something like that.. Makes me like you guys even more hahahh🥹
Edit part 2 hahahah:
Did you ever get the loempia’s from a Chinese restaurant? You talked about a “hot pocket size” loempia and I (as a dutchie) don’t really know how big a hot pocket is hahah, but the loempia’s at the chinese places are pretttty big!
Loooove peanut butter with sambal! I make a peanut butter, sambal (badjak, not olek or something like that) raw red bell pepper, fried onions (the ones you can buy in the supermarkets🤭) and sometimes bean sprouts, but without them it’s already very good! That was my go to “fancy” lunch at work hahahah (i’m declared unfit, I don’t know if that is the right translation, but I’m 31, chronically ill, MS, and can’t work anymore 😅)
Are you going to the south of the Netherlands for the carnaval next week?
sadly no, we’re partaking in carnaval here in dordrecht this year
Fonetisch, voor Engels sprekenden, klinkt 'Merwede' als 'Mare-way-de' qua uitspraak.
Love you videos, but I do have question
Are you gonna cover Big Rivers this year?
probably not, since covering a music festival would be difficult for our little vlogging setup, audio-wise
we will be there again though! 😁
My sister loves your backpack she has several sizes and colours herself
dordrecht looks really nice
it is very nice :)
'Goeiemiddag' Alex and Michelle! I was born and raised in Dordrecht, and moved to the UK in 1995! I am now 61... (shocked every time I remind myself!...), and got married in Gloucester where I also live with my wife who, was born in Leicester, and my 2 children who were both born in Gloucester.......BTW, they do not speak one word of dutch..... (long story...), other than swearing of which I told my son to 'use' in case of being approached by certain people in the streets of Amsterdam when visiting.... ('Sodemieter op!' for example.....:).....). Enjoy yourselves!
you know what good a grill cheese and ham and on de cheesr you put sambal
I love your short hair Michelle coz you look younger and more beautiful good job👍
