- Dual Boot NixOS and windows 11. Install NixOS alongside windows 11. This video shows you how to install NixOS on windows 11. Using dual boot you can set up windows 11 and NixOS on the same drive. Dual booting windows 11 and NixOS helps to use both operating systems at the same time. When you turn on your Pc it will ask you to boot into Windows 11 or NixOS. This way you can run both operating systems on the same computer hassle-free.
In this tutorial, I will be showing how to install NixOS alongside windows 11. This video follows the UEFI-GPT method. Meaning, all modern computer users can use this guide to dual boot their PC with NixOS on their existing Windows 11. There may be no data loss you will encounter while using this method, although it’s always recommended to back up any important data from windows 11 just to be on the safer side. If something goes wrong, you can retrieve the data. Apart from that as long as you follow this guide, you will be able to successfully able to dual boot NixOS and windows 11 on your PC or laptop.

Note: If your laptop or PC is running Windows 11 Professional Edition, there may be chances bit locker encryption is enabled out of the Box. Before dual booting its always a better practice to disable Bit Locker encryption to proceed with the NixOS installation

This worked really well for me using an Asus Zenbook S13. Disabling secure boot was the hardest bit & until then I couldn't set USB in the boot order. Thanks a lot for the video

i did the same stuff and nix did not install it was only the systemd boot menu which installed i checked some stuff and saw that nix did not even have a configuration file which is its configuration.nix file
Hi bro I was removed ubuntu from my laptop but I found an errors my laptop is not starting and restarting because I was assing two letters x and first time I does not visual all the options but whenever I assign another letter I can also see all the options but now my pc is not start automatically I can start using bios menu please help me 😢

I have 1 question. before i could split more than 100000 MB hard drive but now it doesn't stop at 93000 MB. Can you fix this?
Make sure you have free space left to shrink 100GB

So i accedentally did something wrong and i bricked pop os and now i need to reinstall
So i tried removing pop os but during removal of pop os efi disk part doesn't delete the efi partition it says its a system partition and stuff

I am sorry for not replying.. Do one thing, shutdown your computer and boot windows 11 from the UEFI Boot Menu.
When you are on windows 11, try again to delete EFI partition created for POP OS using Disk Part Shell running as administrator

I think there’s another command to restore the efi partition contents. I don’t remember but I think it was chkdisk /f or something
Using CHKDSK takes lot of time.
Does the same procedure also work for Blend OS?
I guess BlendOS uses JadeUI , the installer is bit different. Dual booting kinda possible but its needs some attention.

Installed NixOS but I don’t get the Win 11/NixOS option menu unless I go to bios boot menu and pick NixOS there first
Seems like NixOS installer didn’t install the bootloader in the correct place
sounds like your boot order in bios is reversed. try setting NixOS first, Win 11 second in the boot order.
