Thanks so much. I followed the guide. It works for me. For those who has issues with the boot loader not show up when pressing the spacebar, you need to add 'timeout 10' without quotes to /boot/efi/loader/loader.conf then reboot to change the timeout manually.

It important to note several things not mentioned in the video
    - Your storage devices have to be in AHCI mode otherwise the partitions will not appear in Pop OS. My Dell XPS 15 came with 2 SSDs configured in RAID. You have to disable hard disk encryption (if encrypted), enable safe mode on Windows 11, restart and go to boot menu and change RAID to AHCI. Restart and go back into Windows, remove safe mode and re-encrypt your hard disk (if encrypted)
    - Some machines, to get the boot menu, you have to press F8 (Dell XPS for example) instead of space bar. Then you can press 't' multiple times to increase the boot menu delay.

I have been having this problem, and finding the answer has been rough. I knew that I needed my storage to be AHCI, but I didn’t know quite how to get there and this helps a lot. Thanks for this comment!!

Also if you have an NVME drive, you don't need to worry about putting it in AHCI mode as this applies to SATA drives only.

It doesn't work for me. I do have Microsoft folder copied to the /boot/efi/EFI folder . It just starts with pop os directly. I also went to bios and moved the 'windows boot manager' (There were 2) up and lowered pop os but that opens just windows.
EDIT: Found the solution. Keep pressing T to increase the boot manager time. Perhaps it was too fast for me to notice previously. Also...my one has two POP_OS....one says something like current.kern and other one says old.kern. I did have pop os before but deleted that installed a new one due to space reasons.

Is it a good idea to dual boot pop os 22.04 LTS and windows 11 without adding the windows boot menu to system d boot?
I asked this question because each of the time during an update (especially firmware update, bios update) the system needs to restart, and during the restart the system goes into bootloader ,and most of the time the update remains incomplete. So by not adding the windows boot entry on system d boot, anytime i restart from pop os i land up in pop os , and restart from windows lands in windows and the update will be completed. The only con is that i will need to press the F12 keyto go to temporary boot each time i switch on the laptop, or it will boot according to priority.
Is that right, or is there any disadvantages of doing so?
    Please help

I am completely new to Linux. Hopefully you might be able to answer my question if you dont mind
At the beginning of your video you are talking about systemd-boot, but as far as I know PopOS 22.04 is coming with Grub or I am mistaken? At least I found this information on several sites.
But the main question or problem is that I am owning 2 PCIE SSDs, on the first W10 is installed and I would like to install Pop OS from USB-stick on the second SSD, completely independent from W10. Is it possible during Pop OS installation to choose on which SSD the installation and more important the Bootloader is installed to? If not would it help to unplug the windows ssd temporarily for the Pop OS installation and plug it in afterwards?
Last question, when using W10 or W11 I need secure boot, so do I have to reactivate it everytime I want to boot into Windows instead of Pop OS?
    Thank you very much :)

    • @kskroyaltech
      @kskroyaltech  Рік тому +1

      1) First Off, POP OS uses System D Bootloader. You can install grub after the installation.
      2) POP OS doesn't not support *secure boot*, you must disable it. Otherwise rely on Ubuntu and Fedora.
      3) Yes you can easily use Second PCIE based SSD to install pop os (Standalone ). the procedure is same creating bootable USB and All. But, During the installation, you will see an option called *ERASE DISK or CLEAN Install* select that and choose your secondary SSD. Don't worry it doesn't harm your windows 11 or 10 on first SSD.

okay buddy, I'm facing two problems first one popos is automatically selected as secondary os, so it doesn't boot into popos instead it boots into windows (so i used boot key to enter into pop os). Second one is big one, When I try to go into bios it shows black screen with one underscore.
    any help will be great.

How will be performance of pop OS if I install it on HDD? (for basic tasks, mostly heavy internet browsing and watching movies)

Not BAD. Use preload tool to speed up launching of apps.
      sudo apt install preload
