Jimmy Beaumont was one of the greatest singers ever. This song is one of the most beautiful ever. Listening to this 60 years, still love it. THIS I SWEAR, is simply really nice. Another beautiful Doowop song is There's a Moon out Tonight by the Capris. Best success on yr channel!
@@miss4330 the entire group and their manager wrote this song together. It still gets played in 2023 from it's debut in 1958!! The song is 65 years old!!
From the Summer, of 1959, I was 12 y/o, heading to 13, & to 8th grade. The group is from Pittsburgh, PA. The song was recorded in NYC, with Lenny Martin's orchestra, including 10 strings, 23 pieces, in all. ------17 y/o Jimmy Beaumont on lead, with 16 y/o Janet Vogel, on that soaring soprano ending, hitting that high "C" . -------------------MJL, 75 y/o
those String Arrangements are awesome on this Classic. Music Arrangers have always been the most overlooked and underpaid in the history of the Music Business. Shoutout to the Music Arranger who wrote those beautiful String Arrangements.
Michael is correct. I grew up in Pittsburgh as well.. I was 13 and still feel the thrill of slow dancing with a special girl to this music. Later on i became casual friends with the lead singer, Jimmy Beaumont. His voice was shear velvet . Jimmy passed away a few years ago, but his voice remained strong until the end. Janet Vogel sang the high notes at the end. Sadly she passed on many years ago. Thank you so much for keeping this fabulous music alive, and for your reaction. May i suggest "This I Swear" and "It Happened one day" by the Skyliners. You will love the music!
One of those songs great from start to finish. Jimmy Beaumont was one of the greatest singers ever. Janet Vogel great voice joined him toward the end. One of the greatest doowop songs ever. THIS I SWEAR by them is equally as good. Worth checking out.
Beautiful song, sadly it gets played at funerals for my generation. I’m glad that Michael finds it awesome because it’s a great ballad worthy of his appreciation.
I enjoyed your first reaction to this beautiful song. 😂 That rhythm and beat you're talking about is called Doo-Wop. It's the sound of the 50s and 60s. An era long gone. Sadly, they don't make em like that anymore. 🫤
SIR---------SPRING OF '59, I WAS 12 Y/O, IN 7TH GRADE. THIS CLASSIC IS A SLOW DANCE SONG OF MY GENERATION. 17 Y/O JIMMY BEAUMONT, WITH JANET VOGEL HITTING THAT HIGH ' C" AT THE END . ALL 5 MEMBERS WERE FROM PITTSBURGH PA. --------RIP TO ALL 5 MEMBERS.
Also the first white act (singer or group) to have no.1 song on the R & B charts. Jackie Wilson went backstage at the Apollo to say hello to them, and started laughing when he saw them, and said "Oh, your on the other team". The crowd was hushed and murmuring when they came out on stage, but gave them a rousing standing ovation when they finished this song.
This song is about as classy as it gets. All those other covers done by other artists, including the one by Guns 'N Roses, cannot do the original any justice.
I will not listen to any one trying to remake this song, the Skyliners did it perfect when they stepped into the recording studio and the tape started rolling!!, back then it was just one big room with maybe a few sound dividers, otherwise the orchestra and singers were all together, most likely completed the recording in one take!!!
They were fantastic and no one make's great music like this anymore I would suggest that you play the song and then make your comments because once the song starts you stop it and comment and stop it again and comment. RIP Jimmy Beaumont

Thanks for sharing. Jimmy really wrote a classic. Even Johnny Mathis joined the long diverse list of people who remade this song.
'This I Swear' really sends me!

@GM8101PHX yes I'm aware:) the skyliners are my parents' generation.

What ever happened to dancing. We all danced back then and thought nothing of it. Heck, that's what music was made for!
They didnt Sample anything back then !!! It was just Pure TALENT !!!
This song was released when I was two years old, I still love it here in September 2023!! I am 66 years old now!

Lady doesn't Much Credit!!! Her Voice is just as amazing too!!;)
Unfortunately Janet Vogel suffered from depression and took her own life in the early 80's.
That was the great Jimmy Beaumont and all of his 17 years ol,d, self. Had another lovely song called I swear.
It is called This I Swear! anther super good song by the Skyliners!

Jimmy Beaumont was the lead singer he passed away in the early 2000s
Glad you enjoyed it
The lead singer is the young man to the upper right of the photo directly above the young girl.
Yes, and lead singer is the late Jimmy Beaumont.
Yep, Jimmy Beaumont.
There’s no other song that me cry ❤❤❤❤❤
It’s such a beautiful song 😌😌
It's strange that Jimmy Beaumont didn't have a more prolific career with a voice like that
They were one of the first White Band to Sing at Apollo in Harlem

Did you say background "noise"?
It’s one of my favorites….being from Pittsburgh may make me a bit biased 😘

Check out just about anything by The Platters. Tony Williams voice is even better.
Slow dance!!!!!
Stop talking through the song . You're killing the vibe.
