I hope this can be a success story. I have never been to Detroit but I have always had a love for the automobile and historical architecture. Detroit just needs to reinvent itself. The infrastructure is already there it just needs people to share the vision.
Last year October ( 2014 ) there were minor construction activities ( for the press ) for a few days and now there's nothing going on there. The owner wants to live on Packard Plant since April 2014 - did he? NO !
+Benjamin Beytekin What a scam this whole rehab stunt is. The structure is a shambles with no possibility of recovery. This is such a PC stunt since I don't see any reputable building engineers speaking up and explaining why it is a lost cause. Are engineers afraid to talk against it? It seems the answer is yes.
What makes you think it's a scam? He's got a hazard abatement team in there cleaning up the property. (They started with the admin building.) Not surprisingly, it's going to take a while before he can find businesses who want to rent space in a derelict building in downtown Detroit, especially with naysayers like you kibitzing every step of the way.
That's like Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee. Very, very poor upper management decisions. No government bail out for them. I think the CEO wanted failure. I remember when they removed the machinery. I stood in awe and disgust

@D Wynn They are now starting Restoration on the Plant, 500 Million.
I'll believe it when it's done. I've heard inside source say there is gold in the ground there.
It's still abandoned, but supposed to be demolished soon -Caleb
I played football at St. Anthony of Padua in Grand Rapids, MI
Nice video.
A flop before a shovel hits the ground
I hope that they keep the place like it was in 1958
30:30 no that most certainly was not this plant. It was the Roosevelt storage warehouse next to the trainstation.
+Pranks313 I thought maybe it was the train station itself.
