  • Dr. Daphne Voineskos, psychiatrist at the Poul Hansen Family Centre for Depression in UHN's Centre for Mental Health, reviews the history, development and effectiveness of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), which involves a series of short magnetic pulses directed to the brain to stimulate nerve cells, and shares recent research. rTMS is a Health Canada approved treatment for treatment-resistant major depressive disorder. It is also being studied for use in other mental health conditions.
This presentation was part of the Poul Hansen Family Centre for Depressions Friends and Family Day 2022.
