Thanks for mentioning Union Plus! I wasn't unaware that was even a perk!
My pleasure! I was too! No joke, I’m actually super stoked on it! Check out all of the discounts available on it. Really quick and easy to set up and start using ⚡️
Hey Stephen, I’m trying to get into the apprenticeship at my local union. I wanted to say I appreciate all the videos you’ve made, they really help me. I’m hoping that one day soon I will become a sparky ⚡️
Can you make a detailed video about Veteran's Electrical Entry Program (VEEP)?
I’ll look into it! ⚡️
seconded
@@myheart2joy588 I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks for the suggestion guys!
had an interview at amtrak today i think railroad unions do also, but looking at electrician companies in the albany area in case i dont get hired , got all my tools on standby, 27 wish i had my license at 16 or i would have joined the trades when i graduated
Union plus doesn’t work with the carpenters union
Hi, love your videos man thanks for all you do for those aspiring to become electricians. I recently received an interview rank of 5 is that something I should be worried about? If so how would I do better !
I am going to graduate from high school next year and I want to be an electrician at IBEW, what can I do to prepare, do I need to take more advanced math courses or is there a way to study electricity at 17 years old?
Right on! Good for you for looking into getting into this trade so young! So many people get in later and wish they got in sooner.
Here’s a video I made that’s pretty much an answer to your question:

It’s an older video so the quality isn’t as great. Hopefully it’s still helpful!
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Thank you :)
Great Video, thanks for the heads up!
Thanks!! I appreciate you watching! ⚡️
Purpose built 10%
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! ⚡️
Hey, just had a question, i passed the aptitude test as well as i scored an 83% on my interview which gave me a rank of 38. The thing is the ranking was given around the end of November, was just wondering how long is the wait for a call back from the apprenticeship program?
what was your score on the test? I got mine scheduled for march 18th
Any tool discounts ???
Red wing 10 percent
I just found your channel and really enjoy your videos ⚡️
Right on man! Happy to hear it! ⚡️
@@MadElectrician I’d like your opinion tho: I’m currently driving a truck for a job, and want to get into becoming an electrician. I know becoming a handler is a good entry point but I have benefits to go to school, also knowing that it doesn’t beat hands on.
If school is a given option, would it be a safer bet into the trade? I just want to be able to go in without too much risk of not having a job. Trucking is good for the money but not much else. And I would hate to end up digging myself into debt not having an reliable source of income.
I’m in it for the “long haul” as a career ⚡️
IBEW 569. We don't have any discounts. I talk to a rep from a store and ask that unions must register with them in order to apply. Do you know anything about that?
Local 481
So you got 2 pairs of pants and a candy bar? Lol
Bingo 😂
Nah, I actually got a great deal. 2 pair of work pants and 4 nice work shirts ⚡️
Please I have one question..Can Control and Line Voltage Wires Be Run in the Same Conduit?
No
Hello Stephen sir
Thank you
My pleasure! Thanks for watching! ⚡️
I’m curious as to whether or not I should stay in low voltage or go be an inside wireman. I’m already in the Union but getting in as a wireman is pretty competitive
I joined 481 almost a year ago as an inside wireman. I know depending on where you are they are hiring a TON of people right now. Wages for the first year just increased to $19.85 hr. I really love my job and we’re on track to making $50 hr once I complete my apprenticeship. With the way the world is going I know I’m gonna need it. Hope you’re doing well brother. It’s not difficult work, and it might be boring coming from telecom, but it’s certainly worth a shot
I know this is a year later but.. you know you. But I'm a person that believes in why not try. Usually it's easier than what we think. But ask about parts you're worried about.
In Ontario Canada, Mr. safety shoe has union discounts🇨🇦
Right on!! Thank you for sharing!! ⚡️
Plus our $200 boot allowance goes through them now in Local 353.
You can get a bigger discount if you buy your danners at coastal
That’s a good tip!
Sometimes our local union hands out 40% off coupons to Danner so I actually usually use those! They regularly pass them out to us since our union hall is literally right down the street from their factory store ⚡️
@Mad Electrician oh yeah! Your not beating that one!
Just to share, at Local 11 when you apply and get accepted you can apply for some free hand tools and a 60 dollar gift card for Red Wing which is about 2 miles from the hall/school. This is some great info.
