I was sick as a dog in February; pnemonia like symptoms, thought I was going to die. I high dosed vitamin C 5,000 mg powder form every two hours till bowel intolerance. The next day I was hiking in the hills with my dog, the day after that I went back to work, never went to hospital.

I was also extremely sick last February...... started out with a severe headache (I never get headaches) and fever, every molecule in my body ached so bad. @@krisyas3136 go for sodium ascorbate powder 2g every 2 hours until bowel tolerance means loose bowel then cut back 20% of dose and maintain (mine is max 4g daily) or you can add liposomal vitamin c which can be stored in your body to a high level.

Vitamin C as Ascorbic acid is the "purest" form vit C for oral use, but can be harsh. Sodium ascorbate (and magnesium and calcium ascorbates) are gentler on stomach But be aware Sodium ascorbate normally provides 131 mg of sodium per 1,000 mg of ascorbic acid , so 1,000 mg of sodium ascorbate contains 889 mg of ascorbic acid and 111 mg of sodium. Great way to say this. 😂😂 My husband was sick on Christmas eve. He had a sore throat and the sniffles. The body needs the vitamin C to fight the virus. The problem (kidney stones) occurs when the body does not need that much vitamin C. I personally take 8,000 mg a day and have for years. No kidney stones for me. But, I also have mold illness and my body needs the vitamin for various functions. I imagine eventually I will not need this much.

At 73 I took some vitamins C; Pepcid and other stuff. My blood is now positive for COVID19 antibodies with no symptoms. One of the few lucky seniors I guess. Anyone else out their. Just give a like if you are. Cheers

At the beginning of the pandemic, I started taking immune strengthening vitamins to help protect myself from the virus. I gave the same vitamins to my children. Like vitamin d3, and mega c.strengthening our immune system was my only defense.
Also, what were his Vit D levels at the time? This has a lot to do with living vs dying and being sick vs going into ICU. Studies available... I too am a senior citizen, USA, who is a recovered cancer oatuent, 7 years. Right from the first, I contacted an M.D. who also used alternative therapies. Vit. C, I'd always taken at least 2000 a day but during the cancer fight, we raised it to 5000 MG every day., with the other vitamins and supplements assigned. I don't know that I'd be here today without the alternative therapeutics. One great thing about vitamin c is that it can cause diarrhea if you take more than your body can use every day. That's the way you tell your proper level of vitamin C, when you reach an amount that causes diarrhea,,you back off it by one 1000 MG unit until the diarrhea quits. I use it tgatvway if a laxative is needed and I believe,,unproved, it doesn't take your other nutrients out with it use the way laxatives do. That's why those megadoses are given by IV. To prevenyba Lot of diarrhea so don't try taking large amounts by mouth lest you suffer dehydration from a self caused diarrhea. As for the type of Vit.C, I use one mixed with naturals, and I take in 3 doses at different times of the day. That is, 2 twice a day and 1 in an supper time hour. If your tolerance levels require more or less, still take at different times, not all at once which often causes diarrhea by too much C at the same time. And some people don't like taking them in evening hours claiming they keep them awake. Best of all, tho, is to find a healthcare person who knows what you should be taking by your own health status report. Having such as person be an M.D.,licensed chiropractor, or such health care person given hospital privelege in any country or state,,helps to keep the nay saying physicians off your back.

I did the same with my mother who was septic in the hospital post a stroke. Vit c is the main anti oxidant combating oxidative stress. Orally we have a challenge of bowel tolerance, so oral doses cannot be compared to IV infusions!
Vitamin C as Ascorbic acid is the "purest" form vit C for oral use, but can be harsh.
Sodium ascorbate (and magnesium and calcium ascorbates) are gentler on stomach
But
be aware Sodium ascorbate normally provides 131 mg of sodium per 1,000 mg of ascorbic acid , so
1,000 mg of sodium ascorbate contains 889 mg of ascorbic acid and 111 mg of sodium.
That means if you tolerate 10grams of vit c, as sodium ascorbate, in a day, you are taking 1.1 grams of sodium
Recommended sodium intake is 6gms a day but heart foundation even suggests 1.3 to 2.5,gms daily, and most of us take a lot more, even without supplements!
Alternative:
Mineral ascorbates such as calcium and magnesium ascorbate are without sodium and often called ‘buffered’ vitamin C.
Many people find these to be gentler forms of vitamin C that are better tolerated by the gut.
BUT It is important however to consider the accompanying dose of mineral (calcium, magnesium etc.) when taking higher levels.
Calcium ascorbate: Calcium ascorbate generally provides 90-110 mg of calcium (890-910 mg of ascorbic acid) per 1 gram (1,000 mg) of calcium ascorbate.

Certain berries have vitamin c as well. "Pure radiance" and "organic india" are two brands that source their vit. c from as such.
I too am a senior citizen, USA, who is a recovered cancer oatuent, 7 years. Right from the first, I contacted an M.D. who also used alternative therapies. Vit. C, I'd always taken at least 2000 a day but during the cancer fight, we raised it to 5000 MG every day., with the other vitamins and supplements assigned. I don't know that I'd be here today without the alternative therapeutics. One great thing about vitamin c is that it can cause diarrhea if you take more than your body can use every day. That's the way you tell your proper level of vitamin C, when you reach an amount that causes diarrhea,,you back off it by one 1000 MG unit until the diarrhea quits. I use it tgatvway if a laxative is needed and I believe,,unproved, it doesn't take your other nutrients out with it use the way laxatives do. That's why those megadoses are given by IV. To prevenyba Lot of diarrhea so don't try taking large amounts by mouth lest you suffer dehydration from a self caused diarrhea. As for the type of Vit.C, I use one mixed with naturals, and I take in 3 doses at different times of the day. That is, 2 twice a day and 1 in an supper time hour. If your tolerance levels require more or less, still take at different times, not all at once which often causes diarrhea by too much C at the same time. And some people don't like taking them in evening hours claiming they keep them awake. Best of all, tho, is to find a healthcare person who knows what you should be taking by your own health status report. Having such as person be an M.D.,licensed chiropractor, or such health care person given hospital privelege in any country or state,,helps to keep the nay saying physicians off your back.

How much was the dose? The equivalent of 4,000-5,000 oranges makes no sense. One orange is about 30mg Vit C. That would be about 150 grams.

I would like to know more about the animals - -had they stopped making their own vitamin C ?
They could not produce that much vitamin C in such a short period of time,Megadose are needed.That why Big Pharm says vitamin C does not work by giving limited small doses.
We all know Vit C is going to help the immune system
