Although he was politically active long before my time. I felt extremely sorry for him when he was showing the reporter his burnt out and destroyed house in Belfast. He seemed like a man of principle, to go against his people on issues like the hunger strike must have been difficult. However, to lecture the nationalist population for supporting men of violence, from the seat of British imperialism in Westminster, while they were getting beaten, arrested and murdered by all the various tentacles of the British state, this was a political mistake for which he did paid dearly

One hunger striker had less than nine months of his sentence left.......at the start fitts stood next to the starry plough banner .. I've not seen the end but you don't have too be mystic meg,.. Fitt trying to say he could forward his socialist ideas by becoming a member of the House of Lords made me spit out my tea. He was bought and paid for and gave up any notions of socialism long before he entered the House of Lords.
