    I bought 9 blind buys because of your videos and I'm happy with every one of them. I am 50 years old and you introduced me to the best scents for men with class. The heritage by Guerlain is so amazing. The Bogart pour homme is excellence. This Royal Mayfair is an alluring masterpiece. Thank you.

    I got so absorbed in the cocktail ingredients at the start that I almost forgot a fragrance review was coming! Great description of one of Creed's best scents. Thanks Lanier.

    This is my favorite Creed and I don't understand how this doesn't get more love in the fragcomm but no complaints - that means more Mayfair for me. Haha

    What a rousing piece of music the Downton theme is. Excellent choice for your opening Lanier. I actually went to acting classes with Rob Collier who was a regular in I think the first two seasons of DA. Did you see The Crown on Netflix? Another amazing production which explored the scandal surrounding the Duke of Windsor. Now, Creed Royal Mayfair...exquisite! I love the bold Eucalyptus opening and find it a very wearable and gentlemanly scent. How did you get on with Bois de Portugal because I'm also really enjoying that one at the moment. As ever, a wonderful review my friend.

    • @laniersmith1798
      @laniersmith1798  6 років тому +3

      Oh...you knew "Thomas Barrow" that .... scandalous footman from the Abbey? He was one of my favorite characters. What a character arc he had. Yes I am addicted to The Crown. (did you notice the letters on my wall from Buckingham Palace in the opener. Well there is a story there that I may share sometime. Let us just say for now that I do believe that I just might have made Her Majesty laugh.) Funny how the whole Nazi business with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor has not been talked about much, at least over here. It has always been the "star-crossed" love affair that has captured Americans interest. So it was great to see it dealt with in The Crown. Clair Foy...oh my word... I am now a huge fan. Oh and the Windsor accent..."One. What?, Actually"...I found myself mimicking the accent! ... I have to revisit Bois de Portugal... I simply can't recall it! so please do a review on it. I am so interested in hearing your take. I must say that my other favorite I found at Creed is Erolfa...a gorgeous Chypre. Always great to have your input Chris...thank you so much. Cheers.

    Thank you for taking me through many decades within this video. I have not tried any Creed fragrances , but this one sounds divine. I had no idea about the story behind the title of My Fair Lady. It is my favorite musical of all time. Oakwood Abbey is so loverly! Haha! Fascinating story of the royals as well. You also reminded me of the times I drank Shirley Temples when very young. Great video Lanier! Cin Cin!

      Dear Invisiblegirl we certainly have passed through a lot of history with this house as with some others I love as well, Floris, Atkinsons, Penhalligons, Guerlian, just to name a few. And discovering the history is part of my passion in this perfume adventure. Thank you for your kind comment on Oakwood Abbey. It is coming along and more furniture will be arriving this month. It should be completely decorated by summer. I should mix up a Shirley Temple some time for a review...that would be fun!

    Lanier is the James Bond of fragrance community, refined, suave handsome, intelligent, and damn has great taste in creeds , while the sheep all flock to aventus, Lanier has the elegant style with his creed , bought myself andan I love it gets crazy compliments as I 49 year old I’m past aventus and fallen out of love with green Irish tweed , so cheers again mate for your great reviews as always 👍

    I sample sprayed this at Saks today -- before watching your review -- and thought: I bet Lanier would like this fragrance. Royal Mayfair starts medicinal with a heavy eucalyptus note. About 15 minutes later it settles down into an eccentric, dignified, uplifting scent. Very much the effect of a gin and tonic. Wonderful review, Lanier. Royal Mayfair fits you like a bespoke suit from Saville Row.

    Mmm, I love the sound of the Grand Marnier, cognac and champagne recipe! When you talk about Green Park I'm just thrilled as I walk around it often, as I can nip over there quickly on the tube. Then across the road to St James Park. These parks are like an aperitif, and then I double back across undulating Green Park to Hyde Park Corner and the main course, Hyde Park! Then a quick detour into Harrods to sniff and onward to Kensington Gardens. By now my legs ache as I'm a soft city boy. Hyde Park is surprisingly rugged, with many traces of when it used to be hunting grounds. Have you been?
    My grandmother worked as a maid before World War Two, and my family has a clipping of a newspaper article of the time, talking about how she'd stroll round St James Park, window shop milliners' shops, and stop off at a Lyons Tea House for refreshment. I believe she used to have a room in Chelsea (at that time a poor area, not like it is now) that neighboured the journalist which is how the article came about. My grandmother eventually married the chauffeur, but after the war, as it very common, he never returned to his first family, my grand mother, mother and uncle, but started a second family, none of whom I've ever met.
    Talking about history, there's an interesting discussion to be found on the web called 'Where are all the vintage Creed bottles?' which gives me much food for thought.

      Ray your story enthralled me. I love that part of London. Saint James Park in particular. When I was there I stayed in a flat in Kensington on Wetherby Place at the foot of Rosary Gardens. It was lovely. One of my greatest and fondest memories of London was going to see the play of "Peter Pan" in a huge tent in Kensington Gardens. How utterly magical that was. I had no idea just how much I would fall in love with London until I got there. I love your story about your Grandmother. You should write a book or a play about her. Thank you so much for taking me back to London for a fleeting moment to fly over it in the moonlight just like Peter Pan. Cheers.

    when it comes to Creed, a lot of people focus too much about describing the individual notes or ingredients used, in the hope of sounding more intelligent. Creed perfumes cannot be described as such, because they are all about creating and experience through use of notes, in a sense, the whole is greater than sum of its parts. To make it easier for your consumption, Royal Mayfair is supposed to smell like lilac bush, in the morning after the rain....get the point? So enough about individual notes, even though its a wonderfull male Jasmin fragrance, so rare in perfumery.....

    Is it me or, is there a Jasmine note in this fragrance? could be just me. I'm also not a Creed fanboy and just don't get the whole Aventus hysteria, this fragrance however? just stunning. You should also try Millesime 1849 by Creed, another stunner and so elegant...just beautiful.

    • @laniersmith1798
      @laniersmith1798  6 років тому

      I can't for the life of my Dylan find a jasmine note! LOL. But each fragrance reacts slightly differently on each person. So maybe your chemistry helps the France to enter a jasmine accord. I have smelled Millesime 1849 and it is lovely, but Royal Mayfair wins the race at Ascot every time for me. Cheers!

    I appreciate you addressing the Duke of Windsor's Nazi sympathies. I find a lot of discussions about him address the other controversies, yet glaze over that one. I agree with you that we're lucky he gave up the throne.

      Oh that is a very hard and good question Fafonmek. I would suggest soft and ethereal fragrances that have a lot of citrus and some florals and sandalwood in them. Go to Fragrantica and check out perfumes and colognes with those notes. Here is the link: www.fragrantica.com/#_=_

    Great review. But all that history creed has created is hokey. There is not a single bottle or even a photo of any creed creations prior to late 1970s. While there is plenty of evidence of Chanel or guerlain going back to 1920-30. The fragrance museum in grasse which has bottles going back to the reign of louis xiii, doesn't have a single creed bottle. But I gotta give it to creed, they can spin quite a yarn.

      Lanier Smith don't take me wrong. They make some quality scents. And RM is right there with the best of them. But their marketing is just pure shysterism

    This fragrance has Australian eucalyptus, I am pretty sure Austria has never been part of the Commonwealth countries.

    Pure opulence & class, it is not for the youngster looking to smash. Man this is for the settled and established individuals looking for same. Ideal for going to the formal dinner and the occasional outing at Union League downtown. Just give yourself at 45mins after applying.

    King Edward VIII was gay, the controversy with the duchess was concocted. Even the wedding was a camouflage for the real issue. The dutchess was all to happy to comply as she was already Edward’s beard and enjoyed the circle that he kept. The situation would have been dealt with very differently today
