Thanks for this info. I didn't use your method because mine was just dirty. Wet a paper towel used the handle of a spoon to spin it and bam every try now it works
Figures they would put a foil sensor in there so everyone must bow and pay $ to Keurig just for the luxury of using their machine. I bought those purple reusable k-cups from walmart and it says right on the package "Works with Keurig 2.0" which is what i have. One out of 15 tries worked. I took one of my kiddos hot cocoa kcups and sliced off the top and put it over the sensor like you showed and now it works every time. Thank you for saving me a lot of headache :)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I had no idea where the reader was and was having issues with the certified Keurig refillable not reading. I cleaned the LED and it works fine now!
good video! i wish these companies wouldn't do stupid things like this. thanks to youtube :) there is always a way around these stupid things that companies do. great job!
All I do is press down on the cup using my hands so that it pierces the cup (which is what closing the handle down does which essentially bypasses the pressure sensor, then close the handle and brew.
ua-cam.com/video/QXypyQxa-v0/v-deo.html Watch this video. THis video will show you how to bypass the optical sensor to use any k cup but it will also show you how to bypass the device that reads the big pods. THis will also unlock the full menu options so you can brew any size cup from 2 oz up to 14 oz mugs. It has a carafe option that lets you pick how many cups to brew in the carafe and you will not get the error message. I did this to mine and it works just fine.
Actually, on newer machines you can just put a 1/8th inch x 3/4 inch machine screw into the hole on the right side of the sliding mechanism and lock the sliding mechanism into place, this takes you to the main user menu where you can use any pod or oz beverage setting.
better way, remove the top cover (unscrew two screws on the inside holding the face plate) locate the green wire in the other wires and snip it. screw back the plate and vioala! no cutting a pasting, no tape, it's just fixed! i was skeptical too but i don't typically drink coffee so i decided i would try it for myself. here's a link to a video i just watched of a guy explaining it way better whilst doing it! ua-cam.com/video/ud7hA5eCY1M/v-deo.html all credit to this man!
You’re the 🐐
Thank you so much. This hack of only took 5 minutes. Now the wife is happy, one step closer to getting my Harley.

Great video. But in case others are wondering. I rubbed my finger on the sensor he mentioned and it worked right away. It was just dirty.

I have the same problem, now I know what to do. Thanks
Thanks man, I didnt know there was a sensor on top, so I clean it off, with some wet tips and it started to read my refillable cups again.
Same here... mine had fine layer of grinds messing up the reading device. Cleaned with Q-tip and alcohol to reactivate
Omg! This is helpful. I cut the scanner part and stick in the top of the reusable cup
Awesome...thanks for showing us this work around.
Worked wonderfully. Thank you.
