Re 59 vs accurate, when I am activating, I want to know where my signal is going and I want others to know as well. So I give accurate reports because I want accurate reports. No, it isn't scientific at all but it gives people a good idea of where their signal is getting to.
Came here to post this...
Great tips!
I disagree about the "always 5/9" bit (a la contests). I think it always helps the guy at the other end to know how well he's making it in to you regardless of whether or not it's a logging parameter.
That is a sweet go-box Izzo!!!! Lots to tips in this video. The outtakes were great.....
Like the bloopers at the end! Love to see experienced Hams sharing processes... helps us newbies out! Cheers! ~73
This is a great video. Shows the nuts and bolts of logging using a prerecorded CQ to make entry’s. Thanks Don.
The out takes were hysterical! You should incorporate those into all the endings!!! Hahahaha!
Hilarious, Reminds me of the Hal Needham films - Cannonball Run being my favourite.
Great Video! You guys make quite the pair! I love the ending.. Looking forward to more....
Awesome time you guys had. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Billy!
Loved the bloopers at the end! lol
love your outtakes :-)
I've used a computer to log when doing POTA in the past, but have switched to pen and paper. I don't have to worry about missing cables, computer issues, battery going dead, etc. It goes into Ham Radio Deluxe Log when I get home. Great Video!
Glad you liked it!
awesome video! thanks for sharing

Nice catch, Rob! LOL These POTA videos from you and K8MRD are my favorites. Looking forward to eventually doing some activations of my own. 73 DE W1NLJ
Glad you like it Norm!
Good for you using paper - it works! AF5U so do Anderson Power Poles
“Everyone is a 59”. “Kilo 4 Whiskey Papa, good morning sir, you’re 58”. 😉
Nice catch on the camera!
Great
This is one of the best POTA videos I have seen yet. Great job!
Don is the POTA master
Great channel 👍🏻
Thanks!
Hey guys. you doing a fine fine job there. I am sorry for not being part of POTA due to the high humidity and cold weather here in Germany I prefer to talk from the warm Shack due to the Winter Season. But springbreak will be soon...time will fly and then I participate from outside in the Fields. I wish you guys a merry x-mas & a happy new year. Stay safe & 73's de Uncle Günter DK5ONV
I look forward to hearing you on the air! 73!
I learned so much. 73 de KO4NDV . . . new ham this week. Also, it looks like "MOTA" is already in use for Mines on the Air according to google. Do we steal it or come up with something else? Need to get my motorcycle wired as nicely as yours.
Congrats and welcome to the hobby! I've been using the term moto-pota for motorcycle pota activations
put springs on the cable BEFORE the connectors!!
WHat was the antenna mast?
That is an eagle one antenna system
What is the case that holds the radio??
It's a 4u gator box
Hi Don
73, Douglas WA1SFH
I've known Donny for 35+ years. Haven't seen him in years.
lol, he still likes to talk. :)
Don's a great guy! It was fun doing a video with him.
Any chance W1FYG would share his Pota information sheet
He probably would ... Send him an email, he's good on QRZ
🤜🏻👍🤛🏻♡♡♡
And, that case! and that radio! and and... man! I'm sort of gear jealous...
The end piece was funny! Haha :)
What is the point of this? Bringing a huge setup to a park to activate a POTA? I thought the point was for it to actually be mobile. From the shack to the back of a truck I wouldn't classify as mobile. Might as well just stay home and activate lol.
POTA can be anything you want it to be. I think most people approach it like they would field day and set up a relatively robust station. But I've seen people do flea power QRP CW to full-blown QRO setups in a camper at a campground. There is no wrong way to do POTA.
@@SevenFortyOne fair point. I use a QRP XIEGU and take it back country camping for POTA/SOTA
You guys carry a lot of baggage with you.... IT looks like you are moving your home.
Thnx for the inspiration Don. 73. N1XXU
Great video! de W2CSI
