In Sweden we commonly use linseed oil for protecting wood. It has the benefit of preventing molds and fungi. As a result of it being common in Sweden, linseed oil can be found super cheap at your local IKEA! Now that I think of it, I think it is common in paint and art supply stores all over as well...

@@0ooTheMAXXoo0 Yeah. It's used in the UK to look after wooden handle tools and famously for cricket bats. As you say it's important create a water barrier and prevent mold / fungus. I have not seen it recommended for birch bark bows, but could be used too or at least worth experimenting with.
A quick Google showed this advice for use on a birch bark handle knife. "The most common advice is to use boiled linseed oil (NOT "linseed oil compound")."

Pretty looking bow! Is the limb tapered?

@@solhoibaturu There is slight tapering but not a lot. Not as much as Cheonji.

@@bildogaggins8196 No. The jumpi was already on the bow. I was planning on doing a jumpi wrap video, but not needed now.

@@bildogaggins8196 It actually fits quite nicely. Its bigger than the Majesty. I'll use this as a model when I cut the SMG and CJG down.

      B-e-a-utiful!
I enlarged my Monarq handle, adding a small tapered bump in the front similar to turkish style bows I have seen. Very similar shape to this, I see. I love it so much more. Adding a point of reference and grip control.
Thank you for sharing. This is a much needed video. Just, gorgeous!
I'm so happy for you, getting your new bow!!!

Sesame oil can work instead of camelia oil. We were watching a Korean cooking show and the judge mentioned it.

@@gozer87 Thanks for the tip. I've not heard that one before.
I've heard mention that Japanese Sword oil is also good, but afaik it's a mineral oil.
Linseed might also work, but I'll use what's worked for me.
      Thank you again 😁

What! What would make you want to put olive oil on a bow? Tung oil. Put olive oil on your salad. You do know that olive oil goes rancid? Foolish thing to do.

It's a tried and tested, readily available solution that works.
      It's recommended by Korean bowyers.
The oil is absorbed by the micro porous structures in the birch bark. It doesn't smell and prolongs the like of the birch bark.
I'm sharing the advice I have found online, and showing how I do it myself. I am not putting a gun to anyone's head.
Do you open research and take care of your bow however you want.

Olive oil can also be used to take care of wood.

Another pinion doesn’t make it the right choice. Wood is wood. Sounds nice is so natural but it is not a good choice like a tung oil or a waterlox .tung oil is also natural but don’t put it on your face.

@jimbrunett5025 So how do you look after the birch bark on your Korean bow? Do you use tung oil?
