    Nice ideas. I love it when people are like "You're charging $55 for something that only cost you $13? Well, hang on, pardnah. That's the material cost. That shop cost money. The utility company thinks real highly of the electricity that it takes to run everything like those power tools. Speaking of power tools, some of those cost a buttload. Your time is worth something too. Anybody thinks they can do it themselves cheaper is welcome to use my shop and tools......for a $60 rental fee.

    I work with rum and whiskey barrels and have to burn my staves at times after sanding try to hit the wood with some 220 grit or even lightly with a nylon wheel on your duhwalt drill. It will knock down the darkness and bring the grains back out making it look more rustic also keeping the char out of the spray and your hands/project

    A few comments and observations:
    First off - Love your videos. My wife turned me on to them and I really enjoy them.
    I've been a professional furniture maker and crafter for the past 40 years, and professional pen turner for 30 years. What the customer doesn't realize is the initial setup costs for a GOOD woodworking shop. Granted I've been doing this for a long time, but good quality tools mean good quality results, as well as lower operating costs. And, good quality tools COST money. i.e. my table saw is a Grizzly 1023RLWX with a 5hp motor (~$3000), and I've probably plowed around $50k into other tools over the years. Long way of saying that the rule of thumb for pricing a craftshow product is take the cost of materials and multiply by 3. (With the current rate of inflation, you may have to boost it to 4x)
    On the dog bowl holder, use a 5 degree bevel on the jig saw for cutting the holes, and a 1/4" round over bit on the hard edges of the wood for a more finished look. (Just my take)
    Good job on your projects, and I'm going to adapt some of them to my 3D printer.

    I was a painter for 37 years and I've finished entire bldgs with a million dollar lacquer finish. I just can't get past that wood burning thing. Albeit yours looks fantastic i still wouldn't do it. I've found a stain, 2 coats of Sanding sealer, 2 coats of finish in satin comes out looking like a hand rubbed finish. I got awards 3 years in a row at the home show. I'm retired now and that dog bowl looks like the $#!+. I think I'll build a few too put in my show "damascus dan's fata morgana." I've had a plastic one for my Great Danes but that's gonna change.

    Have you ever used sidewalk chalk for coloring wood? I have, just take a piece (what ever color you like, my favorite is the green) lay on its side and drag across the surface to leave traces of color and then spray a clear coat let dry and when dry you can layer another color as many as you like just clear coat each one as you go, I did this when I made our dog bowl holder

    Deep Chested breeds with a pronounced difference between the chest and belly, like German Shepherds, benefit massively from raised feeders. It greatly reduces the risk of stomach-torsion. A very painful and deadly condition. If you're (very) lucky, detect it quickly and get to a vet in minutes, your furry friend may survive their 1st run-in with it; but, not the 2nd. It claimed our friend's Czech Wolf Dog last year. We mentioned raised feeding for years; but, they'd always fed at floor level and underestimated the risk. :(

      @ Joey ! lol 😂 I’m talking about the part where i Said duhwalt , you said I sounded like a chipmunk , that part was slowed down. The only part I should’ve sounded like a chipmunk is where I gave the hole numbers for the speaker on phone holder

      @@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks Ah! I see the confusion in this conversation. LoL! I was talking about the DeWalt drill itself beginning at the 13:38 time stamp. If you click on the time you'll understand. Where you're screwing in the pocket screws, it sounds like a chipmunk.

      Brother , ask yourself these questions here … what are you doing to sell them ?? Are you adding your own touch to them ?? Are you just posting and wishing yourself luck , it’s not that the items aren’t selling , it’s the fact that you aren’t selling the items . And that’s a fact (I know this from first hand experience) , how many times a day do you share your item or online shop on your social media sites ?? How many of your friends do you ask to share your items on social media ? Do you market your items ? Are you a squeeky wheel that needs greasing ??? Are you really putting in an effort to sell your items ? Are you using tags and keywords ? Are you taking the best photos and video staging your items ? Ask yourself these questions and it should all make sense .

    Be careful with elevated bowls if you have a large deep chested dog, elevated food bowls can increase the risk of bloat. And let me tell you, bloat is the worst and scariest thing ever. Our king German shepherd had gotten bloat, not from elevated food bowls, but it was a 9k surgery and they had to remove some of his organs that lost blood flow to long. He ended up passing away 6 months later from a heart attack caused from the bloat before. He was only 6 years old and man did that sudden loss break our hearts. That loss was bigger than losing a human

    • @Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks
      @Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks  19 днів тому +3

      Although rare , deep chested dogs already have a higher risk than any other dog of bloat . A dish raised more than half the dogs hieght is not the best idea as this may cause bloat , rare but yes this is true. Take caution as always , with the size of this one in the video the pup will be just fine I never build them higher than half the height of the dog 😃, , thank you for the feedback. So sorry for the loss 💔 😢 , I’ll never forget the first loss of our baby pup , it is heart shattering as a love from a dog is second to no other love. I dare even say in some cases a dogs love is more unconditional than a mothers love. ❤️

Just talking about this makes this Viking emotional and I don’t get emotional hardly ever but i still remember that day so vividly when we lost our pup , that hurt hits different , 🥺

    Two thoughts: @ 5:45 there's a shot inside the slot of the phone holder. That drill hole is kinda gnarly looking. For $20 - 30 the drill holes should be clean. And if you are going to say the wood block amplifies sound, then instead of (or in addition too) showing a humorous video of car audio vibrating a trunk, maybe show the sound difference in sound of the phone out and then in the holder.
