When I was 16 and 1966 I saw Nuriyev and Margaret Fontaine dance. What do you call flying and floating in the air and wings? It was their dancing and acting especially that was magical. Since then I’ve seen everyone Alvin Ailey, Baryshnikov, Gelsey, Kirkland. No one compares to Nuriyev and Margaret Fontaine. When I danced after that, I always do know that guy that guy was dancing on another planet from them.
I also saw them, this production, when I was 13. I have it in VHS & DVD. McMillian’s choreography is the BEST! I too have seen Baryshnikov & Kirkland. But this is the best ever. The highest standard.
I meant to say, then after that, I have other dancers are dancing on the planet first then the two of them. Margot Fonteyn and Nuriyev created a magic planet of their own.
That they loved each other outside the theatre played no small part in the beautiful performances they blended together in. Their initial meeting for work had two hugely gifted people eagerly learning from the other. Joy of joy that we can see these videos especially if we never them live on stage.
Breathtaking partnership of Fonteyn and Nureyev! Anyone who has ever experienced first love will agree how beautiful and true their dance described it! Fabulous production and music, of course!
Нежность грациозность и чуткость Фонтейн - выше техники как и великая Уланова она танцует всем своим существом как будто класс балет - самое естественное самовыражение человека! Феноменально - как и энергетика юного Руди❤
All women truly do not age similarly. Some at 50 still appear 25. It is a gift, and Margot truly made use of all of her gifts: those she was born with, and those that she developed with much painstaking care❤
This goes beyond dance. There is a sensuality between the leads. It as if they are living their roles and not just dancing them. They obviously really respected one another artistically and came alive together when dancing.
The scene of him lifting her and carrying her from the bed is astounding. The amount of strength and control that would have required on both their parts is mind-blowing. Absolute masters of their art.
Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev had the chemistry and artistry, which energies were entwined with grace, balance, lines, and dancing with ethereal bliss. The colors of emotions show deeply with each step and physicality of expressions. Destiny brought them together, and how thankful we are. Thank you for this exquisite production of "Romeo and Juliet" and the cast of marvelous ballet artists that I have not seen in completion. Bravo 👏 ❤

How did he spin so fast is a good question! Is he changing his ‘spot’ as he is moving directions so quickly? He definitely wants to make it hard for anyone else to duplicate. Dancing on his toes made him go faster and also was dangerous to risk.
