      thank you🌹...
      As an American, I am utilizing a high form of respect with the term "Miss".
      Additionally, as a devout Catholic, I am often remembering her even now in devotions through which she probably gains more honor in Heaven (Holy Mass and daily prayer)- than anything else that I could offer on her behalf.

    In this performance, I believe Nureyev was 24; Fonteyn was 43.
    The artistry is incomparable. Today we have more exotic fouettes, higher extensions, longer holds, mesmerizing turns, and flamboyant deviations from standard choreography; but few companies/dancers seek the artistry and expression of this era.
    07:30 - 09:04 !

    • @sedekiman824
      @sedekiman824 3 місяці тому

      So very true. Fouettes performed with multiple turns, extensions suitable for the gymnasium, but hard, cold, and no soul performers. Here is love, warmth, a performance, genius, the one complimenting the other. A factor very rare today. So many just want to see the fireworks, but that is not all there is to ballet. I so enjoyed..."deviations from standard choreography!"

    Back here again. I love everything about this performance. The understatement, but so technically correct, the lack of pretension, the beautiful line of each, how they mirror their port de bras, head movements. The lovely use of hands by Fonteyn. How one is drawn into the performance, and feels part of the tragedy. Glorious.

    Technique may have surpassed these 2 icons, but their artistry is still one to still be observed as this is the saddest goodbye of all Giselle ballets I have seen. As Giselle's spirit fades in the daylight he holds her and carries her away from her grave. Then, a one last effort to feel at least her hand...knowing that this is it....they must part.

    Thank you for this ! I just finished watching them in full-length Romeo and Juliet...their ARTISTRY and on-stage presence... not about the virtuosity/ technique 'only' but...a Poetry, ballet that exudes Love and Grace. Thank you!

    Нуреев живёт этими чувствами, мало того,он заставляет чувствовать то же самое и зрителя. Прослезилась.

    Ottimi AMBEDUE nel mantenere il filo della narratio emotiva sentimentale fino al tragico sdilinquimento finale intensamente commediale. Ottime le positure figurali e la sensazione di continuum narrativo nelle sequenze successive dei passi del balletto. BRAVISSIMI.BIGHIN GIULIO RENZO

    Interesting comments... I just complimented Allessandro (and Baryshnikov) on her Great extensions while in Arabesque... You are right, Fonteyn and Nuryev aren't into great Gymnastics fears, yet true artistic expression, and yes, to someone else, Nuryev 's grief is so real and poignant... I also just love Margot's an Rudolf 's costumes, especially Fonteyn's; the various lengths of tulle, combined with the sparkles(sequins) are great, and I also like the bodice!!

    What is so glorious about this performance is the simplicity of her art that captures. The refining of complex movement into just telling a story.
