- The quality and types of paper plays a key role in Chinese painting. For traditional freestyle Chinese painting, I use half-ripe rice paper.
In this video, I have bought some mounted half-ripe card for test and demonstrate what it looks like compared with painting on a piece of regular rice paper that I always use.
Materials:
Rice paper (half-ripe) 夾宣
Ink 月宮殿
Yellow color 藤黃
Orange color 珠膘
Red color 大紅
Blue color 花青

Hi Kate, just discover your channel. Love it. I think the mounted card is useful for portrait or western watercolor style. The rice paper that you used in the video, is it a Red Star?
Yes, it’s red star
Very nice Kate. Where do you order your paper and colors?
Good morning; thank you very much for your video; may I request that you please post link for beginner students to learn the basics such as exercises for strokes and other techniques; thank you very much; have a wonderful day.
Please go back to view my first few videos which were created for beginners. Believe it or not, my first painting lesson was the orchid! I did find it difficult even though I started practicing calligraphy since I was very little. I will describe a bit more in my future videos. Please stay tune.
@@KateWuArt Thank you so much for your reply; I will do that. With just a few strokes; your painting comes alive.
