Maybe in the beginning. But, what gave Spartacus an edge, initially, was that the Romans didn't take him seriously. The first few Roman "armies" sent against him were inexperienced and ill equipped, more like police forces. After, Spartacus' army were done in by their own deluded lust. Slavery almost ALWAYS has been a tool of corrupt elites or governments. It's what you implement and practice whenever you don't want to give free men and women a fair pay (and instead keep the profit all for your own wealth and greed).
@@thunderbird1921 everyone in developed counties is basically still enslaved, just not to this degree. you are still forced to work all day for the profit of somebody else. you get better payment, but you are still creating the value other people sell. its combined with a forced consumption mentality to make u work for somebody else to sustain your “quality of life“ for a comparably small payment, only to give most of your payment back to them by paying rent and buying consumption items you dont actually need.
people should really understand what slavery actually is. It implies another person owns you, can sell you and controls your entire life, including your personal time which you would not have any. While we can talk about labor rights, equating that to slavery does disservice to your arguments because it is laughably out of touch. And living with my mom at the age of 35. Yes... All did look bleak as hell. But then I remembered! Spartacus! He wouldn't give up in this final hour. The hour when I needed to triumph more than ever! So went back to school. Asked for the test back. Took up my mighty pen and ruler. And proceeded to never. Give. Up. I spent 15 grueling minutes finishing that math test. And I knew Spartacus was looking down on me... Pleased with my ferverlous attitude. And that ladies and gentlemen. Is how I know Spartacus is my spirit being. The tenacity to never give up. Even in the face of almost certain defeat with a 20 minute math test. But I prevailed. And I stand before you today not as a man who lives with his mother. No. But as a man who lives with his dad instead. Thank you Spartacus.

very true. The estate system of the Romans became the feudal serfdom. The lords nobles, kings and queens had lineage from mainly roman elders, the church in the east and west also had roman heirarchy. the arabs conquered former roman areas only to advance many things such as better treatment of slaves. However I cannot see a roman wanting to flog their slaves as a healthy slave meant more productivity.

Maybe in the beginning. But, what gave Spartacus an edge, initially, was that the Romans didn't take him seriously. The first few Roman "armies" sent against him were inexperienced and ill equipped, more like police forces. After, Spartacus' army were done in by their own deluded lust. They had made it to the Alps and could have left Italy, but chose to turn back, thinking they could defeat a real Roman army.

Its kinda sad that even for 2 thousand years later slavery or other called it “force labor” is still going is some countries...even the rich ones

Spartacus is definitely my spirit being. How do I know this you ask? Well! It was many moons ago. When I was still just a wee lad. Attending high-school. I failed my math test on a crisp spring morning. At first I thought all was lost. That I would grow up to be a peasant... Losing call of duty matches every single day.

Slaves did not make the pyramids. It was men with experience.

You totally forgot both extremes: One are well educated slaves which functioned as teachers and the other ones were forced sex-slaves, which could be used by the public for a very little amount.
To the Romans credit they actually passed a law if you forced a woman slave to be a prostitute she would be freed.
I knew it was fishy when they opened with "slaves could buy their freedom!" Lol, only if you were a man over 30. Women who were slaves couldn't buy their own freedom. The only written account of the lives of slave women are almost entirely written by their masters. Women citizens barely had any independence, can't imagine how horrible it was for slave women and children.
