Finland’s representative in Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen in the live UMK final on 25 February at 9:00 PM EET. The show can be watched live worldwide at Yle Areena streaming service with English commentary available, as well as broadcast on Yle TV1, YleX , Yle Radio Suomi and Yle X3M.

@@mikrokupu It's so inspiring to see a country with, let's face it, not a good track record in Eurovision suddenly turn things around, especially when you look at how poor UMK's lineup was back in 2017 and how they chose to internally select in 2018 and 19 (which delivered a second-last place finish in the final and a last place finish in the semi). I'm Irish and personally, I don't think it's unrealistic to think that Ireland can have that same kind of turnaround very soon, too. Maybe it has already started when you consider that this year's line-up is so much stronger than last year's line-up.
I agree UMK is one of the best selections but let's not forget also the Estonian selection (eesti laul) which for me goes beyond the melodiefestivalen more and more but still Norway with Melodie grand prix and of course San Remo on another register but it's true Sweden is losing speed let's wait to see what they will offer this year 🤣

I wish they would be better at supporting new unknown young artists (I also feel like Ireland needs to get new staff working at the delegation because it appears that they think if they have the same people they had in the 90's they'll be able to win three times in a row again, but times have changed completely since then)
@@iris8760 I honestly didn't love any of the songs this year. A couple of them were nice but had some things that were kind of offputting for me, whereas last year there were two songs I immediately loved, one of them of course being Brooke's. In my personal opinion this year has gone down

In recent years Cicciolina began a path, what Ram Pam Pam continued and what this year seems to follow more than one, and yes... Overall, in the last ten years Finnish language has become more common among Finnish artists. There was a point where everyone wanted to sing in English and Finnish was not used very much so as a Finnish speaker I like how it is going now. I feel like artists here can express themselves better when they sing in Finnish. English lyrics can be a bit generic if a non-native speaker wrote them.
FInnish is like the German upgrade to Anglo-saxon ENglish, in the same relation to FInnish and Estonia. Estonian is the more mellow musical sounding one.

@@6891x it's been two years since Umk is that strong and Finland qualified both times without struggles. In it's current state Finland is a eurovision powerhouse, it really wasn't last decade, but I feel like they're eventually gonna win in next years
@@6891x We may have a different perception of powerhouse. Qualifying doesn't mean everything to me. There is political voting, some songs are just too good for Eurovision, some artists have big fanbases so some other artists won't win, etc... Finland just delivers top-notch productions, that's what matters more to me. Even many songs that won't get through to Eurovision have a higher standard than many Eurovision entries from other countries.

Ivana i meni se ova pesma jako dopada,zarazna je i ne izlazi mi iz glave,neuporedivo bolja stvar mi je ova nego ta toliko i nerealno favorizovana "CHA CHA CHA" ne znam cemu to,kada bi garant na evrovziji bila flop,dok ova pesma zvuci kao neki veliki stari svetski hit iz osamdesetih,taj vajb mi ima i nadam se čvrsto da neće onog boksera bezveznog i tralala dečiju pesmicu da pošalju pored ovako dobre pesme!
Bukvalno nema mozda previse veze ali ova pesma me vuče na Bili Ajdola,a recimo vuče i na taj vajb i period osamdesetih fazon Sindi Loper recimo taj neki chilli cool fazon neki dobar ritam,melanholična je pesma i melodična..

Milloinkohan pääsemme irti tästä käsittämättömästä alemmudentunnosta. Suomenkielinen kappale voi aivan hyvin menestyä Euroviisuissa, jos ette ole huomanneet, jokainen kappale tulee tekstitettynä ja pääsääntöisesti äänestäjät osaavat lukea. Suomen kieli tuo myös monella tapaa paremmin esiin eurooppalaisuuttamme ja erottuu joukosta toisin kuin englanti.
Biisejä ei muistaakseni valtaosassa maita tekstitetä, olikohan jopa niin, että vain Suomessa ja Virossa tehdään näin 🤔 Mutta samaa mieltä siitä, että suomen kieltä olisi mukavaa kuulla viisuissa pitkän tauon jälkeen 👍🏼

Vastahan Euroviisut voitettiin ukrainan kielellä. Portugalilla ja serbiallakin on pärjätty mainiosti ja liettuan kielellä tultiin jopa 14:ksi viime vuonna.

I think it just took some time for UMK to start working as a concept, our national selection was called ”Eurovision selection” until I believe 2013. When they introduced UMK it was a little strange at first and only attracted mainly smaller artists but now it’s really starting to work and Eurovision growing more popular in recent years also helps
