@@guillemmartinez9958 I liked brooke aswell🥲 but what annoys the most is that Ireland seems to have a pattern of every representative being an ex-talent show contestant or a popstar that's at the end of their career. I wish they would be better at supporting new unknown young artists (I also feel like Ireland needs to get new staff working at the delegation because it appears that they think if they have the same people they had in the 90's they'll be able to win three times in a row again, but times have changed completely since then)
@@iris8760 I honestly didn't love any of the songs this year. A couple of them were nice but had some things that were kind of offputting for me, whereas last year there were two songs I immediately loved, one of them of course being Brooke's. In my personal opinion this year has gone down

The UMK organization just said how things have changed in recent years, they found the right concept and suddenly all music makers in Finland want to be in.
@@mikrokupu It's so inspiring to see a country with, let's face it, not a good track record in Eurovision suddenly turn things around, especially when you look at how poor UMK's lineup was back in 2017 and how they chose to internally select in 2018 and 19 (which delivered a second-last place finish in the final and a last place finish in the semi). I'm Irish and personally, I don't think it's unrealistic to think that Ireland can have that same kind of turnaround very soon, too. Maybe it has already started when you consider that this year's line-up is so much stronger than last year's line-up.
I agree UMK is one of the best selections but let's not forget also the Estonian selection (eesti laul) which for me goes beyond the melodiefestivalen more and more but still Norway with Melodie grand prix and of course San Remo on another register but it's true Sweden is losing speed let's wait to see what they will offer this year 🤣

Overall, in the last ten years Finnish language has become more common among Finnish artists. There was a point where everyone wanted to sing in English and Finnish was not used very much so as a Finnish speaker I like how it is going now. I feel like artists here can express themselves better when they sing in Finnish. English lyrics can be a bit generic if a non-native speaker wrote them.
FInnish is like the German upgrade to Anglo-saxon ENglish, in the same relation to FInnish and Estonia. Estonian is the more mellow musical sounding one.
The song is super addictive! If the live performance is as good, this would be perfect for eurovision. And it’s in finnish, that’s a big plus it makes the song stand out more!

I think it just took some time for UMK to start working as a concept, our national selection was called ”Eurovision selection” until I believe 2013. When they introduced UMK it was a little strange at first and only attracted mainly smaller artists but now it’s really starting to work and Eurovision growing more popular in recent years also helps

Last year Bess got robbed because of some Finnish people's sad thinking, but I'll personally request finns to vote the good song either it's in Finnish or English, and not majorly for artist, like in Robin's case, his song is good but not as good as some others, this choice of his it's not perfect imo

I love this song it's reminiscent of the 1980s with rhythm it makes you want to listen to it several times and it gives you the joy of living in the morning.It's my favorite with cha cha.. Very clearly the UMK selection is strong but this is the one I prefer this year. Eurovision 2023 should not be bad a lot of competition this year. In any case congratulations for this selection and for having also selected only songs in Finnish we must be proud of our language it is what makes the values of our different cultures across Europe and it is at the start goal of eurovision. @@6891x it's been two years since Umk is that strong and Finland qualified both times without struggles. In it's current state Finland is a eurovision powerhouse, it really wasn't last decade, but I feel like they're eventually gonna win in next years
@@6891x We may have a different perception of powerhouse. Qualifying doesn't mean everything to me. There is political voting, some songs are just too good for Eurovision, some artists have big fanbases so some other artists won't win, etc... Finland just delivers top-notch productions, that's what matters more to me. Even many songs that won't get through to Eurovision have a higher standard than many Eurovision entries from other countries.

I think it just took some time for UMK to start working as a concept, our national selection was called ”Eurovision selection” until I believe 2013. When they introduced UMK it was a little strange at first and only attracted mainly smaller artists but now it’s really starting to work and Eurovision growing more popular in recent years also helps
@@esterelina UMK is really setting the standard in so many ways. I hope more countries will follow this path, delivering diverse, modern, well-produced, high-quality songs like Finland. Everything looks so sleek and thought-through.

Last year Bess got robbed because of some Finnish people's sad thinking, but I'll personally request finns to vote the good song either it's in Finnish or English, and not majorly for artist, like in Robin's case, his song is good but not as good as some others, this choice of his it's not perfect imo

Very clearly the UMK selection is strong but this is the one I prefer this year. Eurovision 2023 should not be bad a lot of competition this year. In any case congratulations for this selection and for having also selected only songs in Finnish we must be proud of our language it is what makes the values of our different cultures across Europe and it is at the start goal of eurovision. @@6891x it's been two years since Umk is that strong and Finland qualified both times without struggles. In it's current state Finland is a eurovision powerhouse, it really wasn't last decade, but I feel like they're eventually gonna win in next years
@@6891x We may have a different perception of powerhouse. Qualifying doesn't mean everything to me. There is political voting, some songs are just too good for Eurovision, some artists have big fanbases so some other artists won't win, etc... Finland just delivers top-notch productions, that's what matters more to me. Even many songs that won't get through to Eurovision have a higher standard than many Eurovision entries from other countries.
