- UCSC Genome Browser Tutorial
Video 2
A discussion of tracks in the genome browser, the building blocks of the graphical user interface. Here I discuss:
--how to add and remove tracks
--biological insights offered by tracks
you are a great human being, you are very informative and clear in your explanations, all respect and admiration to you, keep on keeping on!
Wow that's very nice of you Mohammad! Please let me know if you have any questions :)
Fantastic explanation. the UCSC guys should add your videos as little guides.
Thanks JZoidberg!
can you please explain how to find the canonical transcript?
That would be really great help
Good tutorial .i want to know the variance in the given sample in genome browser?
Hi Mirza, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm not sure I understand your question. To find the variants within a gene of interest, you can scroll down to the Variation section and activate one of the many SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) tracks. I hope this helps!
Great tutorial! What is your background in? I'm studying this for engineering!
That's awesome, Colin! I'm started off with a biochemistry background, and now I study single-cell genomics.
Thank you. This really helped me!
That's great to hear! Let me know if you have any questions
How can I go back to my main tracks? Now I moved everything and I have no idea of hpw to get back to where I started
Good question. My guess is that you want to hit the "default tracks button" below the main genome window :)
What a gem !
Thanks for the great tutorials!
You're welcome, Marcos. Happy genome browsing!
how did you highlight and zoom in gene?
Great question Yue! When you highlight a region of a gene, a box might pop up instead of automatically zooming. If you check "Don't show this dialog again and always zoom" and click "Zoom In," you can enable automatic zooming as shown in the video.
Please let me know if you have more questions!
is there a file explaining all the tracks
+hussainzakir1 Great question, Hussain. Every track name in the menu is hyperlinked to a page that describes it. These descriptions can be pretty helpful!
vielen dank
Very helpful!
That's great to hear, Ashley! Best of luck in your research.
