My mother got a 2014 Dodge 2500, and it's the biggest piece of crap I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Proud that I'm getting my own Chevy 2500 6.6L in a couple weeks :)
It can't get 30 mpg. Period. Even if you ripped off all the emissions and went easy only then you will maybe get 23-25. That being said this is my second DMAX and mine is a 2015. I get 20-22 consistently unloaded on the free way. My average city to highway is 17. Towing horses, my camper or a larger gooseneck flat bed I see 12-14.
Matthew, regarding wooded trails, the Silverado HD as driven will have no problem. However the ride harshness off-road is going to be rough if you spend more than a few hours out in the bush. IHTHs?
Chandler, anecdotal from a friend of mine that used to own a Silverado HD. RAM and F-Series - Remember the early 6.0L? - where behind the curve over the years. IHTHs?
i want this truck... but it costs more than both my vehicles and Harley combined! If i were to buy this truck, it would have to be my last truck ever and last the rest of my life!
I am going to chime in on this as said in previous post duramax and allison since 2000's has been the most reliable powertrain motor combination Dodges suck transmission is shit falls apart and interior is garbage and falls apart even motor has had major issues Ford the new 6.7 is ok but Ford has put out to many bad motors lately so dependability is still in question and honestly torque shift tranny is ok but still not as solid as a allison 7 3 PS was the best but tranny unless it was a built tranny took a dump at 90k So I have worked a lot and owning a construction company as a GC we only use duramax because they have proven to hold up
Chandler, Andrew, and TheOfficialPcGamer, please pull back your bias' already! Jesus H Christ, the Silverado HD, Ford Super Duty and RAM 3/4 and 1-Tons will all take you hundreds of thousands of miles with a whole lot less work/trouble then their predecessors. We have all heard of horror stories from each Mfr. and they are mostly in the past. If you want to see my latest review - Non-UA-cam, it is the second story down on the home page right now. cleanmpg.com/community/index.php?threads/53538
TheOfficialPcGamer lol 3 words. Square wheel wells. Soooo ugly. If i had 20 fords in a row that broke down constantly i still would only buy a ford based on the fact that chevy and ram are so ugly. What model/year ford did you have that was so bad?
Nice video, but why the sad music playing in the backround?

Hi C Nevs:
It just missed 30 at 28.6 mpg. Not as efficient as the RAM 2500/3500 or Power Stroke in the 3/4 ton but very close.
I never realized an HD truck can get 30 or more mpg? makes me want one over a half ton if that big of a difference is possible.

+C Nevs I've done a little better but my towing efficiency is about the same as yours with roughly 6,000# 21' long 10w x 10h face trailer.
nice truck thank God I got one of those
You picked up a good one.
+CleanMPG How do you like it so far? Does it have decent ground clearance?
+maldrifterxxx - THis was a press loan. It had plenty of ground clearance for truck work but mudding or something more severe you will need it lifted.
your right. if you bought a ford you will be Found On Road Dead
