Same. I just read this series for the 4th time--8 years later. Very cringe but I am still in love. I think I'm in love with the chaos of it all. There is a plot twist every couple of pages it seems and it makes me want to read more and more.
no seriously! i just finished rereading it this week, and it’s so terrible but i still absolutely love it! it’s like a guilty pleasure like having a cringe movie you secretly love and watch alone 😂
This Hush Hush Series was my very first introduction to the book world at 13, so i have a very soft spot for all of this books and obviously after re-reading just recently i was a little bit sad that the hype that i had wasn't there now but i'll always gave this soft spot for this series and now that you, one of my favorite booktubers, are reading and reacting gave me so much happiness
As someone who just read the books, I was also lost in this video at times. I swear the books aren't this confusing--some major details were missed! I enjoyed watching how someone else digested this series but I wouldn't rely on this video when making the decision of whether or not to give it a read. I think it deserves a lot more credit than it gets. Yes, it's cheesy and could benefit from more detail of the Nephiligm/Archangels but it's a good read with many twists and turns that make you want to keep on reading. 😊
I'd say you were lost because she just skipped over things... Most of the plot points. Like I'm unsure how she got to the epilogue without knowing that Vee was Nephilim? Was she actually reading this book or just skimming 😅 Why was she so confused the whole time 😂 the plot may be stupid but it really wasnt that confusing (I say this but I havent reread these books since I was a teen...though I don't remember being confused at all the first time I read them)
My memory of this book is that one of my colleagues on school was mispronouncing nephilim and I gently corrected her and she was kinda sad that the reason that I knew about fallen angels was because I had read the Bible not this book 😅
My brother bought this book for a school book report. He's never been much of a reader so I think he got it in the hope that my sister and I would read it instead. It worked, we explained it all to him well enough to get an A 😂
This might be obscure because it's by a German author, but I reeeeally wanna see you read through the Ruby Red series! It's about time travel and a secret society and romance and family drama and I was obsessed with it as a teen!! Please read it (don't worry it was translated into English lol)
@@que9089I keep re-reading it too 😂 towards the ending it gets incredibly wacky but I just love that Gwen is unapologetically acting like a teenager throughout the entire story. All the drama and heart break and weird priorities!! 😂😂❤️ Also middle school me had the *biggest* crush on Gideon 🤫

I remember thinking this series was so scandalous in middle school and--SPOILER ALERT--Nora and Patch are never described as doing much more than kissing lol. My 24 year old self was quite disappointed re-reading these 😂 very PG 13
I LOVED these books. I’ve been chasing the feeling these books gave me for 10 years 😂😂😂 I have yet to find a book with the vibes that these books gave me in high school. Made me want to move to Maine and live in the beautifully eerie setting that is hush, hush. I don’t care that it’s cringe, even as a 27 year old lmao
I'm 27 and used to love these. After not being able to read for years, I read them again in 2020 and honestly still enjoyed them 😂 They got me reading again so I'm super happy with that!

Well this is what I found: “As of February 2022, Paramount+ has confirmed that the movie is on the way. Nickelodeon and Awesomeness partnered with BCDF Pictures and Entertainment 360 to produce the film.” With production apparently already started in 2021? … so maybe in the next few months / years? But you never know with these productions. It basically can fall through at any stage for the weirdest reasons, so there’s a possibility, but not a guarantee. ☺️
I am 30 minutes into the video, and I am so confused but your voice is so nice and the way you narrate things reminds me of the way I tell stories to my friends and how they tell stories to me so... yeah, keep talking miss girl. i am enjoying it
My parents used to duo read this series and have conversations about them whenever my father caught up 😂 My childhood was honestly filled with them hyping up this genre of books (bc they also duo read the Twilight series) while my 8 year old self was sitting there watching cartoons. My mother, to this day, is upset that the Hush Hush movie never came to be
omg i remember getting the first book out from my school library when I was 12 and being SO upset at having to wait for the next one to be returned but then I just never went back to it. One of my friends was obsessed with the series but I honestly don't remember a single thing except something about a school project? I think? the covers do make me laugh now tho
It's really funny to be chilling and then suddenly hear you cringe at something dumb that a character said or thought, it feels like sitting with a friend. This is a comfort channel for sure.
This was a series that, whenever I found it in the wild I thought "fallen angels, nice!" but there was just something that never clicked with me. Glad to have have heeded my instincts and never read it.
I remember 14 year old me feeling SO BETRAYED because my high school librarian recommended this series to me. I barely scraped through the first book and seethed about how it was literally just an even worse Twilight rewrite 😂
This couldn’t have come at a better time. Silly one hour, fifteen minutes, and forty seven seconds ago me was considering reading these books to see if it is as bad as I thought they would be. But YOU saved me time and sanity. I now realize it’s not worth it, even for the bit. Thank you!
Me making this series my whole personality when I was younger 😂 I was obsessed with fallen angel book series after reading Hush Hush. Low-key wanna see you read the Halo Trilogy by Alexandra Adornetto now 🙈
@ana7177 I feel like I ended up liking it better than Hush Hush but then again I haven't read it since I was in my early 20's. I would totally have to revisit it to see how it held up 🙈
I saw “Finale” in my school library laughed sooooooo hard at the inside description (it was a hardcover book). Showed it to my friend, “You should read this.” He gave it back to me in a hurry, like he already knew what it was
Time for a confession. These books are my guilty pleasure… actually not so guilty lol I LOVE this series and I think I always will no matter how cringe parts of it are 🫣. I devoured them in high school and have re read them time and time again, I just love them 😭😭😭
My level of happiness is through the roof, this series honestly got me into the weird fantasy stuff I'm into now lmao Edit: The idea of Jules being Jughead is so funny omg
I read these books as a young teen, and even then was like "what is even happening?" And ended up never finishing the series. It was really funny to see that it wasn't just me, and that these books were really just all over the place. There was another fallen angel series, Tormented, that I started reading at the same time that had very similar problems. Anyway, congratulations on 300,00! I really enjoy these 'So You Don't Have To' videos and can't wait to see the rest of the Shadow Hunters stuff. I would also like to recommend you check out the 'House of Night' book series for your videos, it has an interesting take on vampires and goes 'creative' places with the story.
Loved these when i was in middle and high school, though i remember feeling confused throughout the series at times. I just thought maybe i read too fast but now that i heard the plot recapped i understand that it was just seriously convoluted 😂
I blew through the first book in high school, started the 2nd and Patch pulled that BS of leaving suddenly and I was still pissed off from New Moon so I dropped the whole series right there. Now I’m glad I didn’t bother to read the rest 😂 Personally, I would adore it if you did one of these videos on the Fallen series by Lauren Kate (just the four main series books - Fallen, Torment, Passion, and Rapture- the extras aren’t necessary). I ADORED those books in high school and I reread them in my twenties a couple times.
The way I fell all over myself for Patch in these books in middleschool and now i cant get through 10 pages without cringing. Same goes for the Twilight series. My 14 year old self was a different breed, I dont know her 😂
Every time I read 2000s-2010 YA all I can think is either "What high school/college did these authors go to???" Like what highschooler is going to cigar lounges and staying in seedy motels. I cannot fathom how these people write this and never have a second thought.
I remember picking up this book when I was like 15 or something bc the cover looked so cool. I bought it at a book fair, for which I used to save money every year, and I regretted buying it lol. I hated the protagonist so much! The worst of it all is that Nora thought that she was "not like other girls" but to 15 yo me she was?? Like I remember thinking that she was some sort of "popular girl", so to me she was a hypocrite. Also as you said, every character is just plain awful. Thankfully I borrowed this book to a friend and never saw it again, so it's no longer on my bookshelf lmao
Cari, you should try reading The Mediator by Meg Cabot. It was my favourite paranormal series growing up and even today it is a great teenage book. The main character is a girl whose job is suppose to help ghosts cross over to heaven, so she has to help them solve whatever is keeping them here on earth.
YA tv shows, movies, and books really had me in a chokehold 😭💀. Like whyyyy 🤣 I forgot these books were supposed to be a movie! I was waiting as a teen for it to happen but forgot about the series.
OMG this is the kind of video I love watching from Cari and UA-cam waited until NOW to tell me of its existence. Hush Hush is peak snack book:not really good for you,you know you shouldnt have it,but you had a good time
Not me thinking that the books she's reviewing are from the fallen series by Lauren Kate which is also about angsty teenage angels and special female mc (I've watched only the 2016 movie) 😭😭 I was confused for 45 min straight about why the plot is not what I remember from the movie ...
Forever grateful that I discovered Agatha Christie murder mysteries when I was 11 years old and just became a murder mystery fan instead of discovering YA in the early 2000s.
@@Shapizable fair enough :D I don't mean to imply I didn't read weird stuff as a preteen, it was just the subgenre of mystery where cats (and other animals) help humans solve mysteries, with or without the humans noticing. I was very happy at the time to discover there were multiple series with that premise and I followed them intensely.
There's a book i was obsessed with when i was a teen. I forget the name but it's about a girl who falls inlove with death who's also a rockstar. The there's a demon guy who won her soul from a voodoo queen from New Orleans (his father done a deal or something like that). It was a hot mess but I'd like to read it again to see if i still love it like i used to as a 14 year old
Objectively, my Patch girlies and me knew he was trouble, the red flags were there (although we didn't called them that *back in my day*) but omg it was fun to have a baddy book boyfriend to obsess over with your friends 😂🖤
I don't care if now I see them as cringy, I love them, I will always defend them no matter what, I build a connection with the saga, I read them when I didn't know ebooks existed and didn't have money to buy something better. I waited for the movie to announce, I have them in my bookshelf with pride. I see all the cringe, is just like twilight, I know it is bad, but one can just not help to watch it over n over again.
Kind of late but, after I watched your mortal instruments series, I needed to know if you did hush hush! And here I am watching it 😂😂 My middle school me is so happy you're talking about all these books I read. It's making me nostalgic lol
I have literally never heard of this series despite being 11-15 when this series was coming out… but when Cari comes out with a 1+ hour summary video? Gotta watch it.
This is one of the first series I've ever read. As a teen, I was absolutely obsessed with it (and Patch), OBSESSED 😂 But years later, although I'm still fond of it, I see how unhinged and dramatic (and problematic) it really is. That's why, earlier this year, I sold my copies and let someone else enjoy them. Because I don't see myself rereading it, like ever, simply because I'm way too adult for that now 😂 (And if you enjoy it as an adult, good for you! It's just not sth that I see myself coming back to ever again, my TBR is way too long for that 😂).

I remember my teacher recommending this book to me for my grade 8 book report. I actually cried reading it because I didn’t know how on earth i would write an analysis on it😭
The media was weight focused because the 90s were weight focused so we were raised by moms who were always on weight watchers and all the other diets😅 (the women who wrote 90% of these books)
Having no context for any of this is hysterical. The “It’s just a lot of angels hanging out in shady pool halls” really got me for some reason
Oh the horrific yet hilarious mess that this series is. I commend Cari for her suffering for the benefit of our giggles and entertainment 🙌
almost didnt make it out of Silence alive hahaha
@@caricanread your sacrifice will not be forgotten 🙇🏻♀️🫡
She is our hero. I love enjoy books I'll never read through her. Thank you, @caricanread.
More than an hour of unhinged review? YASS I live for longform cari content 😌✨
❤❤❤
I will die defending this book. It was my comfort series when I was a sad teenager and I will always love it no matter how dumb I realise it is as an adult 😂😂😂😭😭
Go on buddy, we all have our guilty pleasures or books we are fond of even though they aren't that good. Mine is Eragon 😂
Same. I just read this series for the 4th time--8 years later. Very cringe but I am still in love. I think I'm in love with the chaos of it all. There is a plot twist every couple of pages it seems and it makes me want to read more and more.
Sameeeee
no seriously! i just finished rereading it this week, and it’s so terrible but i still absolutely love it! it’s like a guilty pleasure like having a cringe movie you secretly love and watch alone 😂
Me too, I just reread it after almost 10 years and I cringe at so many lines and the story loses me at Nora leading a army
❤❤❤❤❤
Loving the casual fat phobia, such 2000s core
Literally I was lost so much during the video. I screened at one point “WHOS RIXON” This was a rollercoaster and I loved it. Thanks for the ride
OMG I loved that series growing up! 😆
@@Hola_Mochi me too haha
I read that series so many times growing up, still read it sometimes for the nostalgia haha
OMG i used to love that series❤
@@que9089I keep re-reading it too 😂 towards the ending it gets incredibly wacky but I just love that Gwen is unapologetically acting like a teenager throughout the entire story. All the drama and heart break and weird priorities!! 😂😂❤️
Also middle school me had the *biggest* crush on Gideon 🤫
omg i remember reading this series in middle school! being in college and watching this makes my younger self so happy
these books were my personality in middle school. i fucking wrote patch fanfic for creative writing hw😭 but i FORGOT about them until i started reading crescent city and when the whole angel-archangel stuff started i was like "OH SHIT NOT AGAIN"
I literally completely forgot I read and loved these books when I was a teen until I saw the thumbnail and so many memories just appeared in my brain
I have vague memories of reading the first book, looking forward to watching this and finding out what they were actually about... 😅
me and every series i've ever read hahahha
these books are rated 18+ but i initially discovered them in my middle school library 💀✨
(i can't wait to relive super angel gatorade)
They’re actually rated 14+ on the jacket sleeve but even that’s a stretch. A 12 or 13 year old could read them and it would be fine.
@@andiman44 damn guess I was just really illiterate and thought I was cool
After not being able to read for years, I read them again in 2020 and honestly still enjoyed them 😂 They got me reading again so I'm super happy with that!
this was my FAVOURITE series when I was way too young to read it I literally had patch on a baby name list for years bc of it wow I'm beyond excited for your recap omg
OMG WHAT
omg i loved these books when i was in high school 😭😭 im pretty sure patch was the first ~book boy who left me giggling and kicking my feet (now look at me, 13 years later doing the exact same with jacks lmao)
omg not patch and jacks in the same sentence hahahhaa
this is such a fever dream. this series was the first YA series I was introduced to and I remember being totally obsessed with the romance but now with cari explaining the plot i do not understand how any of that made sense to me as a teenager...? like girl u need to have a lot more common sense than that lol
"i'm all legs......like a barstool" absolutely SENT MEEE LOL
Well this is what I found:
“As of February 2022, Paramount+ has confirmed that the movie is on the way. Nickelodeon and Awesomeness partnered with BCDF Pictures and Entertainment 360 to produce the film.”
With production apparently already started in 2021?
… so maybe in the next few months / years?
But you never know with these productions. It basically can fall through at any stage for the weirdest reasons, so there’s a possibility, but not a guarantee. ☺️
The IMDB page says it's set to be released in August of this year but idk how trustworthy that is
not the protagonist comparing herself to a barstool 😭😭
Lmao every time Cari does the deep voice thing it sounds like Lance from Portlandia and it just SENDS me
I am 30 minutes into the video, and I am so confused but your voice is so nice and the way you narrate things reminds me of the way I tell stories to my friends and how they tell stories to me so... yeah, keep talking miss girl. i am enjoying it
I completely forgot this series existed. And all my memories of it don’t track. Like I don’t remember most of it
My parents used to duo read this series and have conversations about them whenever my father caught up 😂 My childhood was honestly filled with them hyping up this genre of books (bc they also duo read the Twilight series) while my 8 year old self was sitting there watching cartoons. My mother, to this day, is upset that the Hush Hush movie never came to be
This is so cute 🥺
Actually as of 2022, Paramount+ had said the movie is going to be released
omg i remember getting the first book out from my school library when I was 12 and being SO upset at having to wait for the next one to be returned but then I just never went back to it. One of my friends was obsessed with the series but I honestly don't remember a single thing except something about a school project? I think? the covers do make me laugh now tho
this is my favorite series to re-read because of the ridiculosity and the nostalgia, glad i've found the world of people who feel the same!
I'm so glad my early adolecense was taken over by the hunger games and the maze runner instead of books like this
It's really funny to be chilling and then suddenly hear you cringe at something dumb that a character said or thought, it feels like sitting with a friend.
Freshman me loved the books solely for the murder mystery plot but then totally never finished the series after the murder plot was resolved lol
Ngl this series is my "so bad it's good" pleasure read. It was so ridiculous, I had a great time.
This couldn’t have come at a better time. Silly one hour, fifteen minutes, and forty seven seconds ago me was considering reading these books to see if it is as bad as I thought they would be. But YOU saved me time and sanity. I now realize it’s not worth it, even for the bit. Thank you!
there’s absolutely nothing i enjoy more than watching 1 plus hours of you reading book series, always entertaining
I bought silencio at the time not knowing it was a series so I had huge fun having amnesia with the main character AHAH
Me making this series my whole personality when I was younger 😂 I was obsessed with fallen angel book series after reading Hush Hush. Low-key wanna see you read the Halo Trilogy by Alexandra Adornetto now 🙈
got to look that up hahahaha
@@caricanread Do it do it! 😆
Omg I was obsessed with that series, I was planning to read it again but I know it will be bad the second time lol
@ana7177 I feel like I ended up liking it better than Hush Hush but then again I haven't read it since I was in my early 20's. I would totally have to revisit it to see how it held up 🙈
@@caricanreadangels on motorbikes that take FMC to Hell!
This series is my teenagehood, I loved it to the moon and back. But looking back now: yeah, it's a guilty pleasure >
I love there were two unhinged fallen angel series around the same time. I was a Fallen girlie and that series was even more insane than this lol.
I was obsessed with Fallen, it was so ridiculous 😂
I saw “Finale” in my school library laughed sooooooo hard at the inside description (it was a hardcover book). Showed it to my friend, “You should read this.” He gave it back to me in a hurry, like he already knew what it was
Time for a confession. These books are my guilty pleasure… actually not so guilty lol I LOVE this series and I think I always will no matter how cringe parts of it are 🫣. I devoured them in high school and have re read them time and time again, I just love them 😭😭😭
dude SAME...I know how bad they are but the obsession is way too deep at this point...
@@marissas2251 the way I could pinpoint any part of the book series from quotes from how often I’ve read them, like yes wayyyyyy too deep Lmao

My level of happiness is through the roof, this series honestly got me into the weird fantasy stuff I'm into now lmao
Edit: The idea of Jules being Jughead is so funny omg
10:32 We already have wizards with orbs for eyes LOL
These books were my literal obsession at 15! Please don't ruin those memories! 😂
Now I’m glad I didn’t bother to read the rest 😂
Personally, I would adore it if you did one of these videos on the Fallen series by Lauren Kate (just the four main series books - Fallen, Torment, Passion, and Rapture- the extras aren’t necessary). I ADORED those books in high school and I reread them in my twenties a couple times.
The way I fell all over myself for Patch in these books in middleschool and now i cant get through 10 pages without cringing. Same goes for the Twilight series. My 14 year old self was a different breed, I dont know her 😂
Literally same 💀💀 Younger me was on a different planet, I stggg
This book had me in a chokehold.
I'm 30mins in, and I only now realize that Hush Hush is not part of the Fallen series 😅 2009 fallen angel books were a fever dream
YA tv shows, movies, and books really had me in a chokehold 😭💀. Like whyyyy 🤣
I forgot these books were supposed to be a movie! I was waiting as a teen for it to happen but forgot about the series.
OMG this is the kind of video I love watching from Cari and UA-cam waited until NOW to tell me of its existence.
Hush Hush is peak snack book:not really good for you,you know you shouldnt have it,but you had a good time
this series got me into reading and to this day i have a soft spot for it even if is kinda of trash so I'M SO SCARED TO WATCH THIS LMAO 😭
it was ok trash! hahahhhaa
this was my reaction when carie mentioned the book in the last video because same
Not me thinking that the books she's reviewing are from the fallen series by Lauren Kate which is also about angsty teenage angels and special female mc (I've watched only the 2016 movie) 😭😭 I was confused for 45 min straight about why the plot is not what I remember from the movie ...
Forever grateful that I discovered Agatha Christie murder mysteries when I was 11 years old and just became a murder mystery fan instead of discovering YA in the early 2000s.
im jealous lmaooo
I wouldn’t change a thing tbh
@@Shapizable fair enough :D I don't mean to imply I didn't read weird stuff as a preteen, it was just the subgenre of mystery where cats (and other animals) help humans solve mysteries, with or without the humans noticing. I was very happy at the time to discover there were multiple series with that premise and I followed them intensely.
There's a book i was obsessed with when i was a teen. I forget the name but it's about a girl who falls inlove with death who's also a rockstar. The there's a demon guy who won her soul from a voodoo queen from New Orleans (his father done a deal or something like that). It was a hot mess but I'd like to read it again to see if i still love it like i used to as a 14 year old
YOU GOTTA READ THE LUX SERIES NEXT!!! It’s about aliens 👽 and it would be SO GOOD for this series
I see all the cringe, is just like twilight, I know it is bad, but one can just not help to watch it over n over again.
i can’t believe you read my teenage self’s favorite book series 😭 one day if you read captive prince by c.s. pacat i might truly pass away
Kind of late but, after I watched your mortal instruments series, I needed to know if you did hush hush! And here I am watching it 😂😂
My middle school me is so happy you're talking about all these books I read. It's making me nostalgic lol
I grew up in a conspiracy house and the pronunciation of nephilim SENT ME. Love you 💕
I have literally never heard of this series despite being 11-15 when this series was coming out… but when Cari comes out with a 1+ hour summary video?
