That part at 8:46 where, after that gorgeous, building, epic solo, after that entire anthemic masterpiece of a song, Mark gets ready to back out to showcase that so-pretty-you-could-cry piano, and just toggles 2 notes back and forth a couple times..... those simple notes never fail to give me goosebumps, decades after my first listen. Thank god I lived at the same time this existed.
So blessed to have seen them multiple times back in the day. I've seen a who's who of bands and artists from around 1979 on over the years in all kinds of genres and I've always said I'll put Dire Straits up against anyone. Phenomenal live band.
One concert, one take, one album. In my opinion the best live album ever recorded.

You may find it consoling to know that the reason Mark stopped playing this live was because it was his Dad’s favorite of his songs too; when his Dad passed he found it too difficult to play.

The very, very best. It has an energy and vitality that was never matched in any other live performance. The original and best!
The guitar playing is fine, but the vocals are out of tune (especially in the first two verses) and the drumming isn't a patch on Pick Withers' whose rolls sound like thunder on the studio version and on this, they just sound like drum fills.

There's a reason I keep coming back
Heal the Guard - I think I know the version you refer to, was on UA-cam but got taken down (breach of copyright or something) - had the great sax intro. Been trying to find out what tour it was so I could get the DVD just for that one track. Any pointers would be truly appreciated.
