- This is the television broadcast of Elton's 37th birthday concert in Sydney at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, which would be the sight of his legendary concert with the MSO in 1986.
Because of required commercial breaks the broadcast is lacking two small sections unfortunately due to the way it was shown live on television as it was happening. So the first bits of "Don't Let the Sun..." and "Philadelphia Freedom" are missing from the video. However, the audio exists from an alternate source, so at the very least the audio has been patched in so you can hear all of the set, and see most of it.
Elton was touring for "Too Low For Zero" at the time, and the setlist is highly reminiscent of the set we'd see at the infamous Wembley show following the release of "Breaking Hearts" later that year. The main difference is the presence of more material, this setlist has "Teacher I Need You", "Island Girl", "Crystal", "Pinball Wizard" and "Song For Guy" which would all be removed later in the year.

The best Elton live shows are in the early 80's. He's in his vocal prime here and playing a great mix of songs. Band is OG and on fire.

I'm 43 so I was too young and in his earlier years not born yet. Thanks to YT I can watch all his concerts and relive the AMAZING moments. Elton John is truly a living legend
This is how always preferred him… dressed nicely without the distracting crazy costumes. His music speaks for him loud and clear. And he sounds incredible here.
In my opinion, this is is best tour ever. He sounds great, his original band at there best.

My home town, and there is a connection with Elton and the Sydney audience that is unexplainable, Sydney adores Elton and Elton adores Sydney, I've seen him so many times in that venue it still sends chills how the audience just melt for him, imagine the hair on your neck standing on end for 2.5 hours straight, it's that energy.

I was there absolutely amazing concert I was 24 back then so long ago but I still remember it quite vividly and lived on that concert for many many month's Thankyou Sir Elton baci x
His voice was in fine form at this concert. Clear as a bell, hitting all the high notes with ease.

Anything on the Internet can be removed, blocked, or revoked in an instant, notoriously on UA-cam, Netflix, and Hulu, which removes content all the time. You realise this video is eventually going to disappear, much like the hundreds of Elton John concerts that have come and gone on UA-cam, never mind the poor quality of many and all the compression introduced. While I'd prefer a Blu-ray release over DVD, your Internet-only view of it is ludicrous and illusory. Of course we need DVDs, but mostly we need Blu-ray releases. This upload is much lower quality than the original broadcast too. A Blu-ray release would ensure the audio and video are the highest quality, and would ensure its perpetuity. Then later someone can rip the audio and video, upload it to UA-cam, then some dumbass can comment on how 'we don't need DVDs.'
I remember this night so well , after being a fan for over ten years , everyone loved him here in Australia , he also loved spending time in Australia. I think he felt safe and warm here , he also got married here . Thank you for posting this

It is a pity that Elton did not perform "Restless" this evening, I love this song, especially in a live performance! And it is VERY strange that the main song from "Breaking Hearts" was not performed - where the hell is "Sad Songs" ?!)
This was still during his “Too Low for Zero” tour. Breaking Hearts wasn’t even released yet (Sad Songs was released as a single in May).
