TRIVIUM! BEST BAND TO EXIST!, ROADRUNNER, listen up... there's talk of you guys making your bands more mainstream, making bands go the way they don't want to, not getting what they deserve, and basically making the bands end up what they originally shouldn't be, dont mess with trivium.. let them do what they want to... if they want to go heavier, then fuck yes! let them do it!, let them do what they want!, have a good day :)
Such an underrated album. Its honestly my 2nd favorite, only below Shogun. In fact, the only weak song on the album to me is And Sadness Will Sear, because it is musically boring to me. Every other song was absolutely fantastic. My personal favorites are Becoming The Dragon, To The Rats, Detonation, and Unrepentant. Its such a shame that so many people dickride Ascendancy, because they become blind to how great of albums The Crusade and Shogun are.
metalfreekz13 you're not wrong about it being a great album, technically of course 2nd to Shogun. However, Ascendancy was the really Epic and melodic album, it was the album that snapped harder than all the rest, in regards to popularity. For most of us it was our first Trivium album aside for all the lucky folks to first find them locally with the demo's or of course Ember To Inferno. It's not Dick riding.
People don’t like this album because it didn’t seem like a trivium album. It seemed like a Metallica album. It was an awesome thrash metal album that I love and so do a lot of people, but metal elitists are the absolute worst and judged the hell out of it.
The Crusade was awful. Fucking awful. It even holds the song the band (or Matt at least) thinks is the worst song ever written by them. Each to their own. Dick riding Ascendancy? Because it was the album that put them on the fucking map, literally blew the band the fuck up, they're as big as they are now because of that album, and you should respect it purely for that fact alone if you like the band, regardless if you think its overrated, which in all fairness it may be. That said, I personally find it hard to decide if i think Ascendancy or Shogun is their best album now days, I'm honestly leaning to Shogun, that album was fuckin great and i really under appreciated how good it was when it came out, i was still salty about how awful, repetitive and honestly lazy The Crusade felt as an album. It was literally "Trivium Goes 80's Metal With No Actual Creativity At All". Terrible release, if you think otherwise i personally think you're batshit crazy. But thats just me. And for anyone thinking i hate every last song on The Crusade i dont at all. But its was literal shit when you compare it to any other Trivium release.
About 14 months ago while living in Santiago, Chile, I came upon this video, it was the first song off The Crusade that I really gave a chance (I had been told about it sounding too much like Metallica). It was so epic that I actually BOUGHT IT ON ITUNES!!! I was that desperate to have this song on my iPod. I wonder when wrting the song the guys are like "and at 1:27 onward we just tear this universe a new asshole." Thats my story and I'm sticking too it, enjoy...
Its not the comparison but more the total tone, feel and possible inspiration for the way Matt sings. Metallica is a great band to look up to, and you can definitely hear the Metallica influences in some of their earlier songs.
Kinda. It’s really about Japanese myths and how koi would have to make their way up an impossible climb to transform themselves into greater beings. Where do you think they got ideas for Pokémon?!?

at first i was like fuck this record but it really did grow on me the vocals have changed dramatically since the 1st and 2nd records but they band is still rockin the same way
As far as I'll go to comparing them to Metallica, is simply proclaiming them as a modern day version. Their lyrical content, vocals, and time signatures are styled completely different with a more aggressive tone.
Idk, so far it's not working for me...maybe its the audio quality of youtube+computer speakers that's not doing it for me. 1:30 on--> the song's balls dropped. Totally changed my mind about the song. Good song, just not as good as some other stuff. I want see some Trivium that's heavy as The Ascendancy and has the balls and catchyness of Shogun. Hoping this next record's gonna be sick. I have high expectations for these guys. And one last thing... KILLER BASS SOLO.
So i guess the change would be that, corey got fat, matt got skinny, and cut his hair, travis is no longer a member, and paolo's been bald...eh...a while. coincidentally there music shifted a little, still kickass though. love TRIVEEEUUUHHHHMMMMM
@ThatMetalGurl666 It sounds like Metallica crossed with Megadeth and Iron Maiden. It's fucking epic. I'm sorry, but Matt Heafy is now forever known to me as Metal Jesus
@ILOVEREEB But comparing Matt Heafy's voice to James Hetfield's voice (circa 1986) is a fair comparison. If anything, Heafy sounds even better than James Hetfield did in his 20s.
The Crusade was Master of Puppets 0.5. Thankfully they redeemed themselves with Shogun. History does repeat, though, and In Waves was their worst release to date. Hopefully their next album will be worth listening to.
Thank you, I dont know what all these fucking people Knock the Crusade for. By far my Favourite Trivium album, But it could be because im a thrash fan.
the crusade was such a brave album to release after ascendancy. people need to start realizing this.
Watching this in 2019 feels like hearing Metallica in their 80 era.
There's a vibe of James Hatfield voice in there.
that is one hell of a band practice

+metalfreekz13 fact. The crusade is my favorite album, when they play in live Crusade it fuck rocks!
DETONATION IS THE THEIR BEST SONG!

I love how Paulo and Travis are the only ones who can properly play this song in the video cause Matt and Corey aren't using seven strings XP
this band is amazing
very nice pop-dance music :)
This used to be my least favorite album. Now this is light years ahead of Vengeance Falls or Silence in the Snow
+Joseph Schneider Vengeance falls is amazing and Silence is pretty good

@thehman59 Well, he does say "Transform from Coi into a Beast, DRAGON!" so yeah, pretty obvious :p
Um dos melhores
Its not the comparison but more the total tone, feel and possible inspiration for the way Matt sings. Metallica is a great band to look up to, and you can definitely hear the Metallica influences in some of their earlier songs.
this song is so about magikarp (coi) evolving (transform) into gyarados (dragon) :P
Kinda. It’s really about Japanese myths and how koi would have to make their way up an impossible climb to transform themselves into greater beings. Where do you think they got ideas for Pokémon?!?
i would agree with this statement, especially on their new album, however you have to admit, this song does song like metallica
kickass song and u know it

Matt in long hairs ....Creating Good number.

is it ok for me to say that Paolo is the Cliff Burton of this Generation of Metal?
corey evolved!
he now can crunch two soda cans with his teeth!
hell yeah!
how is it possible? only 100k views? this must be wrong...
Honestly I didn't even know there was a video for this song until JUST NOW. That might have something to do with it. People simply not knowing.
Bob Marley same
Bob Marley well I think my comment is a little late but they did post the same video on their channel and that one has 3.4 million so yeah
Idk, so far it's not working for me...maybe its the audio quality of youtube+computer speakers that's not doing it for me.

I'm glad Trivium's able to put this album behind them. Every band has THAT album.
3:53 wat
So i guess the change would be that, corey got fat, matt got skinny, and cut his hair, travis is no longer a member, and paolo's been bald...eh...a while. coincidentally there music shifted a little, still kickass though. love TRIVEEEUUUHHHHMMMMM
@ThatMetalGurl666 It sounds like Metallica crossed with Megadeth and Iron Maiden. It's fucking epic. I'm sorry, but Matt Heafy is now forever known to me as Metal Jesus
@andrezknz He actually just cut his hair again recently. He donated it to locks of love.
The tempo in the middle of the song is like what 230+?
should be more bass solos in metal
2:24 they are playing each others guitars ahah
4:09 PURPLE NURPLE!!!
BASS SOLO!
If you look closely, Matt Heafy is making where the video is being filmed spontaneously combust.
Anyone else notice Matt and Corey are playing 6 strings..? Haha.
@machoadan you said it
lol 4:18 matt heafy is looking at paolo goin: OH shit!
@andrezknz did you got surprised?
GOD DAT BASS! 3:49
Trivium Metallica Two different bands, two different style stfu and like them both !
When they say "worst", they don't actually mean it's bad, they mean it's just not as good as the others....At least I hope so.
@nightshadetheexorcis "Climb to the falls of Dragon Gate."
Thousand Likes !
EN QUE OTRA CANCION CANTA CON ESTE TONO DE VOZ ??
ME CAGA QUE CANTEN CON VOZ GRUESA, AKI SOLO ES UNA PARTE DE LA CANCION
@ILOVEREEB But comparing Matt Heafy's voice to James Hetfield's voice (circa 1986) is a fair comparison. If anything, Heafy sounds even better than James Hetfield did in his 20s.
@HeavyMetalBeliever i know dude. just saying. misheard lyrics are funny.
@TemeDrummer96 Well, James Hetfield also gets his 1986 chops back. Oh wait, it's Matt Heafy. Win.
@andrezknz He always sings. lol Always has.
The Crusade was Master of Puppets 0.5. Thankfully they redeemed themselves with Shogun. History does repeat, though, and In Waves was their worst release to date. Hopefully their next album will be worth listening to.
@ARMEDINFIDEL741 Actually, he looks a lot more like James Hetfield to me for some reason. He even has the same facial expressions as he sings
1:50 Oh No Tom Araya !
Plus this is better than anything Metallica has since 1991.
Becoming the Gyradose
lol what does matt say at 4:19?
DRAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss the Surf Ninja 😢
Finally, a SMART comment :)
Thank you, I dont know what all these fucking people Knock the Crusade for. By far my Favourite Trivium album, But it could be because im a thrash fan.
