- One of my older videos which I decided to re-upload on the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. The Battle for Iwo Jima was one of the bloodiest battles in Marine Corps history. The battle started on Feb. 19, 1945 and lasted until March 26, 1945. The battle claimed 26,040 U.S casualties and 17,845-18,375 Japanese casualties.

I had a World War 2 vet come through my store the other day. He was a paratrooper from the 101st. On his hat was a pin signifying he was awarded the Silver Star. When I shook his hand and thanked him for his service, he smiled up at me from his wheelchair and said, "I only did it for nice folks, like you."
Im from Puerto Rico and my grandpa fought in the western front all the way through germany, all his friends including close ones since childhood died in the war. I got the honor to meet him and he told me how war it is.

Beautiful video man. It’s so sad to see how many of these men watched friends and brothers die and when they came back they were just treated as heroes. But heroes hurt too.

Iwo Jima is the closest to a Stalingrad the US had. Rest in peace all who died as heroes, never to see home again and those who had to live on without them.
