My dad got me one in 1968. Orange fleck paint, it had a fine sparkle, and white banana seat. Problem was it was too large for me at age 6. A few really bad mishaps and it was put in the back shed. Age 9 and about 4” taller, I took it out, dusted it off and in an hour I was doing fine. I put many more miles on it after that!

At minute 12:30, there is a photograph said to be of "Cowboys in a saloon." -- IT IS NOT! Those fellows are merely "ranch hands." Photographs of REAL Cowboys are very rare! The reason why is a very interesting bit of Americana. During the Civil War, much feared Confederate guerrilla Col. "Charley" Quantrill would take his "boys" south from Missouri to much warmer Texas to avoid those COLD Missouri winters. While down in Texas Charley would have his boys endlessly practice "Horse and Revolver" games like "How Many Bullets Can You Put Into a Man's Chest Sized Target While Galloping By On a FAST Horse?" Once that game was mastered, the target would be reduced to a target the size of a man's head and the game was played until the boys could hit it every time. Then Charley put two "eyes" on the head sized target and the boys played the game until they could put a bullet between those eyes EVERY TIME! This was the famous "Right between the Eyes" Quantrill shot! From the Mexican Vaqueros Charley's boys learned rope and lasso tricks. Back in Missouri Charley's boys used those Rope and Lasso tricks to rid the world of many a Yankee Cavalry patrol by stringing themselves out and hiding on each side of a lonely trail through the forest. They would then begin lassoing the last Yankee cavalryman in the column -- effectively breaking his neck - until NONE were left! There are many a "haunted" woods in Missouri because the locals saw the Yankees ride in and NO Yankee rode out! And NOT a sound was heard! Not a body found! SPOOKY! After the war Charley's boys down in Texas noticed that there was a lot of WILD "Longhorn" cattle - owned by no one and, therefore FREE for the taking. That could be sold at the nearest railhead stock yard (Dodge City or Abilene, Kansas) for a TWENTY DOLLAR GOLD coin or about $2500.00 in today's money! So, Charley's boys rounded up hundreds of those WILD Longhorns and drove them a thousand miles through thunderstorms, rivers in flood, hostile Native Americans and anything else that got in the way, to the stockyards and SOLD them. Now flush with gold money, the locals at first tried take advantage of what looked like mere teenage boys (Jesse James was 17 and far from the youngest) with big pistols they probably did not know how to use. After a few Quantrill shots right between the eyes. The local thugs understood very quickly that a "boy" who could faster than a heartbeat, properly place a bullet in the brain of a 2,000 pound Longhorn, could also make very short work of them!
