    Hey man, great video. I have close to the same exact buckle on my board I want to fix myself. Wanting to know exactly what products I need? Was going to go with the q cell filler but don’t know what epoxy is best.

    Great job repairing that man! I don't know if you know or not but sometimes on your videos when you start speaking the sound is very quiet for like the first 30 seconds. It seems like it happens at the beginning of the video, and also sometimes after the cut from a sped up section. Maybe it's just my settings, but just thought I'd let you know. Love watching you work!!

    Hi Koby, I am in france and doing my own repair for first time , and well not easy first time also without all the tools ! I'm not sure im doing things totally right but it's not too bad eider ! I am actually wondering which product you use as a final layer ? that you sand with water paper, ,,? I am a bit lost would you mind explaining what do you apply with the brush in the end ? thank you

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  Рік тому

      The last sand is just water after finishing sanding with 240 grit, at the very end i spray matt clear coat, one it is dry it has a small texture to it so i use water paper 1000 grit with water to smooth it. Good luck 🤞

    Great video, just a question. You put the larger fiberglass first and the smaller ones after as a pyramid. Have you tried the opposite putting the smaller first and larger ones on to to cover the whole area? Any difference?

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  Місяць тому

      O do it this way because it prevents small air bubbles under the glass, by doing it my way u can use the squeeze to push all the air out with extra material , it is also easier to sand it this way

    hi, for the top coat you using any additive, when I try to sand it the sandpaper just gets sticky with epoxy in it

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  2 роки тому +1

      If the epoxy gets sticky you have an issue with the resin, should be ok without additive. Try to sand lower RPM, it will create less heat and should be ok 🤙🏼

    I have a question. I got broken surfboard that i want to fix and i would like to strngthen it as well so put more glass and epoxy. It is a PU poly board high performance so it is really light yet very fragile it seems. I see also a lot of little pressure concaves all over the deck and i figure it will be a nightmare trying to glass over that. So if i delaminate Is there a way to fill up those uneven areas some how? Do you know? Thanks!

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  2 роки тому

      If you try to fill it it will add alot of weight, you better glass over it keeping the original shape, do 3 layers of 4OZ, start with the widest one (5” min from centre) and end it with a narrow strip, 2.5” wide. All of them wrapping the rails - good luck!

  • @Cuisinenomade1
    @Cuisinenomade1 2 роки тому +1

    I have another question. How would you go about fixing a broken in half board? And how did you start shaping?

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  2 роки тому +1

      Broken board is always a challenge, questions how bad is it? If it worth saving I would go with 2 wide layers of 6 oz and final layer 4oz top. Bottom layer minimum 10” far from the break. Bottom 2 layers, 1 6oz and 4oz.
      I started shaping 7 years ago taking a short course from local shaper. 🙌🏽
