  • A colourful Mini Mal Surfboard with massive de lamination fully restored step by step including liquid polyurethane expanding foam, marine paint and fibreglass. It was a big job, but certainly worth the effort.

Right on. Right on. I dig that blue and it came out ready to shred. Good on you, teaching your son about what you love. That's a privilege

Long ago we used the "quarter" tap test to locate delaminations. Tap it with a quarter (25 cent piece US) & listen to the sound. (Any hard object will work). Yes, that was a very big job, but the board looks fantastic! Good on you saving a board that will provide a lot of fun rides for someone instead of going to the landfill!

Greg, I have used lightweight drywall mud to fill in and mold paddle boards I have shaped. It works really well is very economical.

Gotta say I was a bit skeptical when you said you were going to paint the whole board. But i am converted what a beautiful final product

Looks like you nailed it Greg. Great dedication to go back to it and fix up the mistakes. I think I would have given it a bit of extra wax to cover it up, thrown it in the car, and started surfing it.

  • @robertical

It's great that you explained the issues that you had, I learnt a lot. Also, using the foam to cover that before puttong the glass on it is something i want to try next one i do.

Foaming glue spritz with water as it dries. It won’t rise as much as two part foam

  • @briantrend7401

You must place a plastic sheet over the curing foam and spread with your hands on top to flatten out

  • @dmac5678

When I used the pour foam I mixed for 20 seconds but it didn’t pour super easily not sure why. I used 1oz mixes per part a b.

  • @itaykal

maybe you could have injected the foam through few drilled holes in the deck instead of re-fiberglasing the entire thing?...

Maybe a squeegee would have helped distributing the foam?✌️
