rather than break them in two you can crush them into powder and store them in jars, and then spoon them in. that way it can be as strong or as weak as you like and you can mix different bombs together to make cocktails easily :)
Tip: if you get a knife with ridges and move it in a cutting motion it will make the product crumble so much. Instead use a sharp cutting knife with no ridges, and use your hand to push the knife all the way through the bubble bar or bath bomb without any type of cutting motion, it goes through everytime without any type of crumbling and waste of product !
With bubble bars I always put it into a big ziplock bag and crumble it into a powder in the bag. Take out what I need and I get between 6-10 baths out of one depending on the size! I also have really good water pressure so it helps to make more bubbles.
I wouldn't recommend cutting the Twilight bath bomb in half because it has two colors. Sometimes if you cut certain ones such as pheonix rising, dragon egg maybe twilight, it will ruin the effects of the bath bomb. For the ones such as blackberry or avobath that are solid colors, I would cut them in half.
With the multi layered and the space girl I saw them with a serrated knife until I reach the middle, once I reach the middle I get out the screw driver and the hammer and give a good whack, I get them in half almost every time 😊

I would hate to cut my bath bombs in half, because if something special was inside it would ruin the surprise and I just like the full show. If there was a bath melt. I will break huge bubble bars like the Comforter but not like Milky Bath.
Try getting handmade bath bombs from etsy, or try a different brand other than lush. Lush is expensive. But if you still want the handmade fresh factor like like buy them from Etsy.

as oppose to using a long kitchen knife to cut in half or quarters from top to bottom? it worked for me

I just used a knife with golden wonder and it was perfect! The so white works good with a hammer 2
Or you could just buy a mini grater and use them on your bath bombs over your bath till u get your desired colour, much easier than this?
