  • This week a new Dimension type for Master Item Dimensions is available, Cyclic groups. You all know that Master Items offer a centralized, reusable governed library of measures, expressions, visualizations and both single and drillable dimensions - now with Cyclic group defined dimensions - you can dynamically cycle through dimensions in every chart, at the same time using a click of a button or simple selection. Offering new ways to analyze data, save precious screen space and enable multiple use cases on a single chart.
When defining your dimensions in the master items library - choose the Cyclic radio button and select the field names you want to use as part of the Cyclic group. In your chart choose the Cyclic field you defined as your dimension and you can now easily change the field with the chart axis drop down or even define a custom button to step forward or backward through the cyclic group.

1 year before I have done it by using variable and button where each time if you click the button it changes the dimensions assigned in the variable, it works in a similar way 😊

    Few questions:
    1. Cyclic dimensions do not allow sorting based on the measures? e.g. in the video, the bar graph was not sorted based on Sales.
    2. I noticed that I cannot select individual bars to drill down under cyclic dimensions. e.g in the video, I cannot select individual bar of country Germany. (in a normal bar chart, i can select individual bars which basically filters data)

Hello - sorry for the delay - I needed to verify with my team - 1: yes you can sort on measure - just wasn't done in the video -if a modifier is used like (accumulation) then sorting is based on dimensions - 2: you can select individual bars to drilldown with a drilldown dimension - cyclic dimension is different.
