Wow, you can almost see the transition from using the quake engine out of the box to closer to what we play in the older clips. The wide doors, the hallyways, the geometry seems “snapped” still to Quake’s map builder settings in ways. Later it appears they fully customized about.. everything. Great content, thank you, subscribed for sure.
Actually there are music tracks in the alpha they just don't play in the game. If you go in the files you can find earlier versions of the retail tracks
To be honest, the last thing I was expecting was to see my username. That really made my day. Of course, great video as well. For a future video idea, if you want to look more into the Half-life 1 beta/alpha build contents, you could check out the mod Absolute: Zero that recently got cancelled back in October. It's obviously not being worked on anymore, but holy crap I personally loved every second of it. Although it is not polished or well finished, what is there is incredible. Also, the development of this mod is very interesting... but not a good way. I sometimes nickname Absolute: Zero the "Franklin Pierce of Half-life Mods:" mainly because it seemed like they had the worst luck in the world and it was very depressing. I'm glad they cancelled it for their own health. But again though, what they had was really good. It felt like I was in a different reality and playing a game developed back in 1997... that nobody else knew about. It was one of the only few mods, that I can think of, where I wanted to see ALL of the content. But that is just a thought. If you do consider it, be prepare to look up UA-cam walkthroughs to type up different maps. For some reason, you can't list the maps in the console, but maybe you will have better luck than me. Cheers!

Criticising an alpha product(game) isn't stupid. It allows one to somewhat understand the building process and why the finished product is better or worse. Rating an alpha product that is stupid.
@@eivis13 But you're still playing it, are you not? So what's so stupid about rating your experience so others can decide if they want to play the alpha?
@@jkerman5113 you are rating an unfinished product that you know is unfinished. How would you rate a prototype of something? You can't, you can only criticize it.
You can still see the quake in this build, it looks quite neat to think that this almost shipped like this, but they thought that it wasn't good enough and went above and beyond and upgraded so much and did a lot in so little time. A marvel with the engineers and programmers.

Great video. I suggest checking out a mod called "Hard - Life" on Moddb. It's essentially Half-Life being redesigned/remade to be really hard, but in a really unique way. Not just cranking up enemy health values or anything.

they finished the game, then re did the entire thing again, so technically we have hl3
