My Grandparents raised me and we had a farm. That's how we used to call our cows up. We used to give a loud whistle for the horses. Good to see it again. Happy memories.
My horses would be at the back of the pasture where I couldn’t see them, I’d give a loud whistle, call their names and wait for the neighs ! As soon as I heard the neighs, I would hear the thundering of hooves as they came to get their treats ! They also learned the rumble of my car and would be running to the gate when they heard the car coming up the drive. Sweet times !
Dad would call our holstien milk cows by saying, "come boss, come, boss, come." The neighbors a mile away said they could hear him. Dad's been gone now for almost twenty years...this brings back so many memories. Thank you.
In the early 70s for a few yrs ( from 7th grade to graduation) i milked for next door neighbor , twice a day , holstiens, up at 4 am , on the bus , picked me up at 7:15 by the cattle crossing and then home at 3:30 , milk at 4:00 home at 7:00 , dinner and tv then bed . Thats the routine that prepared me for adult working life . Loved those early years.
@@thetexasrancher8208 we were All young when he died. There was no one to take over the farm. I Grandma tried to keep it going, but she couldn’t. She had to sell it. The original house was still there a year ago, but a larger home and a new barn have been built. Thank you for your video.

As a transplant from New York City to Pennsylvania farmland, I am getting used to being surrounded by farmland. I am obsessed about the animals, especially the cows, and worried and felt bad for them. After seeing this, my heart has been put at ease! Thank you for showing me they are well taken care of. It brings tears to my eyes by their obvious joyous response to your voice. I thank God for his beautiful creatures and people like you, who take good care of them.
They KNOW their Master's voice & they know who loves & provides for their every need, that's so relevant to me on a couple levels. Thank you for the blessing & reminding us of our Lord's love & care for us!❤️🙌☝️
Reminds me so much of my great uncle calling his cows. He lived on a farm adjacent to ours in southeastern Missouri. Growing up on a farm was such a great experience. So now I still live in a rural setting. What joy! Oh except when the power goes off for several hours.

Grandpa would call his cattle in from the field each night to the corral by the barn, with a Moo-Doggie, and they knew the routine and would come to the barn where he often had some special grain for them to munch on. good memories.
This was so neat. I grew up on a farm. Loved the cattle and horses. My favorite thing was getting up really early for cutting hay and the smell of fresh hay, it is hard to explain. Thanks for sharing. They are beautiful.
I used to do some haying decades ago. Did you notice how the smell of the hay changes from day to day, when it's down drying and then raked into wind rows?
We used to have a farm full of cows. Whenever they hear our truck approching they came trotting to us. Just love that. But old age is catching up we have to let go the farm
As a city kid who's parents had come from a small northern Michigan farm community, every summer I would go to my Cousens dairy farm, he milked 72 head of cattle, his son and i would go down to the pasture to open the gate so the cattle could go to the barn AM and PM, as a young boy i remember how powerful it made me feel that all these huge animals were reacting to us.My friends would go to summer camp for a week and I envied them, but I now know I was the luckiest of all.
As a city kid myself, I spent my summers well into my early 20s on my maternal grandparents' farm. Some summers I'd go to camps for a few weeks. I can tell you, it wasn't the same experience. My most precious memories are related to the farm. It was a lot of work and very busy but also fun, romantic, unique. I wish I could turn back time so I can spend one more time with my lovely grandparents, parents, cousins and friends. Time just flew by in a blink of an eye.
I never gave it much thought, but when i see cattle in fields, i just thought they would go home when they felt like it. These ladies seem to obey him albeit rather reluctantly for some. 🙏❤😊
@mnj640 No doubt. Farming isn't an easy life, which is why my mom didn't marry a farmer. She'd had enough of that life as a girl. My dad used to joke that she married him for his flush toilet. 😳

It’s always good for all of them to come to you when called! Their response to you shows a bonded trust and joy! ❤
They know food will follow.
@@lindanowak7893 Ha! You’re right!
You could go out in that field and make any kind of noise - drum, flute, violin, sing , and the cows would come running because they're curious 😂
