Don’t give up! I bought mine 2 yr ago, when I inspected I checked a lot of oil leaks and a sad story that lead the prev owner to not maintenance it properly. He just threw in anti-leaks products to the motor that make it worse. I expected previous to the purchase to drop the motor.. and there it begun.. new clutch, new flywheel, new fan, new spark plugs.. and new piston and cyls. That last one hurts the most but my wife and myself were committed to rescue and bring back that car to what it deserves! Keep it up man, you will continue to find something to fix in it 😉
Thanks man. Same story here! I also want to rescue this car, and my wife wouldn't be my wife if I didn't gett 100% support in all of my builds. It will be an expensive journey, but well worth it I guess.
Don't let it get you down buddy. I've worked on these cars for most of my life. Anything you want an opinion on feel free to ask. I'm in Australia so it may take 12 - 24 hours to come back to you.... but keep your chin up and get it sorted. You'll totally forget the problems in a few months.
Lets say it looked better in a dark showroom under perfect lighting, with a perfectly wiped down floor to hide oil leaks. Most electronics were not working either, but I have to admit that I was blinded by its looks, and was already heavy in love with it. I bought it as it is, so that's entirely my fault, but selling a car in "good and working condition" is very far from the truth. I wonder how this car even got TÜV (MOT) without a working horn, working handbrake, working windshield washers, unregistered wheels and suspension, far too narrow tires, and many other essential things... That's what's the most frustrating to be honest. But in the meantime, I'm over it. I'll just rebuild it to my standards and enjoy it for the rest of it's/my life. This perfectly reflects a love-hate relationship ^^

@@henrikbecker1305 😂 classic dealer? I wish it would have been. Trust me. This guy owns a tuning shop, modified his personal car (which this was) and then sold it in his name, not even with any warranty etc. But that's my own fault, I have to admit. Everything needed to go very quickly because apparently there were many people interested in this car, and it being original paint and one of the first ones from 1988 was very interesting. Unfortunately the paint isn't original, I'm almost sure that it had a full respray at some point. But not a good one...
Danke 😘 ja das wird schon! Alles nicht so wild wenn man es sich aus ein paar Schritten Entfernung anschaut 😅✌️ Manches ist halt nicht do toll, dafür andere Sachen umso mehr 😈🤤
I feel your pain! 10 weeks ago, I bought a lovely Carrera 2, Manual, Coupe in Grand Prix White, I drove it home, around 100 miles, by the time I got home it just wasn’t running well, struggling to idle, making weird noises, brake pad warning light appeared. The next morning I took it out again, about 5 miles later, the clutch pedal went to the floor and didn’t return! Turns out the hydraulic line had split. Off it went on a tow truck to my local indy garage. I haven’t driven it since! They’ve inspected it and found several issues, not too severe and some are expected with a car of this age, but i just didn’t think I’d be without it so quickly. It’s testing on the patience and is costing me more than I’d hoped all at once! I’m glad it will be a sorted car when I get it back, but it can be quite disheartening to have problems right at the start of ownership. Like you, I’m hanging in there and will make it the best car I can 👊
WOW that sounds devastating :O I wish you all the best with your car. Keep your head up. I guess and am pretty much convinced that it will be all worth it!

Good luck with your car. The broken engine stud is quiet classic... You probably have to have an engine overhaul...

How much did you pay for the car and did you budget for needing to make some fixes after purchase?
I don’t want to brag too much about the price, but a lot 😅 and yes, I have planned on doing some work and have some money on hand 💸
Did You buy it as it is or was it presented in a better shape than it is?
