Nice, will be trying this one for sure. I'm usually a ring buckle & garda hitch guy but this looks just as quick and simple. Possibly a few oz lighter if a robust stick can withstand the force and substitute for a packed toggle. Thanks red!
Thanks! You're right, it's definitely fiddly, and this may have pre-dated the widespread use of beckets and j-bends for hammock suspension. I still use it every once in a great while just to not forget how. 😀
Best way I've found so far to hang my hammock, I really like it. Thanks!
Thank you sir.
Wow..I'm going to try that, neat, simple, light.
Nice one Red
Thanks bill. I use the marlin spike hitch too, I just like to try new techniques. Seem like I try something new every time I go out. :)

It's hard to say how much force the toggle is under, but a proper stick might just work. Be safe when testing. :)
Thanks Paul.
good vid ,thanks for sharing., give the marlin spike hitch a look and a try..
.bill
that's cool , never seen this till now. Of course you could just tie a becket with less or same effort

My pleasure, I hope it works for you.
Thank you.
I haven't tried it yet with anything that could crush. I've only tried with solid toggles.
What about using a piece of aluminum arrow shafts
