For years I have tried to play this and studied many versions but my timing always wrong or slide off centre. Then came across your excellent version. Studied your way of playing and I finally cracked it! Many thanks for this. Only problem now is I can't get the tune out of my head lol. Seriously though a fantastic rendition you have done here. Thank you for posting.
you probably dont care at all but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Alfonso Archer Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Are you related to Jeremy Spencer? You sure play like him. Just found a 34 Duolian that hasn't arrived yet. You are giving me inspiration for when that day comes. Cheers
Good job I'm boarn and raised in Mississippi momma and daddy 2 plus some the style your playing is an lost art I do attempt it from time to time myself so keep it up nobody will know how to do it before to long the bass and tempo I mean at least at the same time GOOD JOB AND I MEAN IT
@@jpmcglynn Hi, it's open D. Oh, I just listened, I think that it might be tuned a little bit up from there, maybe a half step. Like open D with the capo on the first fret.
I once saw one of these guitars in a pawn shop window in Paddington (west London), for £30. I must have gone to that shop at least 30 times, but I never found it open. That's the true story of how I got the blues.
Hi, the main difference is the resonator inside the guitar. A National like mine has a cone resonator. A Dobro has a spider resonator, as if turned upside down. The sound is transmitted to the edge. In Nationals it goes through the center, via the biscuit bridge. People mostly use Nationals for blues (slide) and Dobro for country music. But there are no rules, of course. :-)
Great job, loved your version of it. I've been playing guitar for years and I own a National. I'm using light gauge strings but I still have a hard time barring chords. My neck set up is supposedly correct but I'm curious, what gauge strings do you use and how is the neck set on your guitar? Any idea of string height at the 5th or 7th frets.
Hi, thanks. Nice, another National player. I am using medium gauge strings. My National is set up for both, slide and fingerstyle, although it is not that easy to play chords as it is on an acoustic. Mostly I use open tunings so actually not really playing chords. I am not sure about the exact string height. If you prefer to use your National in standard tuning then maybe you should get it customized for you and get those strings lower down so you can play comfortably. That would make bottleneck playing more difficult though. Choices...:) Good luck!
@@AlaskaSue thanks for the reply. As I'm aging (70 at the moment) I'm enjoying 'creeping arthritis' throughout my frame and my hands are definitely weakening. About 3 weeks ago I began a regimen, for 15-20 minutes each day, to simply play barr chord shuffles at various positions up to the 8th fret and it seems to help just to focus on that particular weakness. My National is a gold color deuco with 12 frets and I also own a 12 fret Mule. Matt Eich, who makes the Mule, carved necks for Huss and Dalton for several years, and the necks on his guitars are not as wide or as thick as those on other resonators and his string height setting is lower. I have a bit of difficulty with barring on that instrument too so I'm thinking that I'm the common denominator to this issue. Anyway, I' enjoy your playing and singing, please keep going!
You're really good, IMO the reason this video has so many more views than your others is that you put the guitar description in the title. But yea, you're amazing! Keep it up!
You got some chops, Nice. Very much enjoyed it!
Not to mention, that 'ol guitar sounds amazing.
Nice playing. With a Mississippi drummachine 🤠

Great!!! Great picking and just as good as any guy on YT!! Where did you find your National?
