Can someone explain how they immediately jumped to the conclusion that “the husband wasn’t on board” in the first two minutes of the call? There was nothing said that supported this conclusion. At the end…. she openly states that he’s on board. Dear Ramsey personalities…… STOP DEMONIZING MEN!!!!
One of the first things she said was her and her husband have different mindsets. If she’s calling because she’s scared of the debt then we can infer that he isn’t. She articulated it poorly.
They’re not demonizing men they are calling it like they see it or in this case hear it. She took the initiative to call, she took the initiative to sit down and have a talk with her husband. He isn’t in the same mindset like the caller states and ramsey said.
Let’s be real man, this guy isn’t on board at all, that’s why his wife called in. Y’all act like men are saints, when most ain’t worth a fart in a windstorm.
The first year we were on Dave's budget, we managed to save $10k and we tithed $10k. It's amazing what you can do when you tell your money where to go. Fortunately, my wife and I are fully on-board.
I mean thats what the show is for. Dave gets more money and they get help. Its mutually beneficial. Do you really think the show would be this popular without the tragic story? Most ppl listen just to feel better about their own lives.
They make enough money for a new roof. Like 3 money and they'll have the money. They should have fixed it 3 years ago. Just because it's not leaking, that they can see, does not mean it's OK. Their debt is not that bad. Asides from the student loan, only 30k. That's nt that much with what they make.
I bet if they added all the money spent on gifts since 2019 the sum would be a multiple of 7 thousand. Just goes to show you can buy education but not wisdom...
Well, that's a kinda typical human trait, to believe we're the only ones going thru a particular situation. Also there's always debt.. remember maintenance, taxes, etc
Im about to take a second job to pay off my last 2 student loans and credit card debt in 3 months. It'll free up $800 a month. It'll suck for 3-4 months, but it'll be don 18-24, months sooner than if i just stayed the course.
I hate when couples don’t call in together. She blamed him not having the mindset but they BOTH are not doing what they need to do. Sounds like it’s more her and she threw him under the bus because it’s easier to blame the absent party when Dave begins to make you feel small about your situation. A gift budget don’t sound like something a man allocate to and a woman is more than likely to justify a new car when a baby is added to the equation. It’s not all him. Same mindset my foot 🙄🙄🙄🙄
I have been following this channel for quite some time, and I don't think I've ever watched one video when two people were on the line simultaneously, or even one after another. Am I missing these?
Can't buy a new roof because I keep buying all those presents for family and friends.. Did I hear correctly??????? When do these people plan on growing up??
Roof life of 15 years doesn't mean the roof is garbage and needs to be gone like immediately, I hear that all the time people saying oh I need new roof it's 15 years old... WHY.. roof can go 30 years of you take care of it. Someone somewhere told them you need to replace the roof in 2019. If the roof is still in decent shape, replacing few shingles is just fine. Their problem is that they don't want to change their lifestyle, that's the biggest thing, impressing neighbors and friends
@@kbanghartafter she lists out all the debt and Dave mentions them buying a house while still in debt, her exact words “ me and my husband… yeah, my husband doesn’t have the same mindset as me” then they proceed to take shots at the husband, who isn’t there to defend himself. No one’s sensitive, I’m simply calling out where she blatantly pointed the finger at her husband and I then used that as yet another example of why I personally will not marry. I’m 4 months away from My debt free scream.
Right? It weirdly fascinates me watching Ramsey how some people on 30K a year start cleaning up their mess while others with 250K at their disposal simply cannot stop from getting into more debt. Lady will keep buying them gifts while sinking into debt and roof almost gone 🤯
Ya, if your not in debt you have no business following Daves advise. His advise works for the financially illiterate. People who know how to budget and have discipline would underperform following him.
You guys in the comments are awfully sensitive. My observation is that whoever calls in is usually the responsible one. So if a woman calls in it's logical and likely that the spouse (male or female) is dragging their heels. Go back and watch all the videos to see that Dave does criticize plenty of women for being the "spender".
The problem is that Dave is bias against men. He will literally throw the man under the bus the majority of the time. Usually there’s a debt problem because a majority of the time women will influence the man’s spending. I’ve seen it in most of my friends marriages where the woman will spend something without his consent and they get in to big arguments about it. Most women that call in on this show are terrible with money.
Me and my husband. Blame the husband who doesn't want to hear the wife complain. I'd love to see the breakdown of income. "We" woman's for take no responsibility. Take two to tango.
I agree, this isn't a problem you can fix in a show, and it's not simple. Dave loves to pretend everything is simple, and it is once you're out of the weeds. This is like the worst kind of Dad advice, it's not based on the reality on the ground, and based on sacrifices that don't sound bad when you're not the one making them. It's the biggest problem with him, it's a super harsh and terrible for the other half of the marriage (you always have one that's more a saver and another that's more a spender). The spender side of the marriage is also not without merit, it's certainly not financially optimal, but it's absolutey not without value added to you life (because money is not the only thing that matters, right Mr. McDuck???). The Dave Ramsey plan skips the opportunity cost; without that cost (ieg, if you're not paying it because you're a talk show host) it doesn't seem complicated at all. This is, to me, a pretty childish take and is only going to work at the cost of the spendier partner. When one half of a marriage loses, both halves lose. If you have a spouse that just wants to spend, the best you can shoot for is some partitioning of resources, so you both move forward with your plans, just at a slower pace. That's the hardest I think it's reasonable to push if you care about your spouse. If you want to charge super hard and get it all moving in one direction; well, you just can't do that with two captains on the ship. You do that when you're single. That's not going to work while you're married to someone else; particularly not without massive effort to keep them focused on something they don't see as highly important by nature. And it WILL extract a cost in resentment because they likely see the opportunity cost in far starker relief than you do. You're building and living a life together, not trying to optimize some video game playthrough with your NPC/henchman.
Never had a house. Never had a car. Always rented nice flats, even houses. And used taxis and public transportation. I know I am a freak, but who cares. I will buy a house, but later on. I will buy a car, but a little bit later. If I had 100,000 in debt, I would drink a lot ))). Just to soothe the stress )). And I make 120k a year. Thanks to our frugal lifestyle my wife doesn't have to work, and and she never did for the last 5 years. She is happy. That could have never happened had we had 100k USD in debt. We would have to work like crazy with such a debt. Astronomical debts. Americans have gone crazy.
Could have avoided the car payments and dumped that payment into a sinking fund for the roof… or should have got a roof certification before closing and requested closing credits to offset the roof cost.
The moment "our gift budget goes crazy every month because we have so many family and friends and weddings and baby showers ..." I mentally put this call on mute. Oh, and the "we *try* to get on a budget ..." to which Dave says, "No, you don't."
As for gifts, bake 'em a casserole or offer to babysit for their new addition. Be the role model and admit to your circle, proudly, that you are living within your budget.
109k and they bought a house do not ever get into a house with a 6 figure debt. Just buy right now no clear your debt, do the math, be cautious, oh and layoffs maybe coming soon with that corporate refinancing. Oh jeez good luck folks and don't get in this situation.

Dave and crew need to embrace the "D" word. DISCIPLINE! Sacrifice just sounds miserable. Discipline for me means progress - whether it's sticking to a budget or practicing your sport to get better. Determination: I know I can, I know I can, I'm watching my debt balance get smaller, I can see a future without debt, I'm excited watching people on Dave's show doing their debt free scream....(while giving up your favorite restaurant foods and Starbucks) --- Sacrifice: I'm miserable I can't have Starbucks anymore, I hate this, I really want a new dress to wear to my best friend's wedding, We don't get to have fun anymore 'cause we don't have money......

It’s heart in your throat. I haven’t heard that phrase in a long time.
“Yo’ mama don’t get a vote.”
Best thing Dave has ever said! 😂
Obviously she didn't mean laughable as in funny haha. People use that term implying pathetic especially on the east coast.
But our gift budget!😂
Excellent advice 👍
So do I.
Don't get how she is concerned about not having gifts for holidays and weddings when they are in a mountain of debt. Oh i get it. It's all about image, well image doesn't pay off your debt.
Their image isn't going to matter when they end up living in a cardboard box.
Because gifts are important.
@@kbanghartthey are, ut they shouldnt wreck your budget.
Birthday gifts should be less than $20 and wedding gifts can be $40 and when you're bringing in 9k a month that's not going to throw you into a tailspin
@@scroogemcduckismyspiritanimal agree. Not $1,000 lol

9000 a month and they have 180000 in debt ?!!😮
Im pretty sure she said 108,000 which is better but still a lot
He isn’t in the same mindset like the caller states and ramsey said.
...desperate and sickening attempts to stay relevant...
Let’s be real man, this guy isn’t on board at all, that’s why his wife called in. Y’all act like men are saints, when most ain’t worth a fart in a windstorm.
Oh look, an apologist for guys who blame women for their problems
The first year we were on Dave's budget, we managed to save $10k and we tithed $10k. It's amazing what you can do when you tell your money where to go. Fortunately, my wife and I are fully on-board.
It's just absolutely pathetic how these callers get themselves into stupid debt and then call The Ramsey Show seeking damage control advice.
I mean thats what the show is for. Dave gets more money and they get help. Its mutually beneficial. Do you really think the show would be this popular without the tragic story? Most ppl listen just to feel better about their own lives.
Americans in a nutshell
2 years is unrealistic thats 5K a month and they live in New Jersey and homes are expensive so the mortgage is probably $4K per month
He said 2.5 years. $3633 average per month. You're spinning stats to favor your position worse than Dave does 😂
$3600 a month when they bring home 9k....if they can't swing that then they need to sell the house
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in this world with no debt.
Well, that's a kinda typical human trait, to believe we're the only ones going thru a particular situation. Also there's always debt.. remember maintenance, taxes, etc
Well you’re not
i'd say a lot of the people listening and commenting don't have debt. But yes by the stats we are in the minority.
I also have no debt, which always makes me feel good listening to these calls
Get off your high horse
Im about to take a second job to pay off my last 2 student loans and credit card debt in 3 months. It'll free up $800 a month. It'll suck for 3-4 months, but it'll be don 18-24, months sooner than if i just stayed the course.
Hello from Australia
I hate when couples don’t call in together. She blamed him not having the mindset but they BOTH are not doing what they need to do. Sounds like it’s more her and she threw him under the bus because it’s easier to blame the absent party when Dave begins to make you feel small about your situation. A gift budget don’t sound like something a man allocate to and a woman is more than likely to justify a new car when a baby is added to the equation. It’s not all him. Same mindset my foot 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Sounds like it's more his problem
Hamilton is 10 minutes from me 🥹😂😂
I love how she threw her husband under the bus like she’s some perfect little Angel 😂
I swear I will never get married in the US.
When did she do that? Lol you're a bit sensitive
Trust me, no one wants to marry you.
That's what passports are for
@@kbanghartafter she lists out all the debt and Dave mentions them buying a house while still in debt, her exact words “ me and my husband… yeah, my husband doesn’t have the same mindset as me” then they proceed to take shots at the husband, who isn’t there to defend himself.
No one’s sensitive, I’m simply calling out where she blatantly pointed the finger at her husband and I then used that as yet another example of why I personally will not marry.
I’m 4 months away from My debt free scream.
It doesn't necessarily matter WHERE you get married e.g. U.S., France, Japan, etc., but WHOM you marry.
I think Dave’s reached the point where he realizes the other side of what he teaches is growing exponentially faster.
Could you expound on what you mean? I am not quite sure what sides you are referencing .

Roof looks good from far but far from good 👎
🤣
They make too much money for their own good.
9K a month. Oh boo freakin' hoo.
Right? It weirdly fascinates me watching Ramsey how some people on 30K a year start cleaning up their mess while others with 250K at their disposal simply cannot stop from getting into more debt. Lady will keep buying them gifts while sinking into debt and roof almost gone 🤯
All i hear on Dave Ramsey is student loan, student loan, student loan!!
Yep, so many were told that is the way to go.
If family lives nearby give a service for a gift....detail their car, a certificate for babysitting etc...offer your time instead of money....
Ooo, that’s a great idea!
Finally someone in the same area I live
Some of us will NEVER be ready
Gift budget?! For extended family and friends WTH!

Oh and any gifts you've already bought go return them for a refund immediately!

$109k?! I audibly gasped.
Dave and crew need to embrace the "D" word. DISCIPLINE! Sacrifice just sounds miserable. Discipline for me means progress - whether it's sticking to a budget or practicing your sport to get better. This couple has good intentions but they are obviously not getting the "need" vs "want" vs how to say "No" to other people influencing them. He mentions Everydollar but they should always provide a link to it and a card linking to a video describing how it works. I think Rachel has something like that
But sacrifice is what you need to do. Yes you need discipline to stick to it, but you have to give many things up until you are where you want to be.
@@cajbaf Of course sacrifices are involved, like going out to eat or buying the latest fashions every year. I'm just saying that the words we use affects our mental health. Using a positive mantra like determination gives energy and optimism and perseverance vs. a negative word can keep you feeling miserable and victimized and more likely to quit before achieving the goal.
Determination: I know I can, I know I can, I'm watching my debt balance get smaller, I can see a future without debt, I'm excited watching people on Dave's show doing their debt free scream....(while giving up your favorite restaurant foods and Starbucks)

Sacrifice: I'm miserable I can't have Starbucks anymore, I hate this, I really want a new dress to wear to my best friend's wedding, We don't get to have fun anymore 'cause we don't have money......
